I'm not sure if it's considered the off-season right now, but when we went, unfortunately, there was no picking to be had. So there's not really too much to do other than sit on some rocking chairs & eat some ice cream (which we did enjoy doing.) I didn't even realize that there was a trail out there until after we had already left and I'm seeing other people's reviews so they may need to put up signs for that in the store area. I feel like the inside is really just ice cream, coffee, and a small little nursery area. Not sure if the drive out there was really worth it for the 15 to 20 minutes we spent out there. The banana ice cream was really awesome though and all of the employees there were very helpful and nice. Definitely a place that you go to when there's an actual event unfortunately we just missed the fall wreath making event Seems like people bring their kids out there to run around the outdoor area. Great farm with short trail and unique wood troll figurines. They have a small garden shop. The staff was friendly and quick to service. They make homemade icecream and sorbet year round. Also they serve coffees and lattes. There is some picnic tables around to enjoy coffee and icecream with a beautiful view of the farm. I tried the coffee leche icecream and the strawberry and green apple cider sorbet. There all great flavors. read more

We never knew this place existed until we saw it on TV. While in Hillsborough visiting another establishment, we decided to stop in. We thought it would be more of a produce market but it seems mainly to be a plant nursery and pick-your-own berry patch (although you can also purchase cartons of berries). We got some delicious juicy blackberries to take with us, as well as some ice cream sandwiches to eat while we sat in their rocking chairs. I have to say I was expecting the strawberry ice cream to be better but it was just okay. We didn't buy any plants but we did wander to the nearby wooden installations of trolls, which kids seem to love. read more

Visited in strawberry season for picking strawberries. There were energetic crowds and friendly staff. We were directed to a particular row to pick strawberries and because of this had plenty to pick. It was very orderly. We stopped by on Mothers Day to check this place out. Little did we know that it's under TWO miles from where we live !!! Strawberries were all picked out for the day but we are looking forward to coming back soon. The ice cream was delicious. Many flavors to choose from. Blueberries and blackberries were great. The one thing that ruined our experience was our interaction with Jennifer. We haven't been here in years so we asked questions and she was rude. Every question made us feel more and more like we were inconveniencing her. By the end of the conversation, she was speaking to us like we were stupid. I went during the strawberry season. I picked a basketful to take home. A full basket ran me about $18. That's about 4 pounds of berries. They are good strawberries, some of the best I've had. We visited Eno River Farms for their U-pick tulips (early March). Wow their tulip fields are breathtaking. We had a blast snipping our own tulips and went a little overboard at $1 per stem. We finished our visit with a scoop of ice cream, which was delicious! Will definitely be coming back for their u-pick strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries! read more

