Play with the light…read more Solid Light by Anthony McCall was such a fun experience. In a collaboration with the Tate Museum, the Oklahoma Contemporary Art Center has a very unique display. McCall's immersive light sculptures invite you to interact with but not touch the light. So much fun to walk through sculptural beams made of mist and projected light. This sensory experience was truly amazing. It was also a fun challenge to try to capture the images. The 2-D images on film barely scratch the surface of what you will enjoy in the Contemporary Arts Center. Ask questions to learn more. It was so interesting to hear about the installation. The center is just two floors of art. The exhibits change regularly. Parking and entry to the museum are both free. Enjoy the Solid Light.

If I only had time to visit one, it would be the art museum but that is only due to personal preference. If you have time, stop in on both.

With firefighters in the family and having been a volunteer firefighter back in my younger days it has a special meaning. Especially the Wall of Honor for the fallen. We spent about three hours exploring Mix-Tape and still felt like we could have discovered even more. Every room is filled with hidden details, secret passageways, interactive elements, music, lights, and artwork that constantly encourages you to slow down and look a little closer. The experience is whimsical, nostalgic, and surprisingly thought-provoking all at the same time. One of the things I appreciated most was learning about the mission behind Factory Obscura. The exhibit isn't just beautiful--it was created by local artists who are supported for their work. Knowing that the installation continues to evolve with contributions from more than 100 artists made me appreciate every room even more. As a travel photographer, I loved photographing the exhibit. Every corner offered a completely different color palette, texture, or composition. The special diffraction glasses they provide make the lighting even more magical, so don't skip using them while you explore. My advice? Wear comfortable shoes, plan for at least 2-3 hours, and don't rush through it. Open every drawer, look through every little window, touch everything you're allowed to touch, and if you're able, crawl through the hidden passages--you'll discover details most people walk right past. Whether you're traveling with kids, visiting as a couple, hanging out with friends, or exploring solo, Factory Obscura is one of the most creative and memorable attractions we've experienced. It's colorful, imaginative, and unlike anything else in Oklahoma City. We left inspired and would absolutely visit again the next time we're in town.

I spoke with a very pleasant female security guard and she was very knowledgeable and friendly, she answered many of mine and my sisters questions about the bombing. She went out of her way to make us not feel rushed in answering our questions, then she thanked us for being there. I will be back!

This is more than just a memorial -- it's a deeply moving tribute that honors the lives lost, the survivors, and the heroes of that tragic day. The outdoor memorial is beautifully designed and incredibly peaceful. The Field of Empty Chairs, the reflecting pool, the Survivor Tree, and the "gates of time" create such a solemn and respectful atmosphere. Every detail feels intentional and meaningful. Even on a return visit, walking through the site brings a heavy but important emotional impact that stays with you. The indoor museum is also excellent -- well-organized, informative, and respectful. Whether it's your first time or your third, this place leaves a lasting impression. It's educational, reflective, and incredibly well-maintained. A Museum That Makes Edmond's History Come Alive…read more I honestly walked in expecting a quick visit and ended up spending far more time than I planned. That's always a sign of a great museum. The Edmond History Museum does an outstanding job telling the story of how a tiny railroad stop became one of Oklahoma's most vibrant communities. Admission is free, but the experience is worth much more. I enjoyed learning about Edmond's very first residents, John and Cordelia Steen, and discovering how the city got its name from railroad official Edmond Schuyler Burdick. Those stories alone gave me a whole new appreciation for my hometown. Since I'm working my way across Oklahoma's Route 66, the exhibits covering the Mother Road were my favorites. The museum explains how Route 66 changed Edmond forever--bringing automobiles, new businesses, diners, service stations, tourist courts, and a completely different way of life. I even learned that early Edmond struggled with reckless drivers... proving that some things never change! One of the most entertaining displays featured Happy, the Blue Hippo. I've driven past that smiling blue landmark countless times, but I never knew its history or all the adventures it had after being "hippo-napped" by local students. That exhibit alone made me smile. Another highlight was the restored Gem Theatre exhibit, complete with the original projector, theater seats, vintage advertisements, and stories from the projectionists who kept the movies rolling decades ago. It was easy to imagine what a Saturday night at the movies was like in 1950s Edmond. The museum also showcases Oklahoma's unique Rose Rocks, beautiful historical photographs, railroad memorabilia, clothing, china, and countless artifacts that paint a picture of everyday life throughout Edmond's history. The exhibits are well organized, beautifully displayed, and easy to follow. Whether you've lived in Edmond for fifty years or you're simply traveling Route 66, you'll walk away knowing something you didn't before. This museum gave me an even greater appreciation for the community I call home. It's one of those places that reminds you history isn't just about dates--it's about the people, businesses, and everyday moments that shaped a town into what it is today. If you're visiting Edmond or if you live here don't overlook this hidden gem. I highly recommend it. I've lived here 20+ years and I'm just now realizing how much history my city has to offer!

It was very well done by television, film, and theater experts and included facts the people of Edmond experienced in WWII. It was like a Bob Hope USO Tour. Looking forward to next year's program. And there was and continues to be an exhibit (maybe till September) on the Vietnam War. 50 years have passed. It was nice for the vets to be recognized. Our dads served in WWII and husband in the Vietnam War. Programs like this remind us that our freedoms and constitution didn't come free nor do we continue to have our rights without sacrifices. With so many threats to our Democracy today, it is up to each of us to live up to the ideals of the Constitution and due process of law.

This museum represents and honors all sports related people that either played in Oklahoma, or was from Oklahoma!! The prestigious Jim Thorpe Award is displayed here proudly, which is awarded to the top defensive back in college football, and is voted on by the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame!! And while this place represents all sports, you can tell, instantly, that football is the main thing in this state!! The place is immaculate, very well organized, and has a lot to see, including videos and tributes. It's informative and educational, so if you're in the area, you will not regret going here whether you're a sports fan or not, very highly recommended!!!

I completely understand that museums sometimes have to work with what's available, but a warmer, softer lighting setup could really help the exhibits stand out even more. The staff were welcoming, and I appreciated that they offer discounts for seniors, students, and military visitors.
