If we had been told it was going to be almost 1 1/2 hours to get a pizza we would have had a beer and left. Also, being asked for a 20, 25, or 30% tip at an establishment that requires you to order at the bar, carry your own drinks, pick up your own food to carry it to your table, get your own plates and silverware, AND bus your own table when finished seems a little ridiculous. Running this kind of successful business is a challenge as summer resort folks go home in the Fall, utilities costs are higher in the Winter, and there's competition from grocery stores who are increasingly selling organic goods and local Farmers Markets. Wilder Thymes Natural Foods offers bulk items, snacks, drinks, spices, cooking ingredients, frozen, dairy & gluten-free foods, personal care items and natural cleaning supplies. There's also a kitchen that features ready-made sandwiches to go, baked goods and take n bake entrees. And from their our own farm comes a wide selection of fruits, vegetables & herbs when in season. The shop offers many different flavors, and my daughter absolutely loved the mint chocolate chip. We did have a bad experience where Chef Brad drop our roasted potatoes all over the ground but they made up for it by performing the Iowa State anthem on one leg, complete with light show, for us.
