It was at 7 pm so their selection was pretty slim. What they did have was delicious! I decided on a Pistachio Bar and a Mango treat. Both were filled with this light and flavorful mousse. The Pistachio Bar had chocolate, vanilla and Pistachio cream with a Pistachio flavored light chocolate shell. The Mango treat looked just like a Mango and tasted just like a mango except mousse/cream. They were ready to help you. They need signs on their desserts so you know what they are. I haven't tried any other bakeries in Dearborn, but I can tell you that my experience here was fantastic. Customer service and friendliness were beyond excellent; but be sure to pack your patience at peak times because this spot was slammed. You take a number when you walk in, and then wait, and wait, and wait for it to be your turn. This isn't for lack of staff, because there were at least a dozen people working behind the counter, it's just because they were packed with customers! The selections are overwhelming and since it was my first visit, I needed help. The young lady who helped me was very patient, told me about the differences in their specialized Arabic pastries, showed me her favorites, customer favorites, and descriptions for anything I asked about. I went with a small sampler tray of her favorite specialized pastries and their best sellers. Everything was delicious! Flavors, textures, uniqueness, complexity...all of it. My whole family raved about all the treats, so we ended up going back later in the weekend and purchasing a couple larger trays of our favorites (and some new selections) to take home and share. We all agreed that the Qatayef was easily our favorite; for anyone who doesn't know, it is a small pancake filled with custard, fresh chopped strawberries, chopped pistachios, and drizzled with chocolate...fresh, bright, and mouthwateringly delicious. The only negative I experienced was that when I visited around 10am on Sunday to load up for our trip home, their selections were very limited, and I was told I'd need to come back after 3pm to get some of the things I was looking for. So, I would recommend calling ahead to see if they have a full selection before you go, if you don't live nearby. Ultimately, if you haven't tried Dearborn Sweets, I'd highly recommend giving them a shot. I was impressed by the Gelato, the colors weren't intense (i.e. not using food coloring), it was a good indicator that natural flavors were used. I don't like a lot of pistachio flavored things because they often don't taste like real pistachio, this tasted of real pistachio (not almond extract that others use). I really liked it and I was impressed. The cheesecake was good and creamy. The menu was varied and lots of other things to try on our next visit. If you are a fan of tiramisu latte, this is the only place to get it. I absolutely LOVE the h&c crossiant. They do add an aioli that might throw some people off, so beware if you are not a fan of mayo or spice. Since opening, service has always been friendly and much quicker. And I love that they changed up the seating areas- they added cushioned seating along the back windows. This is a great place to come for a quick bite, meet up with friends, or even while you're waiting to rotate your tires. A huge plus is, they are open 365 days a year!
