This park is a small spit of land at the base of the Caloosahatchee Bridge. It lies along the…read moreCaloosahatchee River making it a great spot for fishing but a free salt water fishing license is required. The parking here is also free. Lee County Parks & Recreation took over responsibility of the North Shore Bridge Access from the State of Florida in August of 1987. A pier was added to the park in 2000 which was paid for with proceeds from the three cent bed tax imposed on short-term tourist stays in Lee County. The park is home to the Edison Sailing Center which offers sailing and power boat safety lessons here. Note that although North Shore Park has a beach, swimming is not permitted. Restroom facilities are port a potties. I enjoyed taking a walk on the trail that runs from the parking lot to the base of the bridge. You can get a stunning view of the river, especially at sunset.

The atmosphere here was incredibly peaceful, and the slow pace made it the perfect way to start the morning. Along the walk, we spotted plenty of wildlife -- including birds, squirrels, lizards, bunnies, and even an otter playing near the water. The boardwalk trail isn't very long and has multiple benches along the way, making it a relaxing spot to take breaks and soak in the surroundings. There's also plenty of shade, which kept it comfortable despite the Florida humidity. We had brought along bug spray, expecting mosquitos, but it turned out to be unnecessary -- we didn't see any the entire time we were there. It was a calm, refreshing start to the day and a great spot for anyone who enjoys nature, wildlife, or just a peaceful walk.

25 February 2026…read more Someone had the idea to visit Six Mile Cypress Slough today. Uufff It was a nice walk ... but ... bring your walking shoes, Sunglasses and a hat. A bottle of water would be a nice addition. This place has a trail that you are compelled to remain on throughout the excursion. It is a wooden trail with wooden guardrails to prevent you from straying. It was a pleasant hike, got my steps in , but I thought it would never end. I thought I was trapped in the movie set of "No Way Out" Finally ! At the end of the trail I managed to find the exit and my car. Adios ... don't think I'll be coming back . Ok ok , it wasn't that bad. I'm prone to exaggerate.

The boardwalk is under construction and I can't wait for it to open. There are pelicans, herons snd hawks flying overhead. Review #500.... OK,…read moreso Redfish Pass doesn't really have an address. I mean, it's an inlet which connects Pine Island Sound on the east to the Gulf of Mexico on the west. It was formed by a hurricane in the 1920s (?). Captiva Island is to the north and Sanibel Island is to the south. While navigating by boat can be kind of tricky, especially at tidal change, the pass can be flat one day and incredibly choppy with swells the next. However, almost all fishermen in the area use the inlet to get out fishing in the Gulf (or you have to go on the north end of Captiva or the south end of Sanibel - miles in either direction). Fishing is plentiful in and around the inlet - redfish, grouper, mackerel, ladyfish, snapper. Many boats troll the inlet or people cast in from the shore. The scenery surrounding Redfish Pass is phenomenal. If you're able to boat through on a clear, calm day, the views are worth it. Note - it's still state waters until you geth through into the Intercoastal but remember that this Intercoastal is on the west coast, so if you're used to boating on the east coast of Florida or the US, that the channel markers are switched not too soon after you enter the Sound, especially if going to the left (north).

We saw a few fish leap out of the water, less than a dozen lizards VC and the top few inches of one alligator. Parking was $2 an hour and easy to pay with a C QR code. The bathrooms were clean and there is a cut gift shop with a nice variety of items. The walking trails were plenty close to nature while still feeling protected from the alligators. They had a few volunteers available to talk to as well.

I had been looking for a 1/2 day fishing charter for the last two weeks. No luck until I talked to Christine at Paradise last night. We happened to get lucky and they weren't booked up today. She was very friendly and helpful on the phone. Gave us directions and what we would need for our charter at 8am. I have to add they beat everyone else's 1/2 day charter rates. We got there ( my wife and three kids ) and were met by Captain Ryan. He had our boat all prepped and ready to head out right at 8am. Ryan was extremely polite and friendly. Hard to do with three teenagers that we thought about throwing over several times. LOL Captain Ryan must have changed fishing spots at least a dozen times trying his hardest to get us on fish. We all caught several. We only walked away with three keepers ( all good size Mackerel ) but caught a lot more than that. We caught a squirrel fish, lizard fish, blow fish, catfish just to name a few. One of our daughters caught a big fish and it gave her a run for her money. It was a juvenile and even though it was big we had to throw it back. Captain Ryan was very knowledgeable about his fishing. This was an outstanding trip and I will come back here every time we are back in Fort Myers. Our youngest ( 11 years old ) said ....."I think today was the best day I've had as a child". Best day in a while! Contacted this charter the day before we decided we wanted to go out fishing…read more A last minute business trip/relative visit and impromptu day off. Fishing sounded like a great way to spend it. Contacted charter via phone ( although you could book online) because I wanted to know about access to boat/ what was needed. Christine called me back a few hours later had all of he information. She was polite and accommodating. I confirmed at 7:30pm for next day afternoon slot. That's customer service! Headed to Snook Bight marina and had a fantastic margarita made by Sandy. Met up with captain Ryan at 1. Boarded the 24 ft fishing boat with my hubby, a cooler, sandwiches, maybe some beer and 2 senior citizens ( parents). Had a great 4 Hour trip. Captain Ryan was professional, patient and knew everything about the area wildlife and fish. We got to fish at a few spots. We caught catfish, trout, whiting, baby hammerheads. He somehow arranged for us to see dolphins too! It might seem pricey($400), but honestly because you are able to go at your own pace, not being elbow to elbow with others and having an experienced captain as your guide made the day priceless. Will go again when we are back in town .

He knew exactly where to go and how to cast and we caught something pretty much every other cast. Once the tide came in he took us to fish for trout and once again put us in the perfect spot. Admittedly the fishing conditions were not the best, but we still caught a large redfish. At the end of the trip he filleted up the fish for us and brought us to a restaurant where they would cook it up for us. He is a very personable guy and obviously knows his stuff.
