Absolutely ridiculous. An employee at Chimy's kicked me out for "standing in the wrong place" while we were literally sitting at a table. No professionalism, no explanation, just an attitude and a power trip. Instead of managing actual issues, this employee chose to harass paying customers. If this is how Chimy's trains their staff to treat people, don't waste your time or money. Worst customer service I've experienced in a long time. Can't enjoy one minute with the guy that has a mustache, tall and skinny. Even after he kicked us out he walked to the outside patio and blew a kiss towards myself and my group when we were already over it and leaving. We visit Lubbock often and had not tried Chimmy's. We heard it was a local favorite so we gave it a try. The watermelon chiton was exceptional as were the fajita nachos. Was hoping to celebrate my birthday in positive spirits but ended up with the worst bartender I've had in Lubbock in a while. Short girl, black hair, co workers were calling her Alyssa so I'll assume that's her name, she had such a terrible attitude not only towards me but her co workers as well. I usually like this bar. Today I had the WORST experience I have ever had at a restaurant. It was snowing in lubbock (1/18, you know) and it's 9pm. My friend and I are trying to go get food and drinks at this place. There is a small line and it's freezing as we wait outside. We finally make it to the doorway to get some heat from inside after 10 minutes. Not the bouncer but a man named Seth Lazaro, who claims he works there, comes up and says "actually you're going to have to wait outside." My friends and I are like "are you serious" and he's smiling saying "yes" saying he's going to "push these girls out of there" to the bouncer. They claimed they are full capacity, first in first out, and then 4 people walk out. He said, instead of letting us in, "I'm going to have to say no here." And didn't let us in and couldn't give us a reason, he just "didn't want to," as so he claimed. My friends and I are distraught, we loved this place. I was sober and my friend had one drink so he had no reason, just because he could, he said no. Never again! What a crazy power trip, never have seen this! If you are a relatively poor college student, who, ironically, happens to live in a college town, have no sense of taste, and just need cheap drinks and something in the gut to soak up the alcohol, this place is for you. Look at the majority of reviews. They mention the "great" drinks and hardly mention the food... If you are say...25+, have taste buds, a decent palate, but STILL like cheap drinks...this is place is for you. Just don't eat. The tacos were a solid meh. Processed cheese and mass produced tortillas really masked the flavor of the chicken, which in and of itself, was relatively dry. I applied a lot of pico just to get it down. Portion size is decent though. If you are say...25+, have taste buds, a decent palate, and don't require being smashed before 6PM...I would recommend Chili's down the road. That's right. When I approached the entry, there was a young door guy with a cowboy hat on. He looked me up and down, I provided a valid ID, and he still refused to let me enter. I would like to note that I am well over 21 and my ID reflects that. When I asked him what his reasoning was to not let me in he just gave me a blank stare. His buddies (who all looked the same as him) snickered as I walked away. He was speechless. I used to love occasionally coming here for cheese fries and a yummy margarita, however the past few times I've come the employees have been extremely rude. This past weekend some friends visited from out of town and wanted to come to an old favorite. One of the bartenders was extremely disrespectful to EVERYONE, vaping in guests faces, and over charging patrons (she charged me $15 for a drink that I later discovered was $8). I've tried contacting management but there has been no answer when I call, and they have been closed when I've tried to go in person. I used to recommend this place for visitors, but it's definitely off of the list. I've worked in the service industry for a decade, and have never experienced anything like this in Lubbock. They should really be concerned with who they have behind the bar because it will eventually cost them more than a bad reviews. read more

Out of all the Chimys locations this one is the worst. They have the highest prices. Their happy hour here sucks compared to the other locations. They also don't allow you to even drink. Emmy was awesome!! I've always loved Chimys but Emmy went above and beyond. I was standing in line for a drink, and she recognized me and offered to grab my drinks and bring them out to me. Not a huge deal but really nice of her to do. 20 minutes later another waitress came by and we said we wanted to close out. She agreed, but came back later saying they were super busy and we might be better off getting our own tabs closed at the bar because she was slammed. College aged crowd. Wouldn't deter me from returning, lot of other reviews mentioned that they felt a tad out of place. Television. Indoor and outdoor seating. Street parking. Dedicated parking lot. Wheelchair accessible! Counter staff was friendly and my burrito came out extremely quick. Walked over to the Taco Bar for some additional toppings and a varied salsa selection. Price was right. Food is Mexican-inspired - nachos, quesadillas, tacos, salsa bar, and burger options. I ordered the chips and guacamole to share with a friend and was VERY underwhelmed. You don't come here for the food, it's nothing to write home about. For an entree I ordered a steak fajita quesadilla which was a good size but bad ingredients (gross tortilla and cheap cheese). So for a college bar frequented by majority college kids among a slightly older crowd as well this has to be one of the best college bars I've ever visited. The drinks are strong and I mean double strong. The food is amazing and plentiful. And the service great and prompt. Stopped here for a night out with 6 other people for dinner and drinks. We ordered a nacho platter and burger on jalapeno but. The nachos came in a food diameter platter with tons of real cheese and plenty of chicken well seasoned and we'll cooked. It took 3 people to finish it. The salsa bar was well stocked with really good red and green salsas and other fresh veggies. The burger was a generous portion of beef on a truly amazing jalapeno roll and pepper jack cheese. All condiments veggies and sauces had to be added ourselves. This truly was a very good burger. I would highly recommend it. The waffle fries the burger comes with were fresh and crispy.
