Last night the medical school did it again. They have events at very interesting places and this was the most recent. This Nightclub and Bar used to be "Luxor" a gay bar for Lubbock. It changed recently and is now a open to all bar called "Ohm". The set-up was very wacky. There was really cool red glowing cube seating mixed with nice leather couches, manikins, and hipster looking signs. It was quite the hodgepodge of items to say the least. It actually worked though. I liked it. It made me feel like it was a true "nightclub". They hired a crazy disc jockey and everything. There was of course crazy lights going all over the dance floor. The drinks were fairly priced and heavy handed. The bartenders were two very lovely ladies that I chatted with for a while since we got there before the huge crowd came. I really enjoyed my time here and would come again. They are only open on the weekends and sometimes they will open on a Thursday. To be absolutely honest, I can never really figure out where to begin this kind of story. But if I shall be so bold, I WILL say that the adventure's climax occurred about two hours AFTER I'd crossed the threshold of Ohm Nightclub and Bar, of Lubbock, TX, and into the orbit of a man with whom I'd spend the next few weeks in a state of elevated spiritual awareness, but then I got stabbed. Long story short: I basically met God, or rather: "the goddess," this chick named Diane. She was intense, but I'm getting ahead of myself. It's difficult to rest a fingertip upon this story's exposed nerve. Where does one declare: "in the beginning"? and at which precise moment is it appropriate to collapse into the cozy armchair of a definitive "THE END"? Let's go back a few days, to North Little Rock, Arkansas. Peter (my companion) had recommended we rendezvous at "Sir Loins Inn" for brunch, which is a medieval-themed steak house, and (frustratingly) not the LGBTQA dance club we'd hoped to experience. I mean: Sir Loins Inn. COME ON Peter was wearing mustard-yellow Adidas three-stripe break-aways, and his hair was braided in the fashionable "corn row" manner. Seated as we were in tall, high-back throne-like chairs, our needs attended to by a staff of dark-ages-costumed knaves and whatnot, Peter looked magnificent, something like a Caucasian blend of Lionel Richie, and that cool keyboard player in Prince's band "The Revolution." You know: the guy in the doctor's outfit, but not the doctor keyboard player from Night Ranger, if that means anything to you, because it should. Pete was chewing thoughtfully upon steak tip onion rings, and after some debate (and rising distress on my part that he'd been literally chewing upon the same "tip" of meat for 46 minutes), we'd agreed to roll a custom-made 17-sided dice to settle a decision regarding our next stop on an westward sojourn we'd hoped would culminate in Clovis, NM. After several rolls, we decided to head towards Clovis immediately. We popped a few caffeine pills and hit the road. Nine hours and 36 minutes later, we arrived in Lubbock, and we both had to urinate so badly I literally thought I was about to literally die. We parked his Pontiac Le-mans, and ran indoors. The bar's lay-out was incredible, far as I could tell, as I ran through the establishment, and into the restrooms. That first impression was a bit of a blur, to be honest. The urinal has this cool little air-freshener "fan" thingy that you pee on. The more you pee, the faster it goes, an eventually it ends with a fortune. Mine said "basically everyone has HPV," which was really helpful advice. Timely, actually. Peter and I settled in at the bar, and had a few cold ones. The bar was HOPPING. I will never forget it. At the time it seemed as if I had never before seen so many attractive men and women not on the freeway. A man approached, and said hello. His name was Ray, Ray Stubbs, as I recall, and he said something really cool like "I'm about to introduce you to God, man, and it's going to be amazing." I remember saying something like "that sounds cool," but then Ray said "but don't say anything to her about (X) or she will straight-up stab you." And in that, Ray was not wrong. Diane totally stabbed me, but that wasn't until later. It didn't happen at Ohm. We actually had a super good time there. I have a super power. Ok, so it isn't actually a super power... See, I can see into the future but they are just visions of random events that unfold, I never see anything very important. Like this, I will have random visions of a guy in a corporate recruiters meeting, or some kid going down a slide and being caught by his mom or any kind of boring random scene like shopping. Damnit I hate the shopping ones a lot, they're horrible. So I am mowing the lawn, and out of nowhere I get one of these full fledged visions that hurt so bad I am keeled over in my grass trimmings holding my head and I hear the voice of a man in the background, "I betcha wanna stick your..." and I was out like a light. I wake up and realize that I am actually still under in some sort of cosmic triunderance of nonexistence and I am watching this guy trying to forcefully jam his ear into this heavy set woman's ear, this woman is holding a light saber? Ok. Then this woman stabs him right in the stomach. Immediately I think no way, that can't be real. Seriously. I see receipt fall out of the man's jacket, a receipt for the Ohm Night Club in Lubbock Texas. Immediately I am fired up. Burdened with the task of saving this man's life. I head to the Club (which was an amazing place) on the date written on the receipt and there he is!!! The man from my vision. He is wearing a fanny pack, velcro shoes, hot little shorts, and a tank top showing off his stapler tattoo. A real vision. So here I am following this dude around all night, and they end up at some dive outside of town. I really thought that these two were on to me for a while, this weird heavyset woman was wearing elf ears the whole time, you know from the ringu movies or whatever. I was walking up on the scene just as I remember it from my vision. My heart is pounding out my chest, I am scared and running toward them. I can see his tongue coming out of his mouth and into her ear. I literally only have a second to save his life!!! And my shoelace comes undone, I trip over my own feet so The guy gets stabbed anyway. Basically, this experience only served to prove that my superpower is irrelevant. We can't go back and change the past because whatever happened was already predestined and we are only pawns in a sick cosmic game. The night club was great. 5 stars. read more