This was a very fun place to go with the family and pick blueberries. My toddler had a lot of fun picking the berries and then enjoying ice cream. They sell a variety of delicious ice cream flavors and frozen treats. There was also fresh produce and plants for sale. The blueberries were the most delicious I have ever had! And the price was great. We went on a Wednesday night because that is when food trucks visit the farm. We had very tasty food from the food trucks that we enjoyed at the picnic tables on the pretty farm. There was a fun atmosphere with other families picnicking and children playing. This was our first berry picking excursion. The beginning of June. We had great weather. Not too hot or humid. The people were all friendly, . The ones that weren't that experienced were able to ask another staff for info. We had a lot of fun and excitement in the fields. They had both strawberries and blueberries. They'll be having blackberries soon. Ask the staff where to find the rippest fruits, and how to tell if they are ready to be picked. They give you a bucket and of you go! We thought we wouldn't pick very much because we'd be on the road and wouldn't be able to fly home with any. However, we were having so much fun, and I admit we ate a few right off the vine, and they were so delicious. We ended up picking much more. Definitely, the blueberries held up better then the strawberries over the next few days. Later we had some of their homemade ice cream and bought other items from the store. This place is a great place for a date. You can pick strawberries and get some home made ice cream before or after. They even have a green house area where they sell different plants. So far, I've been here twice. Once for just ice cream and once for both ice cream and picking strawberries. The strawberries here are very sweet and they just taste a lot better than what you can buy at a grocery store. For ice cream, I've tried cookies n creme and strawberry and hands down strawberry is better at this place. It's a nice place to pick strawberries and blueberries. The farm also has locally made ice cream which is a plus. They have a lot of tables and chairs in the farm. However, the service is terrible. Most of the staff is condescending towards the customers. They just don't give a straight answer. Imagine being a paying customer and having to face such rude behavior from the staff. Until this summer I would have given this place a 4+ stars. We used to really enjoy getting ice cream here with hot fudge sauce. The hot fudge was a nice amount, comparable to Whits or Goodberry or the Parlor. However, earlier this summer my grandson and I stopped in. I ordered my usual hot fudge only to receive nothing but a thin squiggle on top of the whipped cream. Didn't return until today as my grandson loves the patio and assured me the window staff would not make the same mistake. I ordered the hot fudge and even engaged in a conversation with the kid at the window about today being Hot Fudge Sundae day. I asked for double hot fudge. What did I get? Nothing but the same thin squiggle of chocolate on top. And they do charge extra for the sauce. Small covered area, I loved the row of different colored pumpkins and pumpkins sizes. They have a few mums left. The fields were covered as they are growing strawberries. Unfortunately there wasn't much to do other than eat ice cream. Maybe October isn't the best month to visit. There aren't any pick your pumpkin options. The reviews raved about the ice cream so I had to try it out. They offered pumpkin ice cream, coconut, mint, pineapple and sorbets. I ordered a scoop of ice cream-biggest scoop I have had! This new and shiny gem is the brainchild of agriculturalist Keegan Czesak and his geneticist uncle, Jude Samulski. As a part of a senior project at Virginia Tech, Keegan put his dream farm on paper and together with his uncle is making it a reality at the beautiful fledging Eno River Farm. I see every reason for this place to become a popular destination for locals and travelers alike for fresh produce, beautiful plants, and delicious ice cream. There is enormous potential here. I can't wait to see what they do with it in the fall. I was in the area to make another climb to the peak of Occoneechee Mountain, a trek foiled by a throng of humanity who had the same idea. And who could blame them on such a gorgeous day in early September with temperatures around 80 and the dew point in the 50's? So I scrapped that mission and looked for some dessert, which is how I found Eno River Farm. The produce was minimal on this trip, though they had plenty of watermelons. They had some plants, including some nice looking mums. Since I was actually lured here by the idea of homemade ice cream, I stuck with that and ordered a scoop of butter pecan and a scoop of coconut. Both were perfect in every way--creamy, full flavored, delicious, and refreshing, and were served by a cheerful staff of youngsters. They also have blackberry, strawberry, and blueberry ice creams when they have those crops in their fields. About a dozen people were sitting around enjoying each other's company, the gorgeous weather, and the delicious ice cream. Nearby Hillsborough is a really neat and richly historical town that is worth a visit in and of itself. Plus, Occoneechee State Natural Area is here for a magnificent view overlooking Hillsborough and the Eno River. Thus, there is a lot to do and see here. And if you do make it to this area I would highly recommend a stop at Eno River Farm. read more

Drove 30 mins to pick strawberries to try a new place for us. You can only take their buckets into field, which is okay unless you have little ones that each want to hold their own bucket. Not permitted to using little bucket and combining at the end and we found this farm pricey compared to ones closer to home. Each family was assigned a row from which to pick strawberries. We were bumping into people assigned to the row beside us. The two young ladies working the register and the escorting people to the field could benefit from customer service training. read more

