Awful! Don't waste your money! One of those times you legit wish you could give 0 stars. We purchased through Groupon. Our class (my two friends, my husband, and me) was supposed to be with the owner, Dan Miller. He was unbelievably rude. I've never been treated like that. My husband and I use N95s in public because I teach high-risk kids and because we don't want to get sick, either. He asked if we masked because we were concerned, and I said we were not sick but masked because I teach high-risk students and don't want to be the one to make a kid sick. My friend and I went to the bathroom before the class started. When we returned, people were filling out paper waivers. I said we had done one online and he said he also wanted a paper one. Ok. We signed and handed it back and he started being so rude to my friend because she didn't put her email and phone. She took back the form and added it, but apparently below the line where he wanted it and he started BERATING her for not following directions (the spot in which to write was small and she missed it and wrote in white space). He was, quite frankly, abusive. He then turned to me and went off about how we should return when we were not sick. I said again we were not sick, but we always masked because I was a teacher. He then repeated how he didn't appreciate us coming sick, and really started insulting me as I tried explaining, for the third time, that I wasn't sick and hadn't been sick in five years. It was so unpleasant. I've never been berated like that by a business owner or employee. We left. He threatened he was going to make sure Groupon wouldn't refund our money. I mask to protect myself and others, especially my students. But, from reading reviews, it isn't just that he's opposed to masks; he's just a massive jerk all around, especially towards women. read more

Got Groupon for wife's birthday, wife thought be nice to surprise me by booking a glass blowing lesson after my upcoming Army training. She was unable to get the code, attempt to contact the company, was told by Daniel Miller to text him instead would be quicker. Wife introduce herself and stated the problem, first thing Daniel said to her and I quote "most cases are user error" RIGHT OFF THE BAT. Daniel Miller then proceeded to have back and forth with my wife in text talking down to her, as she explain to him that the groupon had no information Daniel Miller is asking her for and sending screenshots, meanwhile Daniel Miller reiterate what he wants, then inform my wife she does not have the computer skill to comprehend nor remedy the problem, and that there is nothing he can do to help then reiterated the code we need which is not sent by groupon. The class I had booked with a friend was cancelled (which seems like a common theme) but this time was for COVID, obviously that's no problem I totally understand that. Then for 3 weeks no classes similar were available to be rebooked. So I emailed (because my friend had emailed and got no response for 3 weeks) asking if there were going to be more of the specific class I had originally booked and if not we would like a refund rather than a credit. The response I got was "have you checked again"...yeah I've checked multiple times over the last 3 weeks and then was actively checking as I'm reading his email response... no classes. So I'm not sure if he thought he uploaded them and didn't? But maybe checking yourself when a customer is saying there's no stained glass classes would be useful? We had a great time at our glassblowing workshop. I had purchased a Groupon pre-COVID-19 and was pleased that they extended the expiration date. My husband and I weren't able to do any glass BLOWING (because of COVID-19), but rather glass shaping/ sculpting. I felt safe the whole time - there was only 4 people plus our instructor, Duncan, who was great. He was very knowledgeable, personable, and helpful. We had the choice of about 10 different designs to choose from, and choice of accent colors. Duncan guided us through each step in the process and jumped in to take the reins when needed so that we would end up with a finished product that was done properly. It was very empowering to work with molten glass and turn it into something beautiful (I hope so, anyway. The piece has to finish cooling and processing and will be ready to pick up next week). Read reviews before supporting Ohio City Glass. Sharing an experience we had with the owner of Ohio City Glass. We arrived early for class. The girls went to the restroom while the boys went inside. When we returned, still in time, the owner handed us a clipboard to sign waiver. We tried to tell him we completed it online, but he said he already talked about this and told us to sign. He was short in direction and visibly upset to repeat himself. We signed. He gave it back and told me to write email and phone number. I did and handed it to my friend so she could, too. He said he only needed one and took it back. Nobody else was asked to do this, with another guest stating he did not. The owner announced loudly to the class that there was a huge problem. He