The luncheon special was veal stew. My thought process was I like veal and I like stew so their daily special of vela stew must be da bomb judging by all the other heaping plates of delicious food traveling by our table. As soon as my lunch arrived I was greeted, correction, overpowered by a smell I can only describe as old food in a dumpster. Seriously it was awful. My hosts were happily chowing down as I picked my way through my lunch. I gave up after a few servings and concentrated on my very nice salad and fresh bread. Even my companions stated that it smelled awful. I did try their lunch and it was good so I can't do the one star thing. The service was AOK and I liked the buttons on the table to call your server and/or request your bill. This should be a standard in all restaurants. Yes I would return but not for the smelly veal stew.

The food was good. My wife (Chilena) and I both had the palta con palmito ensalada, which is a…read moreplate with sliced avocados and heart of Palm. Then we both had the pastel de choclo (corn bread like casserole) which was really good and very filling. I washed it all down with some natural juice, apple then raspberry. THEN there was the service. It was by far the worst service I have ever experienced. Our waitress took our order, delivered our food and then we never, ever heard from her again. It was unbearably hot in the dining room, and my wife had to seek out a server when the drinks ran dry and then for the bill. Both were different servers, not ours. Needless to say, neither myself or anyone in my family here in Chile will ever go back.
