It was an easy access with our RV and the area spacious enough for parking. Communication and instructions were nice and easy to follow. We had a nice one night stay and the goats... are TOO cute!! They've really expanded their grounds and really tastefully. Ample parking and repurposeing the barrels and ends of them really adds nicely to the theme. We don't imbibe, but really enjoy coming over when the raptor event happens and to support the wildlife center that cares for them. We visited Mystic Distillery in Durham for a bourbon tasting with a charcuterie pairing. The tasting itself was well organized, the staff was attentive, and the pairing was thoughtfully done. We enjoyed the experience and even purchased a couple of bottles to take home. As we were preparing to leave, the head distiller was asked about barrel prices. Instead of providing a straightforward business explanation, he introduced his personal political views into the discussion and continued in that direction. The tone and context made it clear this was not a neutral remark, but partisan commentary in a customer-facing setting. It was disappointing and unprofessional. Guests come to enjoy a tasting experience, not to hear political opinions from staff. Regardless of anyone's personal beliefs, introducing partisan viewpoints into a paid hospitality experience can create an uncomfortable environment for customers who may not share those views. Because of this, we returned the bottles we had just purchased and left disappointed. We expect businesses, especially those in hospitality, to maintain professionalism and keep political opinions out of the guest experience. We hope management reflects on this. A welcoming environment should mean welcoming to everyone. And money spent is money well earned. read more

Attended the summer cocktail class and could not recommend this enough! Amazing vibe and experience on all fronts. The class included a tour of the distillery. It was way more involved and informative than expected. The owners give the tour and class they are very friendly and entertaining! We had quite a few laughs! The drinks we had in class were also very tasty (on the sweet side but can be moderated). We made two cocktails total. We had a large group when we went but it made for a good vibe as we were able to talk and meet new people as you could mingle after the class and try some of their liquors. My friend and I were in the are for a concert and was looking for something to do during the day and came across this place. This place is so fun! Went on a fun double date and attended the Bourbon and Chocolate pairing class. We started our visit with cocktails at the bar, the bartender was super cool and the music was bumpin! I had a spiked apple cider (tis the season) and my husband had the spiked lemonade - both delicious! After cocktails we moved on to the distillery tour conducted by the owners themselves! This was no ordinary tour, is was packed with fun historical facts and lots of playful banter. We learned about the stages of brewing and had a few tasters. After the tour the was the bourbon and chocolate pairing, this was super fun and interesting - I had no idea the two went well together. We signed up for a summer cocktail class that was far better than I expected. The experience started with us making a great strawberry cocktail before we began a distillery tour. The tour was led by one of the founders and was an engaging and fun time. We learned how they make bourbon, smelled the different phases of the process (you will understand when you go on the tour) , and even got to taste bourbon right from the barrel. We finished the day by making one more cocktail and sampling the rest of their spirits. It was a really fun experience, and I'll definitely be back. read more

I recently visited during their Halloween event and I really enjoyed the grounds and atmosphere. It wasn't busy at all so we were able to walk right up to the bar and order our drinks. The bartender asked our drink preferences to make recommendations but we just went with the Halloween drink specials. I went with the Purple People Eater and they definitely didn't skimp on the alcohol. There's a BBQ food truck out back so I ordered the loaded fries with the brisket. The brisket was tender but honestly pretty fatty so I'd try something else next time. My wife ordered the BBQ Sundae which is essentially a parfait with layers of bbq, coleslaw, and baked beans. The Mystic Farm Distillery is a great location and it just felt nice sitting outside sipping drinks on a warm October evening. read more

My partner and I participated in the bourbon blending class and it was a lot of fun! Pulling in from the highway, you turn on to a gravel road surrounded by trees but shortly after it opens up to a pond and two beautiful looking buildings. Parking was easy and accessible. There were signs pointing in the direction we needed to go for our class. We were greeted by one of the co-owners who led the class. It was very informative and easy for anyone to follow and participate. Water and snacks were provided during the class too. We left with our own blended bottles complete with label and seal. Afterwards, we got a tour of the distillery that included tastings of several of their products. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly and happily answered questions. We will definitely be back to visit and perhaps do another class! My only complaint is that I haven't been here sooner! read more

This place is great. We brought our own food to eat at one of the picnic tables along with one of their mixed drinks. They have a fun variety of drinks to choose from and the ones we tried were all delicious. The grounds are very well designed And scenic. We enjoyed meeting the goats and chickens and for a quarter you can purchase some feed. We have not gone on the tour yet, but it looks like it's a lot of fun. They also seem to have a good number of different events and it seems like there is something for everyone. These include dance classes, magic shows, themed events, and cocktail classes. Happy Mother's Day to me!! Not only did we find the best distillery in North Carolina and taste some amazing bourbon, we also got to jump in on a Bourbon & Chocolate Pairing Class! We were greeted with so much genuine friendliness and smiles we couldn't help but feel welcome! Along with the chocolate pairing we were treated to tastings of many of the spirits they are masterfully creating as well as an informative tour of the distillery process. The farm is beautiful with plenty of space to spread out, move around and explore. The event space is massive and perfect for any event you can imagine especially when you add in all the outdoor space! First time here for - and it was for a wine & design paint night. What a fun spot! Our first drink was included, I had a Dark & Mystic - yum! In addition to their cocktails they also had some beers on tap and canned wine. We had the entire back building to ourselves for the paint night. Went here on a Thursday night for a line dancing class. We had so much fun!!! This is a hidden gem. You can't see it from the road and you would never know it was here. I can't believe we have such an amazing line dancing venue so close to our home. We will definitely be back! And the best part is you can bring teens and the younger crowd here for a great time. They don't serve booze during the classes so it's a safe space for anyone wanting a clean place to go without being pressured to have a beer. ;) read more