displayed the form, with my information visible to everyone, stating I could not follow directions and didn't write where he wanted. He intensely stared at me while addressing the group about my supposed error. He acted out handing me the form with the pen pointing to the small line he apparently wanted me to write on. In continued attempt to belittle me, he acted out me writing elsewhere on the page. He said he's in charge and we follow his rules. He switched attention to another woman. Speaking as if she wasn't there, he said she was wearing a mask and shouldn't be here. Though she already told him upon arrival she wears the mask to protect high-risk children she works with- he yelled and told her he didn't want her there, saying he's a teacher and didn't need a mask. She tried to explain but was told to leave and not return because he was the one in charge. My wife got a Groupon for Ohio City Glass to use when we were in Cleveland for my birthday. With COVID the classes are smaller than I guess they were before. We however got lucky and were one of the first groups of the day and it was just the two of us so we were able to relax and take our time a bit more than I would imagine if there were more people. The instructor was very informative and very safe. We had a lot of fun and I attached the items we made, with the pumpkin there was the option to attempt the stem on our own or have the instructor do it for us, we had him do it so it would look good but the rest was mainly us. My wife made the pumpkin and I made the pyramid. Would totally do it again. If you are interested I would recommend contacting through their Facebook because he will give you deals about the same or he said some times better than Groupon, bc Groupon takes a big portion from the deals but it helps get the word out for the business. read more

I had the worst experience of my life with customer service and rude conduct with this business. Not only is the owner/ instructor (Dan Miller) very rude and confrontational his people skills are almost non-existent. I tried calling the number online for his business to schedule a class and apparently the number has changed. So I took my mom to his place of business thinking we could talk to a desk Clerk or employee about scheduling a class with our groupon voucher. Boy was that a mistake! Upon arrival we were immediately met with a hostile tone as if we were ruining his day by even being there. I purchased a groupon. I redeemed it with Ohio City Glass. They cancelled on us because of a "personal emergency" 2 hours before the class was to begin. I have been emailing and trying to reschedule with the website, no phone number, emailing, they have ghosted me, and I am out of a lot of money for which I work rather hard. (Coincidentally in customer service, which I provide to my customers in a timely manner!) I have been trying to get a response, but to no avail. My group of four family members was looking forward to a Christmas Activity. Half of us are moving away, and we will not be together again for a long time, I am beyond frustrated, and just want to book something, get a response, or get my money back. I found Daniel Miller, The Ohio Glass Shop, on Etsy at the end of April 2020 - as my husband and I wanted a unique hand blown glass chandelier for our foyer. I CAN NOT recommend this person at all! Here's why: I spoke to him at the end of April - told him what we wanted, and he said he could definitely do that and was very enthusiastic and friendly on the phone. We Paid him IN FULL - for the chandelier and a small pendant light - on May 5th. That was a mistake! I Sent him a picture of the exact chandelier I wanted him to create - he said he can do that, no problem - and it will take a couple of months, probably late July/August. We Picked out the colors - 2 different shades of blue, and only a FEW clear pieces. He was very excited for the project, and we kept in touch via text - he was warm and friendly and said he has started working on it in June. July - still working on it. I expressed concern over the lax of a deadline - he had many excuses: it's too hot to work in his studio, he had to take his son camping, he had to take his son to school, his son was sick. August - I asked him when would be a good time to schedule a handyman to install the chandelier. He said it's only 50% done. I asked him if we could please set a schedule for 100% completion and to be shipped out - he said he has the pendant light and can ship that out, but all the chandelier pieces aren't done. We Both came to an agreement of September 8th as the completion and shipping date. We received the pendant light and a box of half of the glass pieces on September 15th. We never had a contract (naïve on my part) - though he kept referring to sending me a contract and never did. No follow through. Daniel also kept saying that he needed the other half of my payment, as per our contract - and I had to tell him at least 4 times that he was PAID IN FULL AND HE NEVER SENT ME A CONTRACT! He said he was working on the rest. I wrote him an email ON Etsy - since he was