There is a negative review here by April B. Two years ago I had the same experience but not as deeply involved. I never said anything because I just felt a strong intuition to get the hell away from him. I was aware from my training that many of the communication tactics he used were narcissistic and manipulative.. I felt awful about the 3K he took from me but better to walk away rather than see it as an investment to make sense of this transaction. no official test results, no diagnosis, no legitimate testing that he could provide reports just his narrative and taking his word for it. BEWARE- SCAM ARTIST! This review is from my mother who was a patient of Dr.Wald. Michael Wald, nutritionist a.k.a The Blood Detective is liar. He lied when he repeatedly told me he submitted my bills to my insurance companies. When I ended up sending the bills myself to my insurance, I found out the information on his bills is incomplete. They have no diagnosis. They are missing procedure codes and missing his tax ID. He told me he would help submit my bills to insurance and over three months he never sent anything. My insurance has covered nutritionists in the past, but not him, due to his shoddy billing and duplicity. He charged hugely inflated prices for tests whose results were never shared with me. When I reached my cost limit on seeing him and I told him I was done, he told me to keep seeing him because I wasn't going to be reimbursed by insurance so fast anyway. Because of his fakery I will never get any money back from my insurance. He has no secretary or support staff, so he can pocket all the profits and he does a really bad job making bills. I had to keep track of everything he did and regularly bug him to fix bills or give me missing bills but insurance says what he gave me are not bills and are incomplete. Ultimately I just claimed him on my taxes because that's all I could do. There is no evidence of him having unique insight into my condition in spite of the many things he did. My condition showed no improvement , he just kept heaping on more and more supplements. The next Doctor I saw immediately took me off half the supplements. My three month trial with Michael Wald was immensely expensive ($10,000!!!!!) and a waste of time and energy . He kept insisting that he could cure me and that I was very, very sick and that I would get money back from my insurance. I quickly reached my limit and told him I was done spite his protests. I feel better now, by the way, no thanks to him. All he did was empty my wallet and choked my system with unhelpful stuff. read more

I was very excited and hopeful to work with Dr Wald based on his medical background and holistic approach. I went to him with 2 concerns. I worked with him for 2 solid months doing everything that he asked including spending a lot of money on supplements. Not only did I feel like neither of my concerns were addressed, but I did not see/feel any improvements. I spent a lot of money in two short months. I know that the body takes time to fix, but after 2 months of no results, I decided to stop. I felt that he lacked organizational skills which was very frustrating. My unfortunate experience with Dr. Wald goes back quite a few years ago, but as the saying goes, "better late than never". I agree with Melody's and Lynn's reviews of Dr. Wald, charming, manipulative, relatively knowledgeable in his areas of expertise, but DEFINITELY mainly interested in his own financial gain first, "helping" his patients second. I brought both my children to him as they both had the same problem at the time. The initial consultations and follow-up appointments for each child were very expensive. There was a recommendation for a couple of supplements, maybe some blood testing also, not sure as it was a long time ago. Between all of that it cost me about $2,000 (probably would be quite a bit more today). In any case, what I do remember for sure is this. At the follow-up appointment, Dr. Wald recommended that each of my children should have growth hormone shots. I asked how much, they were not cheap, but I assumed that he meant monthly shots. "Oh no, daily shots" said Dr. Wald. "For three months." I never went back to him after that. Not only would the cost have been absolutely astronomical, I found out that that many growth hormone shots could have been very dangerous for my children (they were teenagers at the time). Luckily for my children, their problems have since been resolved and they are both healthy (NO hormone shots were involved!) My wallet was not so healthy after shelling out a lot of money to Dr. Wald for pretty much nothing except bad advice. Live and learn. It has always bothered me and I knew that I could never get the money back. I was online today and something made me curious to see if he was still in practice in Mt. Kisco which is where his office was back then. It appears that he has moved his office further north but is still practicing. When I read the other two reviews I decided to add my "two cents" in exchange for my two thousand dollars that he cost me. And as Melody said in her review, "to make others aware", especially important is the fact that he has been reported to the medical board. So be careful. (Also interesting, if you look at Dr. Wald's photos, they all look like he is posing for a photo op, and none of them show him with any patients. Just saying.) read more

After going to multiple doctors and not getting any answers as to why I was feeling so bad, I stumbled upon Dr.Wald. He was finally able to give me the answers I had been looking for and put together a comprehensive treatment plan. Through lots of nutrition I have been able to get back on my feet thanks to Dr.Wald. Anytime I ever have a question, Dr.Wald gets back to me right away. The time and care Dr.wald puts into his patients is beyond any doctor I have met. Dr Wald takes a holistic nutritional approach to chronic health issues. The supplements and regimens he recommends and sells are extremely helpful. I'm happy I found him. You really have to pinpoint what you're looking to achieve and take some of the test results with a grain of salt. His testing is very different from mainstream medical approaches. Had I not double checked with my regular doctor, I'd think I'm seriously ill, really on the downhill. I have issues for sure but not necessarily as they were presented to me. The testing is expensive, the consultations are not cheap so be prepared with your questions and research. The consults should be an hour if needed not 45 minutes because there's usually a lot to cover. You can't ask a few questions in between appointments. He's very busy and in demand it seems. My insurance did not pay any of the expenses. His credentials are impressive. He really is a Doctor. If you have nagging health issues, you'll want to see Dr Wald. It will help. read more

Dr. Wald is very knowledgeable but when it comes to the individual patients, he lacks a great deal. He is very good at medical "speak" and facts and knows how to manipulate you into thinking only he can help. He basically pushes his own agenda which he believes is the best and only one, while charging ridiculous prices for many unneeded tests and treatments. He makes you keep coming back and back at expensive prices that not many can afford. I'm sure he has helped many who have been in a terrible health state that any change would be better. Healing does take time but NO ONE has to be made to believe it takes thousands of dollars to get healed and the healing should get better as time progresses if you are following the suggestions and protocol of a medical professional. For myself and others that I have met who have gone to him, they got worse or stayed the same. It is very easy to be seduced by his charm and medical dialogue. He has also been reported to the medical board a few times and found to be negligent in some areas. Some people are helped by him, especially judging from some other reviews but many times when one comes from a very unhealthy lifestyle or very specific issue, they will be helped by him or by other means if they choose. Please check out other holistically minded doctors/healers before committing youself and many paychecks to this person. I am not disgruntled or have anything against him as a person as I know he is very good at manipulating facts that he think may be true and speaking ill of others who question him. I had a similar experience to Melody. While Dr. Wald offered interesting theory and background and seems to have good knowledge, I couldn't help feeling that my treatment was secondary to Dr. Wald's economic gain, which left me feeling uncomfortable. I was hoping to have a brief chat with Dr. Wald on the phone about this, but he refused. I sent him the following via email, and his response follows (in all caps, which is the way he wrote it): I have never had a healthcare professional refuse to have a chat on the phone, and this is particularly disconcerting. And, given my heightened awareness of that which is around me, when my intuition leaves me feeling uncomfortable it is huge, as according to my friends and family, my intuition is usually spot on! I DON'T THINK SO. RESPECTFULLY, YOU JUST DID NOT WANT TO SPEND THE MONEY FOR THE CONSULTATION. And, this was after already spending approximately $3,000 with Dr. Wald in 2 1/2 months and him suggesting that I see him 3 - 4x/week, which would have cost between $2,000 - $3,000 a month, and any supplements and tests would have been additional. With unlimited funds, this would not be a problem, but I made it clear that that was not the case for me. Pushing this type of agenda not only felt inappropriate but also self-serving.
