If you love live music but aren't a fan of huge crowds and overpriced everything, this theater is a total gem. First off, the vibe here is just cool and intimate. It's one of those places where, even if you're sitting a bit farther back, you still feel close to the action. The acoustics were great, every note and every lyric was super clear, which really made the performance feel special. Muscadine Bloodline killed it, by the way! One thing I really appreciated: the whole experience felt easy and relaxed. Getting there was a breeze and there's a parking garage directly across the street, so no crazy searches for a spot or long walks in the cold/rain/heat. You can literally be inside the theater within minutes of parking. Inside, the concessions were surprisingly reasonable. I was bracing myself to pay $20 for a beer like most venues, but nope, drinks and snacks were actually affordable. It's a little thing, but it made the night even better. Being able to sit for the show was also huge for me. The seats were comfortable, with a good view from just about anywhere. I loved not having to stand the whole time or jockey for space. It's honestly the perfect size, big enough for a killer crowd atmosphere, but small enough that it's not overwhelming. All in all, the Carolina Theatre just nails it for live shows. Food and drinks came out quickly, and the staff stayed on top of everything without ever feeling rushed. Raleigh Improv is hands-down one of the best comedy venues in the area. You don't feel squeezed in or packed like sardines. There's plenty of room to walk around, the seating feels comfortable, and the overall layout makes it easy to enjoy the show without bumping elbows with strangers. Even the bathrooms impressed me -- large, clean, and well-maintained, which is not something every venue can say. Quick tip: Go to the first show of the night. When we arrived for our 9:30 show, there were tons of parking spots available which was really nice not to have to keep circling the lot like we do for Goodnights. We also had a separate VIP line outside. It was very organized. The only difference between the two comedy clubs when it comes to seating is that your seats are not reserved specifically to your name and an employee points to which seats you will go to. We had awesome seats being that we were third in line! Middle table, on the end, perfect view. Quite a few people were uncomfortable being right on the stage and looking up, so they requested to move back. I did noticed this club can easily have bad seats being in the way back or off to the sides with obstructed viewing. The only way to be guaranteed great seats is to buy VIP and be one of the first people in line. Ordering is super easy and done with a QR code so you don't have to bother anyone around you to get service. The beer was nice and cold but I will say I don't recommend the guacamole and chips...it has corn and beans in it and it just tasted off. The staff are all amazing here, respectful, kind, and quick. They even pick up your dishes throughout the show. It can be a bit disruptive being at the end table but it's not to the point where it's annoying. I appreciate clean tables! Our show was hilarious and they allowed people to meet TJ Miller afterwards as long as you bought his hot sauce. We didn't line up for this, husband was unfortunately not interested (and to be fair, we do own over 20 bottles of hot sauce right now). I've sat in Orchestra, on the first floor, the grand tier, and the balcony and they've all been great. You can see everything. I have enjoyed every show I've ever seen here (Chicago, Wicked, Something Rotten) as well as concerts (Alison Krauss, Singer/Songwriter) to name a few. The employees are SO friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to make sure you know where you're going and that you're having a good time. I'm always impressed with the customer service when I go. They have those Bavarian nuts that are so delightful and a bar with domestic beers and wines. Quite a few soda options to chose from as well. There is a parking deck right next to the venue and if you get there early enough you shouldn't have a problem. There are other parking decks in the area as well. There are numerous places to eat surrounding the DPAC, so many amazing choices. I would highly recommend buying tickets to see a show here and make an evening of it with one of the close by restuarants or bars. Downtown Durham has become utterly amazing!

I've taken my parents to shows here and love that there is even a space for them to sit down if they need to. There are some steps/bleachers along one side wall for people to take a rest. This is so rare for a standing room only venue and so appreciated! Motorco has many great beers to choose from as well as a full bar and alcohol free options. There is definitely something for everyone. There are two bars one of which has a streamlined selection for fast service while the other is full service offering their entire menu of food and drinks. They serve food! I have not ordered food there yet, but everything looks and sounds amazing. It's also just a cool spot to hang out there. You can grab a beer and/or food and sit outside with your dog. I think of Motorco as a place for everyone.

The manager claimed that it was a "human" mistake and that we had to have more "grace" while they fixed it. Then she said we should leave as we weren't the "right kind of people" because we didnt have enough grace. As customers we tried and wanted to have a fun experience and were so disappointed that we did not get that experience. To further complete the disastrous experience, the food was not as promised when we booked...the "chocolate mousse cake" was basic dry yellow cake with chocolate frosting. The host tried, but the whole experience was lacking.