not replying to any texts from either myself or my husband. He then said he was typing up the directions to assemble the chandelier and would get them to us via email the following Monday. We did not receive the last box of glass until October 9th. We did not receive the very vague directions via email (about 5 sentences long - no diagrams at all, as he said he was going to include diagrams) until 1 week later. When we unpacked the pieces of the chandelier HALF of the 68 pieces were CLEAR (read: Cheaper than the blue colors we picked out) - which was not what we agreed upon. 1 piece of the chandelier was broken which was surprising considering how well they were packed. The promised pendant light's top hole connection was not sheared off flat, and thus hangs crooked. This man is full of excuses, and does 'ok' work as a hand blowing artist. I also have been reading up on his past experiences with clients - both for in-studio classes, and for custom made pieces - about 75% of them have had very bad experiences with him, he's late, or he just doesn't show up for classes. I DO NOT recommend this person for anything professional. He literally texted me that being late and lying about scheduling and timing to his clients was "a character flaw - and a good salesman does that all the time" and that "I don't have to tell you the truth about my business or personally." It took my girlfriend and I about 7 months to actually get into a class at Ohio City Glass (using our Groupon). We finally got into one for the Sunday, July 24th 2016. 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Class. Ohio City Glass emailed me a few days prior to confirm the appointment. When we showed up that Sunday, there was a note on the door saying class was canceled. Could they not email the customers to tell them it was canceled??? It's August 2nd now, and they have yet to respond to my multiple emails. I see on Yelp and Facebook that they have been doing this to other people as well. Went here for their Introduction to Glassblowing class with the groupon and had a great experience! This is a fantastic way to try a new activity and explore your creative side without committing to a series of classes. Why I loved it: -Very hands-on class! Got to do a fair amount of the actual work, which was surprising considering I had zero experience with glassblowing. It's impossible to make a glass trinket completely on your own the first time, but the instructor really tries to let you do as much as possible by yourself and steps in when you need help. So even if you're not a particularly crafty person (like myself), you can definitely get through this class and feel like you've accomplished something by the end. -Lots of one-on-one instruction. Classes are limited to 4 people so that each person can individually go through the glass blowing process with the instructor. Definitely necessary since there's a lot of delicate timing and dexterity involved in making even a simple paper weight. -You make two little baubles to take home, personalized to your taste with whatever colors, patterns, shapes you want (within a certain skill level of course). You have to come back a few days later to pick them up since the glass has to cool in a special oven over several hours. Other info/tips: -My instructor was Dan, the owner of the studio, who was very hands-on as mentioned above. He does the morning sessions and his associate Zach does the afternoon sessions. -Wear shoes that cover your entire foot (i.e. not flats) for your own safety and bring a water bottle since it can get hot in the studio. -There is a small parking lot right in front. -When you pick up your bowl/cup, they can smooth off the bottom to help it lie flat. However, this may take away some of the color there. If you're like me and would rather have a lopsided bowl with all it's color intact, don't do this. read more

So, I used a Groupon as I didn't know if I would like this and it seemed like fun. Scheduling was simple, but there is no phone number to call if there is a problem. Unfortunately, I did have to change my appointment. I emailed a couple times over the weeks (yes, it takes weeks to get in) with no answer. I got the confirmation and emailed that and get a response that I can change appointments. So I picked Monday. My husband and I were the only ones (which was nice). The instructor, Amber, was awesome and explained everything wonderfully. I was very surprised how much she let me do as I have heard the artists sometimes try to do things for you. I got to make a jellyfish (which I always wondered how they are made). I can't wait to go back. Just know this is a very small operation. I really wanted to like this place. I came here with a group through a Groupon. Two people were supposed to be present to help us but only one was there. Had a scheduled appointment today. Showed up and there's a handwritten sign on the door that says 'classes cancelled due to power outage'. Other people have written comments on this sign dating back at least a week that basically say 'your power is still off?' My friend purchased this class