I'm always very impressed with the venue every time I go, the bartenders are professional and polite and make some killer drinks that you can't get enough of. The bouncers are always looking out for empty cups and consumers that aren't of age so that both can be taken care of in a respectful and responsible manner. It's always clean and the LED dance floor is perfect for when your favorite song is played by one of the talented djs hired for the night. The venue is large and open so you are able to find your friends easily without having to call or text each other and find where they are located. Parking was easy to get in and out of and since OHM is located right off the free way it's no hassle getting to your next destination unlike other places located downtown. Over all a nightclub with fun atmosphere, drinks, and music people 18+ can enjoy and have a good time partying. read more

This place is by far the best place in Texas period. I live in Tulia and sometimes I just need some big city fun if ya'll know what I mean. So two weekends ago the dj was going off, I was drinking my usual bud light with a shot of Jager Meister and this girl Diane approached me. She was smoking hot, and we had a great time on the dance floor bumping and grinding to this crazy Abba remix. I was grabbing more drinks and she put her hand down next to mine and I realized she had man hands. I am not saying she was a man but like that one episode of Seinfeld, she had man hands. We ended up closing the place down when at the end of the night and this dude Derek invited us to his pad for an after party. We finished our drinks and danced our last Dance. I got into my car drunk af, knowing this was a bad deal, I told Diane I would see her at Derek's and I drove home. My wife was happy to see me, and I got to play a good 18 holes at Tule Lake Golf Club. I hope I see Diane again soon. I highly recommend this bar to anyone that wants to party in the Lubbock area. read more

Wow!!!!!! Somebody TAP the owner on the shoulder and tell him his DJ skills suck ass.... The Dance floor on Dec31 2016 was absolutely empty all night.... Shame on you NADER... Your Patrons deserve better after a year of lining your pockets!!!! Visiting Lubbock and in comparison to Industry in Manhattan, OZ in Nawlins, and The Saint in San Antonio I was disappointed... I was there for a drag show which started Hella Late due to a "Technical Glitch". The Performer missed her plane.. So the entire night was put on hold by one of the 5 performers being late... This was made a hell on earth by the DJ which was spinning horrid little tunes of the likes of the Cupid shuffle and other hip hop unknowns. This place in the 80's was the place where Lubbock went to hear cutting edge tunes spun all night long... The only saving grace was the bar tender who was thankfully on point with the drinks... The club is tastefully appointed and oddly charming with gay potential... Sadly it's continued on a downward spiral unworthy of its Legacy (Mars, The Planet).. This place needs a leader not a follower to make this gem shine as it did in yesteryear!!! One good DJ can make this Place PoP again!!! read more

The place was not bad. I met this bald chick from iran and we hit it off pretty good. The dj played a remix of rock me amadeus. That really got the place jumping. The songs got weirder and weirder as the night progressed. The wreck of the edmund fitzgerald, uptown girl , followed by puttin on the ritz. Things got a little fuzzy after that. I had to go to the bathroom but my legs felt heavy. I held onto the wall. The room felt like it was rotating. I finally made it to the bathroom. I splashed some water on my face. I think the bald chick put something in my drink. I went into the stall to use the bathroom. The floor was covered in urine and used condoms. I sat down on the toilet. I heard this clicking and buzzing noise and the toilet began to rise towards the ceiling. It was some kind of hydraulic lift. The ceiling panel opened and up into the ceiling I went. I was in another room. I was still on the toilet. There was a strobe light and I heard this music thumping. It was cher. Halfbreed. There was a guy with antlers and a red speedo. They told me I had been chosen and it was time for the comet to take me home. The last thing I remember is a midget in the corner laughing. read more
