This is a beautiful new facility! They have a great pool and library. The library is a little…read moresmaller tan the other Calgary Public Libraries that I have been to in the city but none the less it is still a good library. The only thing I think that this library does not have is the stationary computers that you can print fro because with you library card you get $5.00 of free printing a month and I couldn't find a printer for that here. Also their kid zone is a little smaller than the others. They have great programs. One program that I went to on a Thursday was the science program that is in the afternoon and they did a segment on optical illusions!

The YMCA offers plenty of swim classes, but relatively low number of options for land classes given the price of the memberships. The Remington YMCA building is also home to the Quarry Park library which is quite lovely. You do not need a membership with the YMCA to access it.

I didn't really give the "for just about anyone" aspect much thought, until one Friday evening . . . Walking through the lobby towards the rinks, I noticed how many teens were cruising around the building, or just generally hanging out.... not going anywhere in particular, and not carrying any athletic gear. It was notable by their numbers. "Why," I wondered? Is Xbox Live down? Well, it turns out that this facility offers up "teen night" every Friday. For a couple of bucks they gain admission, and they can use the pool, gymnasium, the games area (or "Youth Center") downstairs, etc. Pretty cool, really. Giving teens something non-destructive to do. Otherwise, year round a lot is offered at the ORC: two hockey rinks, curling rinks, a gymnasium, a pool, a skateboard park, an outdoor water "spray park" for the kiddies, soccer and baseball fields... and a fitness club (Natural High Fitness). They even stage a rodeo in the big Murray arena in the summer. This place is a big positive in the community. It gives area residents ample opportunity to get off their butts and stay active.

What a fantastic facility!…read more I play in a recreational sports league called "SuperJocks", where 5 teams of women play a different sport each week. Many of our games are booked at the Calgary Jewish Center, so after a number of years in this league, I am quite impressed with this facility. I haven't seen the entire centre, but the area that I frequent has a very large gym, well-equipped change rooms, and our games are played in a fully stocked gymasium, where we play volleyball, basketball, dodgeball, floor hockey and soccer. I have also taken some yoga classes there, and their yoga studio is very impressive as well! If you live in the SW, definately check out the programs at this center. It is open to all to take fitness classes!
