We brought small pillows and placed them behind our backs, which significantly reduced vibration and made the ride much more comfortable. Thank you to the reviewer who suggested this--we had zero complaints. Bug Spray & Sun Protection Bring bug spray or insect repellent. The bugs weren't too bad during our visit, but it's nice to have. An umbrella can also provide extra shade if desired. Bring Water There is a cup holder on each cart, so staying hydrated is easy. Secure Loose Items Be careful when placing items in the cup holder. There's a small opening on one side, and smaller items can slip through. My bug spray fell out during the ride. Fortunately, there's also a basket available for purses and other belongings. We chose the 1 PM time slot, which is a 2-hour scheduled ride that includes two stops--one in Fillmore and another at Prancer's Farm on the way back. The ride was full with 16 guests, and the guides did a great job leading from both the front and back, making sure everyone felt comfortable and safe. Check-in was quick and easy, and they even provided complimentary popcorn and water, which was a nice touch before getting started. The ride itself was an absolute blast and definitely a solid workout--very similar to cycling, covering just under 10 miles round trip. The carts are super easy to use, with clear instructions from the guides. Each cart comes equipped with a front storage rack, cup holders, a hand brake (which you'll appreciate on the downhill!), an odometer, and a switch to toggle between manual and automatic. The assist mode really comes in handy on the uphill stretch heading toward Fillmore, while the ride back is a smooth and enjoyable downhill cruise. The weather couldn't have been better, and the scenery was incredible. Along the way, we took in beautiful views of avocado and lemon groves, cactus fields, and plenty of wildlife--squirrels, lizards, and even bees hard at work pollinating. On the way back, we stopped for about 20-30 minutes at Prancer's Farm, where we got to see a variety of animals including goats, pigs, bulls, and sheep. There's also a petting zoo option if you purchase tickets. The farm had a fun seasonal setup for Easter, along with a shop where you can buy fresh fruit, beef jerky, and other local goods. Overall, this was one of the most fun and unique experiences we've had. Literally , the boats have covered canopies! Coordinate with your crew on who's bringing what, and ensure you have snacks, drinks, and music! Is that too slow of a pace for you? Well then, an hour ride on some Jet Skis will do the trick! That's more of my speed anyway! The jet skis fit two people, but I prefer my own. They are way too much fun to share! I'm not getting stuck behind someone, holding on as passenger. I need to be driving! As you exit the marina area you're forced to go slow. Don't let that fool you. Once you move past the designated area, outside the jetty's, then you're allowed to open up the throttle! All the way! You quickly get going on these guys! There is so much to see out there in the sea! If you're lucky enough to ride out near the oil platforms, you'll get to catch a view of Sea Lions and Dolphins. It's a truly 'freeing' sensation to be out there among the wildlife and sail boats. While an hour sounds short for many, this is plenty of time for an adventure. Dear Hubby and I have attended the annual Ojai Holiday Homes Tour for many years. It's a…read morefundraiser for the Ojai Music Festival and its BRAVO Music Education programs, and presented by the Ojai Festival Women's Committee. Each year they typically curate and present four or five homes for the participants to tour. At the same time, a holiday marketplace is held over the entire weekend. you can visit the homes on either Saturday or Sunday, but only once to each home, as they mark off your attendance on your paper ticket. The Marketplace is open both days. This year, they held the market in Libbey Park, and had a plethora of vendors! I ordered our tickets online, and we picked them up at Will Call in the park. Our neighbor also went with us for the drive on a beautiful autumn day, and to check out the homes and their gardens, as well. DH and I took a break for a couple of years after Covid shut down the event. We were out of town last year, as an example. The HHT is normally the third weekend in November. Decor in the homes is provided by local florists, and often feature natural elements, including cut greenery, roses, fruits like pomegranates, oranges, and apples, branches & twigs, and more of that kind of styling. The decorations can range from harvest/Thanksgiving themes, to hints of Christmas, to even New Year's Eve. For my taste, I could go with More! Bigger! However, the homes are often large, and how much decorating can one expect a florist to do for a fundraising event? They are usually done in extremely tasteful style, and as an extension of the character of the home. Many of the homes have their own amazing and unique architectural features, and most also have art collections which the owners are gracious enough to share with the event's paying guests. It's like being able to tour a private gallery. This year was no exception. We had a wonderful afternoon of first shopping at the Marketplace (hello, stocking stuff scores!), and then first visiting a west end view home with a stunning Pink Moment vista, and a highly unique layout. The husband is a musician and producer and his studio was a sight to behold, along with the other aspects of the home. Next it was up Signal Street to one of the most stunning views of the valley from west to east that you might ever imagine. Framed by an infinity pool and an ultra-modern design, it's a signature house in many ways, including stunning art pieces. Next door on the same parcel is alternately one of the most charming cottages you might ever encounter. It was built in the style of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves from the movie, and with a Disneyland feel, as well. Inside dwells the most magical collection of childhood memorabilia, worthy of a museum. Finally, an east end orchard French-chateau inspired home, guest house, and gardens were the final destination on this year's tour. Amazing! Yes, we could live there. Beautiful detailing and craftsmanship showed throughout, and yet it felt cozy and comfortable. The peacefulness of their garden was enhanced by the flautist quartet playing in the garden. Each year, the homes on the tour change. You never know which neighborhoods you'll be visiting, or what style of home will be playing host to the tour. With the ties to the music festival, rotating performers present their musical stylings in the homes, too. It's an experience on many levels to attend this worthy fundraiser. I'm already looking forward to next year. I believe if you go to their website you can sign up to be notified by email about each year's event. Photos aren't allowed inside the homes, but a few exterior shots weren't discouraged, so these are just a taste.

No problem parking at 8:30 AM on a Thursday morning. The river was flowing quite swiftly today and there were three river crossings. The first one was manageable. The second one was a little bit gnarly, and the third one was no problem. I noticed that not many people bothered to cross the second crossing because I was by myself, the rest of the hike. I didn't have to take my shoes off though because I could hop along the rocks and the logs without wiping out. I took lots of pictures because the flowers were blooming and I was just in a joyful place and it was too beautiful not to capture and share. This hike is medicine for your soul, and I would recommend it to every single person because you can go as short as you want or as far as you want And just enjoy whatever you decide.