through Groupon and gave them enough information when she booked for them to have notified her that classes were cancelled. I drove an hour and a half for this only to come to a sketchy looking building with a sign written in pen basically telling us that we're SOL...and telling us to email to reschedule, but not giving an email address. I wish I could give Ohio City Glass a great review, but the instructor was rude and insulting. I signed up my 3 kids, one of which is 8 years old, for glass blowing class. We signed up 2 months-in-advance. When the day arrived, my 8-year-old was happy to be glass blowing again after having a class at the Glass Bubble Project (which was AMAZING). My husband, kids, and mom (who just happened to be in town visiting) were looking forward to the experience. The woman instructor had an attitude when we walked in. Before she began the class she made an announcement, that the only people who could be present were the ones who paid to take the class. I was floored. Ohio City was expecting us to leave my 8-year old. (By the way, when my son took a class at the Glass Bubble Project, they had no problem with parents helping their kids and having spectators.) T The Ohio City instructor then said that people couldn't watch the demonstration for free and she didn't know whether we were going to steal from them. There are several glass blowing experiences in the area... this is NOT the one you are looking for. This was the worst experience I've ever attended, and I'm blessed I'm able to laugh about it now. I feel bad for anyone who had glass blowing on their bucket list and saved up for this "class." Unless of course you are looking for an "instructor" who is going to tell you that you're doing everything wrong and doesn't actually teach. The experience started with being told that I even registered wrong by booking on the website, and didn't follow special instructions to submit for a voucher. I don't know why the guy just doesn't simplify the process and make his class registration fee what he wants to charge. He did say he would refund me for the difference, but I still haven't heard from him on that part. I'm kind of scared to ever deal with him again, he was so rude. I registered for a 2 hour glass blowing "class" that was advertised as getting to choose from several items to make. The choices are all variations of a glass ball paperweight, with no actual glass blowing allowed... because you are a novice idiot and aren't even close to being capable... maybe because the guy is too egotistical to even begin thinking how to teach. The class was more of a demonstration, with him spending first 40 minutes of a demonstration (which I didn't mind as a teaching style, but I wouldn't include this as part of a 2 hour hands on class), and then each person of the class gets about 10 minutes to repeat his procedure with his help. The remaining part of the 2 hours you paid for are spent watching others get ridiculed as they attempt glass dipping and spinning. No actual glass blowing instruction is involved... because you aren't even remotely close to being ready for this. When it's your turn, be prepared to have the instructor take the glass project out of your hand and have him do most of the work to make it look what he considers passible. He has control issues and won't let you learn by practice. Don't get excited about picking anything colorful, because as he will constantly remind you, colors aren't for novices. Personally, I think it's an excuse and he's cheap by throwing a lot back to be recycled, so your piece of glass is going to be very unclear muddled shade. There are other choices for glass blowing in the area, and for the same price you can get 3 hours individual instruction where you are hands on the whole time, and experience actually blowing glass for some pieces. I bought a two person class package. We showed up to the building on time and there was no-one there. We waited 20 mins in the pouring rain and even messaged them on FB asking where they were. There wasn't even a note on the door telling us what was happening. We had to ask the neighboring businesses where they were. So unprofessional, don't even waste your money. I bought a groupon with a few friends and we all planed well over 2 months in advance. We all planed to have dinner and arranged for babysitters to come but 3 hours before our class, I had someone from this company call me any say he could not have 4 people in a class and only 2 people could attend the class. He tried to tell me that I scheduled it wrong online but this was the company's fault. Doesn't anyone look at the schedule days or weeks in advance! Was suppose to go with family members on this fun activity. When we arrived (and none of us live in Cleveland) we were told class was closed for a family emergency. When we rescheduled we were notified that class would be cancelled for unforeseen circumstances.... as I see from other reviews this seems to be a common practice for this business. We went thru Groupon and getting a full refund is a struggle! We lost money on this and are not happy!
