I had been a patient with Ohio Gastro Group and moved out of state to Colorado. What should have been a simple referral process turned into an incredibly frustrating experience. Initially, I was told they could not provide a referral because I had not been seen within the past year. After I left a review expressing my concerns, they changed their position and said they would send a referral--but only for an office visit, not for the colonoscopy that had been recommended. The inconsistency is what makes this so frustrating. Ohio Gastro Group stated they could not refer me for a colonoscopy because I had not been seen recently enough, yet they were more than willing to schedule that same colonoscopy at their own facility without requiring an office visit first. If I am medically appropriate for the procedure in Ohio, why am I suddenly not appropriate for a referral to have the exact same procedure performed near my new home? My grandfather died from colon cancer, so timely screening is important to me. By refusing to provide a proper referral, I am now facing a 3-6 month wait to establish care with a new gastroenterologist in Colorado before I can even schedule the procedure. Meanwhile, I could have had the colonoscopy completed within days if I traveled back to Ohio and paid their office. After I posted multiple negative reviews, the office appeared to try to make things right by saying they would send a referral for a colonoscopy. Unfortunately, that is not what happened. Instead of sending an actual referral, they simply forwarded the report from my previous colonoscopy. My new provider could not use those records as a referral, leaving me right back where I started. This only added more delays and frustration to an already unnecessarily difficult process. The entire experience gave the impression of a disorganized and uncoordinated office. Poor communication, inconsistent policies, and sending the wrong documentation instead of the requested referral created additional work for both me and my new healthcare providers. I expected much better continuity of care from a medical practice when relocating out of state, especially for a procedure they themselves recommended. read more

I went in for a colonoscopy. The staff, the nurses, the NP anesthesiologist, the Gi doctor were all so caring and nice. They made me feel very comfortable and took the time to talk to me and lower my anxiety. After the procedure again, they explained the findings and made sure I was ready to go home. I highly recommend this place! My experience was great! read more

Awful experience. They just want to bill for procedures. If you have IBD...go elsewhere. Dr didn't not bother to have a full knowledge of my health history and blew me off because "it's not cancer." read more

I've followed my gastroenterologist to this practice and my annual visits are usually at this location. Check-in is easy, the wait to see my doctor is never long, and billing to my insurance is done in a timely fashion. Lab results are sent to my family doctor very quickly. On my most recent visit my pharmacy called me within an hour to confirm a prescription. The escript service is fast! I've had procedures done here and the medical section is clean. I saw Dr Bruce Hennessy. Loved him - very professional and personable. The rest of my experience is the problem. I scheduled an appt online, trying to get a colonoscopy. When I received my confirmation and paperwork in the mail, I called to see if this was the colonoscopy (there were no instructions). I was told that I had to see a dr, then I would be scheduled for the colonoscopy. I found out at my appt that this was not true - I did not have to see a dr first. I would hope that someone answering the phones would know this. I was given an Rx for Suprep (prep for the procedure). I took it to CVS on 4/8. CVS does not carry this item, and asked me to call the dr to get an Rx for a substitute (equivalent) item. I did this on 4/8, and they told me they would phone it in, that they always state "or equivalent" when they phone in the Rx. I gave it the weekend, and called CVS on 4/12. No new Rx. Again, I called Oh Gastro. This time, they called in another Rx for Suprep ONLY. On 4/13, I emailed Oh Gastro, and filled out the "contact" form on their website. I also left a voicemail. All requesting a new R for the "or equivalent" prep. When I checked with CVS on the 14th, and they STILL had no Rx (I also had NO reply), I called OH Gastro. The woman I spoke with said she would request an Rx, and she would also email me instructions for using MiraLax, which is over the counter. As of 6:50 pm on 4/14, still no Rx. She was able to send me the instructions, so I will use MiraLax instead. This was a very frustrating experience. Oh, and when I got home, I found OH Gastro did email me this afternoon saying they would call in another Rx. Guess what???? Didn't happen. read more

Interminable wait times and the worst waiting room chairs in Columbus. Visited twice, for a relative's procedures. Busy place, it's a real mill. Are the doctors any good? Who knows. Too pissed off to care. read more

This practice was a referral by my primary care physician and my experience could not have been better. The receptionist, nurses, anesthesiologist, and the doctor were all completely professional, kind, and personable. I highly recommend. read more

It was $287.72 for a 1st time consultation!? That's steep! Dr. Edgin only spent about 15 minutes with me and 95% of that time was him taking at me about himself instead of talking to me about my concerns. I felt his assessment was very presumptive and not thorough. What a waste of time. He scheduled me for a upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, but I cancelled because I researched that they're expensive and unnecessary for a first line diagnosis. I left with the impression that they have everyone do this procedure just so they can make extra money. I will not be returning to this practice. read more

As related to the scheduling department, staff, and actual procedure, I would rate 5 stars. All were outstanding; however, their billing practices are sketchy at best. I had a prior finding of polyps in 2009 - 13 years ago. My last screening in 2017 was clean. Based on my age and the time since last screening, was approved by my insurance for another colonoscopy. OhioGastro, because of my prior history of polyps 13 years ago, and irrespective of my more recent clean screening in 2017, both by OhioGastro, coded it as diagnostic and not preventative. The difference was a copay, after insurance, of $1300. It had nothing at all to do with my insurance provider. They felt the coding was incorrect as well. None of this was made known prior to receiving the bills and "appealing" it made no difference. They control the coding and are as flexible as steel. Despite the great care by the staff, I will never utilize any of their facilities and would not recommend them to anyone else unless the procedure coding is released in writing prior to the colonoscopy. I recently returned to Ohio Gastro for my third scheduled colonoscopy check up. I was taken in for my procedure right on time. My nurses Sarah, Mary and Lee treated me professionally and courteously, very friendly. Dr. Arlin did my procedure in a very effective and efficient fashion. He is also very friendly. My total time commitment for this procedure was quite reasonable. Since this type of check up is part of my preventative health care now, it is great to have such a wonderful medical team caring for me. Thanks to all! read more
