Was in the Albany area Sunday n looking for a Sunday brunch place n As usual found Oh corn on Yelp. Nice location by the Hudson. Gorgeous morning so we sat outside. Nice quaint clean place. Friendly staff. Plenty of parking on the side. We ordered the yucca fritas n Maduros. Came w 4 diff sauces - spicy hot, garlic aioli, cilantro yoghurt n another one. Got the tuna arepa, breakfast arepa w bacon and the cachapa breakfast. Generous portions n they were all delicious . Not a morsel left. Topped of off w torts tres leche cake. Enough for 3 to share. To burn the cals we went for a pleasant walk on the Hudson riverfront. Thank you for a great breakfast . Will be back again when in the area next time.

I've been a long fan of Oh Corn Arepas as I used to patronize this place when they were located in Clifton Park. They are a bit of a drive now but I happened to be in the area and stopped in for a fast snack to go. They are by the Hudson and it's really nice and scenic. I'm sure they will be busier as we head into warmer weather. The restaurant is adorable from the outside and welcoming as you step in. They also have a few tables set up outside and it's just too cute. My chicken empanada and tostones (savory fried bananas) with dipping sauce was very tasty and really hit the spot. Give them a try if you are in Troy!

Stopped here randomly on my drive home from Vermont. I got the pabellon criollo - a traditional Venezuelan dish of shredded beef, black beans, sweet plantains, white rice and a fried egg on top and tres leches cake to go. Food was fantastic, wish the egg was a little more runny but that's not picking. Ate my tres leches cake when I got home and it was just what I needed after the long drive. I wish this place wasn't so far from me!

    Christmas dish special

I was in Troy on a business trip and met my cousin for dinner. We ended up trying this restaurant, more on accident than intentionally. I am so glad we did! I ordered the Christmas special dish, that included Venezuelan tamal, pulled pork, Jamón pan and traditional salad. It was delicious! I especially enjoyed the Hallaca, Venezuelan tamal. So flavorful and tasty. The owner who was our server was very pleasant and explained the menu. Overall, a nice little restaurant. I will be back, when I am in the area again.

Delicious food, great service, outdoor patio dining. I had the pabellon criollo and my husband had the Costillas de cerdo. Both lovely with a few bottles of Polar Pilsner in frosted glasses. We will definitely be back the next time we are in town!

Great staff, good coctails, good prices, and the food was great. Atmosphere was clean & authentic, so cute! Kinda felt we were on vacation. Definitely recommend for all (even vegetarians, vegans and gluten free people.

Food is delicious and fresh, the homemade sauces flavorful. Owner and other staff are sweet and kind. Highly recommend. Just beware that if you use a CC you will be charged a 4% fee. This is not stated on the menu or posted anywhere around in house dining tables. Bring cash, save a few bucks. We had the platters, Pabellon Criollo and Arroz con pollo. Both flavorful. Pabellon Criollo comes with shredded beef, rice, caramelized plantains, and black beans for $16.95. A little pricey, in my opinion, but delicious. The Arroz con pollo was flavorful and delicious. Other than the rice/chicken blend it came with a couple of caramelized plantains (which were delicious). The Arroz con pollo at (14.99) should include a side portion of their tasty black beans to justify the price. In order to get a small side of black beans its was $6.50, although tasty, it was a but high in my opinion. We shared a natural fresh juice, with a blend of three juices. It was delicious and fresh ($7). With tax and tip, we paid $72. The setting is beautiful as it is in the form River Street Cafe location and the upstairs seating overlooks the hudson river. Its a beautiful location and vibe. They are waiting for their liquor license and have live music in Friday and Saturdays for added bonus. Definitely worth a visit! Although the meal was delicious, the prices will limit how often I return.

This stretch of…read moreSchenectady offers some diverse family-owned restaurants - Pakistani, El Salvadorian, Jamaican, etc., to name a few. In this case, the cuisine offered at Los Chamos is Venezuelan. Upon entering the establishment, I noticed a music/karaoke machine in the front corner. Tables were interspersed in the main area which surrounded a bar and ordering station. A preteen sat at one of the tables, playing on her phone. A young man worked the ordering station. Early on a Saturday afternoon, noticing a fridge with beers displayed, I ordered a Modelo and looked through the menu. I ordered a Chile Colorado and empanadas con pollo to go. Two things right off the bat - 1. First taste - It was good food. It was satisfying in a way that spoke of generational recipes rather than or despite culinary training. It is soul satisfying stuff. 2. If you can finish this meal in one sitting, good on you! Generous portions and the heartiness of the meal add to the "warmth" of the experience. A couple of details - the mayonnaise-based sauce for the empanadas was something I'd never tried before - lots of garlic, cilantro, a bit of water to loosen it, maybe some vinegar for acid...I liked it. The braised black beans had a little chili heat to liven it up. I'll definitely go back. I may not be fluent in Spanish or be knowledgeable about Venezuela but I find the food to be inviting and soulful.

It is good to see, at long last, a Venezuelan restaurant in New York's Capital District. You may…read morefind yourself meandering by on the State Street sidewalk, with tumbleweed of cigarette butts and trash blowing across your unsheathed feet, and pass by Los Chamos. It is indeed worth going inside for a delicious meal. Los Chamos' menu has a good selection that includes many traditional Venezuelan dishes: pabellón, arepas, cachapas, tequeños, empanadas. There is also an extremely disconcerting section of the menu devoted to seemingly-Mexican dishes. Perhaps that is to attract customers in an area with a smaller Venezuelan population and a small population of people who are familiar with Venezuelan cuisine. I don't know. But I also don't care. I was, of course, able to sample the pabellón criollo and the tequeños. Astoundingly, tequeños can be a good indicator of quality in Venezuelan restaurants in the US, and these ones pass the test. They also have moñongos, an item from Zulia (and it shows) that is effectively a thick tequeño with ham and plantain and meat as well. Healthy? Tasty. The venue has a decent amount of seating and the staff are friendly. They also sell a small selection of Venezuelan products, such as ovomaltina and Savoy chocolates. If you live in the area and have never tried Venezuelan food, now is your opportunity to do so. It's not spicy either, for those of you with weak stomachs. Overall, I would highly recommend Los Chamos. Hopefully their business succeeds.