We are Mystic fans since first taking the distillery tour a few months ago with Mike. He and the other Mystic staff make you feel welcome and they are great entertainers. The Bourbon is award winning! Today they hosted a Art N Soul Market which is a good Idea for the ambiance and there were a lot of people. The live musician was very talented and sang good songs like "Lose Control" by Teddy Swims or "Too Sweet" by Hozier and many more... The name of the singer was Story Charlemagne. We took a cocktail class which included a. tour with many samples . The two founders did our tour which was very informative (and I used to live in Lexington, KY) . There was a lot of humor in the tour which I appreciated and we learned a lot . Congratulations on your 5 year old bourbon award!! We enjoyed a Saturday night with Harvest Host guests camping at Mystic Farm. What a beautiful space! Movie night was the big draw-- outdoor screen just outside the tasting room and near the clean modern restrooms. They offered samples and the spiced was my favorite bourbon, but they were short on supply and didn't offer any drinks made with it. I look forward when they venture into rum next. Right now it's only bourbon (and hand sanitizer). If you join Harvest Host and your camper/van/bus is self contained you can spend one night at a time. Their parking lot has a view of the pond and is pretty level. What a nice way to spend a Saturday night. read more

Who: Four Out of towners who scheduled a chocolate and bourbon pairing from 4-6pm on 1/11/25. Upon arriving, one of the owners was behind the bar tending to customers from an earlier tour. He called out that he had good news and bad news for us. Our tour was cancelled (so he could leave early due to the previous day's snowfall) but he would give us a free drink and ticket to return another day. We were immediately disappointed and wondered why we weren't called, emailed or sent a text earlier in the day (or offered our money back). We had scheduled our last day in Durham around this tour and paid for an Uber to get there. He disappeared in the back and then told us one of his employees would show us around for a little bit (as he was wrapping up with the previous tour's guests). Most of our group ordered a mystic cold brew as a complimentary drink which was absolutely wonderful (mystic bourbon, cold brew and cream). Into the room walked Bryan, a seasoned employee of 7 years with a military and chemistry background, who proceeded to walk us (plus two others-all women) through the distillery process for the next hour and a half! He took us to the barrel room which was an impressive view of the aging oak barrels storing their award winning bourbon. He was patient with our questions and seemed to reward our enthusiasm. At one point, the owner walked in and was obviously not happy that we were still on property. Bryan graciously offered to lock up for him so he would be free to go, which he did, and without giving us a "thank you for coming and I apologize you didn't get your chocolate pairing" sentiment. We ended our tour back at the starting point which featured a bar and a storefront for purchasing products. Bryan let us sample a few of the selections while he continued to teach us eager students about the company, the property, the owners and how to order online (we were flying home the next day). Our group made MULTIPLE purchases (taking our chances with packing them in suitcases) and I guess you could say that Bryan saved the day AND a negative review. A couple of takeaways....go to mystic. It's a very nice property and the bourbon is legit. Ask for Bryan, not only is he a master of his craft but he dresses as Santa for the customers during the holidays (a real people person one would say). Bryan certainly realizes that a little customer service goes a really LONG way. He also introduced us to Sophie, his dedicated co-worker. And to the Mystic owner working that day, never ever judge a book by its cover. You never know when you are going to encounter four New Orleans ladies who value customer service and respect the art of drinking (also promised chocolate). Don't book here! They will keep your money even when tragedy occurs!! This place kept our $3500 deposit (including the $1000 "refundable" part) even though we told them 15 months in advance that our dad was dying of cancer and we needed to cancel. Then our friends wrote bad reviews and they lied and said that we blocked 6 other people from booking the venue. From their event website they had comedy nights and events the weekend before, the night of our reservation, and the weekend after. When called out on this they have commented back saying we can't "shake them down for money with fake accounts". Honestly, it's just our friends hearing what happened and being appalled. This place is awful. Don't come here. read more

Attended the Yelp Elite event with a friend. It was a nice event and a nice night! A couple of things I would change - near the check in area have a lot more lighting so we can see the table. Also there needs to be more lighting in the parking area, it was very dark going to the cars. Give more instruction, it wasn't until I walked across the bridge that I saw there were games too!! We did have to RSVP so it was a private event and they prepared for more than enough people. Great activities and a good live band that played a great mixture of music! Staff were very nice! Fantastic experience. Did the $20 tour and it was enjoyable and memorable -- and I am not a big fan of bourbon. First, they start you with a strong welcome cocktail. Then a short video, followed by walking through the process to make bourbon. Our tour was given by one of the co-owners. It was informative, insightful and fun. One person in our tour group asked a ton of questions and the co-owner was patient and knew all the answers. I learned a ton on this tour but shared in a fun, light-hearted way. His passion was evident. Then they take you back to the tasting room when you can try pretty much all their products, which were delicious, including their BBQ sauce. It was a great value at about $20 and highly recommend if you are a fan of bourbon or not. read more

After getting dropped off by our DD, we attended the tour that was full of history, laughs, and amazing science! It was very interactive and we were able to taste everything along the way. Did a chocolate and Bourbon pairing class. It was great fun and super interesting! We got to sample several bourbons and learned about the distillation process. You could also take a free tour if you wanted but we were with friends and didn't have the time. We will be back. Mystic was my first distillery tour, and I thought it was wInderdul. Everyone was so knowledgeable, and friendly. The drinks were very good, and reasonably priced. The did an amazing job of explaining the process, and taking through to view everything step by step. I love that they have an area outside with rocking chairs, to just sit and relax with a drink in hand. The location is great as well. It has this lovely country feel, which I appreciate.
