You can also learn about the five Land Runs in Oklahoma, how OKC managed to become the state Capitol, famous gangsters like Belle Starr, and so much more. The Museum is a cool escape from the hot weather, and if you are looking for some cool state gifts, you will find them here.

It also offers detailed descriptions on how these people lived, what they did to achieve the land, the participants in the rush, and overall outlining the very details that achieved the early parts of Oklahoma settlement. The museum itself is very interactive. It is laid out very nicely and you could easily spend 2 to 3 hours in her going through everything if you took your time. There is a cost to enter the museum varying from children to senior pricing. The 1970s building that occupies the museum is connected building connected to the Carnegie library next door that was established in 1908.

We toured it years ago and you could see all the old equipment and presses as well as the set up stuff over several floors. Don't know what's allowed today. This was more of a walk around tour if the city. The building looks great from the outside. Guthrie has a lot of history having been the original capital of Ok.

Despite the negative review from the other tourist, I really enjoyed seeing this building and the…read morerest of Historic downtown Gutherie. There is so much history in that area and I'm glad that there are plenty of signs/placards in front of historic buildings around town that tell you its story. I really appreciated all of the detail and stories that the historical fund/society put into all of the informational signs. It's fun to look around town from the first State Capital building and see that each building was built in the late 1800s or the early 1900s. It feels like everything around you takes you back in time. I love those experiences. They also offer a trolley ride for a reasonable price which I believe shuttles you around town. The trolley is really neat but I didn't get a chance to take it but saw others enjoying their ride on it. I highly recommend that you take some time to visit and walk around the old parts of a historic town that's been beautifully preserved l and restored.

The building is beautiful and the exterior patio has a grand place to host weddings, showers or any special occasion. The Wayman tisdale exhibit has a nice tribute. The Oklahoma hall of fame is a great recognition of many great Oklahoma's.

Otherwise, I think it would've been more interesting for the kids because after all, you know, kids like to touch things. we did learn some interesting things throughout.

Stacey is an awesome storyteller, and really knows the area better than the back of her hand. Like…read morethe best ghost/haunted walks, I learned some fun tidbits that probably won't show up on a chamber website. She does the footwork and verifies EVERYTHING so not all of the stories are scary, but a few made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. She changes the tour topics during special events, so I am definitely going to her walk during the '89ers weekend.