This place is super cute! We went with the intention on walking through a pumpkin patch and picking our pumpkins. Though there wasn't a patch, there was a display of many pumpkins you could choose from. They have homemade ice cream and MmMmmm. The smell of the fresh waffle cone definitely attracts you to get at least a scoop in the tasty waffle cone. A couple of our cones were not as crisp as we'd like but maybe that was because it needed to sit out for a bit. I tried the pumpkin ice cream, which was decent for a scoop. I wouldn't buy a pint of it though. Oh! They do have pints of their other flavors, which I'll have to go back and try. They also sell jars of fresh jam and honey. Heavenly! Visiting this farm feels like a countryside retreat! The have freshly made ice cream, sell jams and fresh fruits and vegetables, and host berry picking while in season. We visited on Sunday during strawberry picking season, and it was magical. The strawberries may be on the pricier side, but you are paying for the lovely views. The staff have great training and successfully have implemented social distancing, even while picking fruit. I hope to return soon! read more

It's National Ice Cream Cone Day on 9/22 and I am reminiscing about this past weekend, whereI found a favorite place to get butter pecan in a waffle cone Eno River Farm. This place has lots of Fall vibes ( Happy 1st Day of Fall y'all) from pumpkins, to photo ops with scarecrows, herbs/fruits/veggies, we got 2 Mum plants for $10, and enjoyed some of the BEST locally sourced ice cream ever! Our original intent was to go "apple picking " because that it what my husband saw on a website, however there was no apples ‍..hence the 4 stars, however our visit was not for nothing because we discovered a new place to enjoy a cool treat, buy some local produce and support NC agriculture. We definitely made some sunday funday memories and had some family fun there. Looking forward to going back. Ps..my kid had the coconut ice cream..which she let me have a taste. We accidentally stumbled upon this place as we were looking for Eno a river trails and I figured we'd walk up and see what they had. There was a small selection of squash, potatoes, honey and jam. They also had quite a few watermelons. We were excited to see they had homemade ice cream and waffle cones! I ordered the blueberry ice cream which I thought was delicious... We took our cones to the trail to eat and as I was finishing my cone I noticed a short thick hair baked into my waffle cone. It definitely wasn't from anyone in my family because it was definitely embedded into the inside of the cone. I was so disgusted by that! The actual ice cream deserves four stars. read more

Went the week before their last week of strawberry season, then a couple or so weeks again after that and had a blast despite the really hot weather. This farm is so beautiful and well-managed. There are plenty of parking spaces. When you walk in the nice building, you'll see their little farm stand of fresh produce (vegetables, fruits), their covered area full of potted shrubs, flowering plants, and herbs for sale, and their ice cream stand where they make and sell different flavors of ice cream and milkshake--some of which are seasonal. We did strawberry and blueberry picking and were guided by the friendly staff to where we should go. You can pick as little or as much as you like--you pay according to the weight. You can take the U-pick bucket home or give it back. After exhausting ourselves picking fruits, we treated ourselves with three different flavors of ice cream each! There was so many to choose from. The scoops are huge and most flavors are sweet so 3 scoops might have been too much for 1 person! My dad loved their blueberry ice cream while my favorite was their strawberry and mango sorbet! They have some nice outdoor seating overlooking the farm. We're planning to come back again in Fall. read more

I will never come back to this place. They are over priced and make customers pre-pay before picking fruit that should be charged by the pound. This system is manipulative and forces people to spend more than they want/intend to. I was charged for a full bucket of blueberries even though my bucket was less than 1/2 full. Came for a special kids concert event while I was in town with my niece. This place DOES NOT ALLOW DOGS ANYWHERE on the property. Not even on the cement roundabout. The website doesn't say this that I could see. I understand not having animals around the plants, but to not allow them out front while we were trying to wait for my family seems silly and no risk factor linked to the actual plants of not entering the greenhouse or the fields. read more

Cool place. First time I visited, they had all the fun Halloween decorations outside. Feels like a family business and one that seems to give teenagers an opportunity to get some work experience. I didn't buy any plants and just had ice cream. The first time I had the ice cream (limited edition for Halloween called spooky apple?), it was truly out of the world. Then I came back to get pints of more standard flavored ice creams (think I tried 4), those were all just ok...one was actually not ok.
