I was then quoted a price for a new tire that was $130 above list price. The long term employees that we all know became uncomfortable and left the room. I instructed them to put the tire back on which they did reluctantly. I then went to another national franchised tire shop near by who said they was no issue with the proximity to the sidewall. I was in and out in 20 minutes and paid $45. I'm guessing that because I showed up with a new European vehicle they figured I was easy meat. Not the same Coast Tire for reasons you can guess. Took car in to TIRECRAFT Stratford for MVI. Was told it needed $1500 worth of repairs. OK. Agree…read moreto that. Come back the next day to pick the car up, and am told that now there are no reverse lights, which are needed for inspection, but somehow were missed when I was originally told what needed to be done to pass inspection. OH, by the way, it needs a wiring harness to get the reverse lights working and that is going to be anywhere from $4000 - $6000, plus labor. Question is, why wasn't this caught to begin with when the car was supposed to have been inspected, and not only noticed after I brought it in to have $1500 worth of work done to it, and that work was done and I was billed for it, BEFORE I agreed to pay almost $1500 to repair other parts so I could have made a proper decision on if it was worth it in total or not. I wouldn't have done ANY of the work had I had the whole picture. Now I did $1500 worth of work on a car I am not going to pay thousands more to repair. Also, I have only taken this car into Tirecraft twice. Once for tire change, and once for MVI. BOTH times I picked the car up, there was an issue with back lights. After the tire change a brake light was out that had not been out when I brought it in. Now, there is no reverse lights, and they are blaming it on a repair 18 months ago...and yes, the car passed MVI in 2025. Should have been given the whole picture on the MVI BEFORE they charged me almost $1500 to get the car passed on inspection, and then told me it still wouldn't pass inspection because it then needed thousands in repairs more - not to mention if the reverse lights were out when the car was supposed to have been inspected for MVI, why wasn't it reported to me immediately? Neglegence at best, dishonest at worst.
