The coffee and specialty drinks here are excellent - I'd go back just for the coffee - but the breakfast sandwiches and pastries were an added bonus. You can smell the hot oil. When you order, you can't see the machine or the topping bar. What we saw first, at 11:45am on a Thursday was the female owner and her two daughters, we presume, because they were calling her mother and talking about the schedule. We were not greeted. We ordered 2 donuts, paid $5.xx and then the girl walked away. They didn't advise where to pickup or if she'd be back or what. So we walked around the wall and saw it was a glass wall, and you can see the machine. We thought the dough would be dropped fresh, and we would watch production. No, she grabbed what happen to be 2 donuts sitting in the hopper. I was thinking, aren't they supposed to be hot? I said maybe they are.. let's wait and see. So they iced them and topped them, put into a single box and handed us them at the end. We walked out on the balcony, opened the box and they were not hot. They were not "HOT" as advertised. I understand if I'm getting a dozen and I'm obviously taking them somewhere, but when two people walk in and order just two, is it safe to assume they are going to eat them now? If we ordered 3 would they have only made 1 more? Or all 3? I don't understand. We took a few bites and realized they aren't special, they weren't hot and the works and/or owners do not care. Period. There is no second chance and I will make sure to tell everyone about it. 1 bad experience will snowball and that's not what you want. But when your staple product revolves around hot donuts, you serve hot donuts. I won't be back and if anyone asks, I'll tell. Other than that it's not worth bringing up.

I read about this donut truck in Virginia called the Silver Bullet, and I was determined to find…read moreit. The truck moves to different locations on different days, but first after calling the number for Strites and talking to Carl, the owner I mistakenly was given directions to the main store, and not the truck so I picked up a half dozen of their great donuts (blueberry and Bavarian creme were my favorites) but no Carl, whose friendly voice directed me numerous time because I kept on forgetting the different addresses each time before I could get them into the GPS. After leaving the main store and talking to Carl a couple more times I was determined to find Carl (It was on my way to Roanoke ) and the Silver Bullet, thirty some feet of donut making perfection. Finally pulling onto the lot where donut magi was taking place, Carl, and I had a nice chat, and I was lucky enough to go in and see his fine operation up close. I found out that Carl besides working his donut business that he started many years before with his wife, Miriam, from the back of a truck) has a ministry for prisoners, and also feeds the hungry, he has even worked in Camden New Jersey doing G-ds work which is up close to my neck of the woods. Well these donuts are some of the finest that this old Hotdog World Champion has ever eaten and my new favorite is Strite's glazed jelly filled long boy. Go track down Carl, and the Silver Bullet down yourself, or hit the main store, you'll be glad you did...

It's marvelous with a cup of coffee. The other donuts looked promising, but be sure to try these bestselling items if it's your first time visiting this place. My wife, two teenage sons, and I were stopping by Harrisonburg, VA for a lunch break on our 4-hour drive to Blacksburg, VA from northern Virginia. We found a coffee place nearby (Merge Coffee Roasters) close to the EMU campus and saw this place. Everyone devoured the donuts - we liked it so much that we had to buy another one. Overall, I would recommend this place which is very clean and has a few small tables (it's more of a "grab-n-go" place). It has prompt, attentive service. If you're driving along I-81, Strite's Donuts has several other Virginia locations, including Winchester, Front Royal, Strasburg, Woodstock, and Waynesboro.

The shop was very clean and smelled delicious the moment you walk through the door. The lady working the counter greeted me the moment I walked in. I told her it was my first time visiting, and she welcomed me, asking if I had any questions. I asked for her recommendations, and she gave me a few of her favorites. I will be very honest, I am typically a Krispy Kreme or Country Style Donuts kind of guy. I don't step outside of those realms. I am very particular about my donuts. However, I am so glad I stopped by here. I ordered the Raspberry Truffle and Blueberry Cheesecake (I think). The donut was very, how do I describe the texture, it was a cake-like donut. Very fine and crumbly texture. It literally melts in your mouth. I wasn't a fan of the icing on the Blueberry Cheesecake; however, the Raspberry Truffle's toppings were absolutely delicious. Although I didn't like the icing on the Blueberry Cheesecake donut, the donut itself was absolutely delicious, which is the reason this rating remains five stars. I would absolutely recommend this place, and if I'm ever in the area, I'll be back for sure! Head over to the website, the pictures of the donuts are literally how the donuts looked in person!
