Small yet nice place, worth the stop. Prices seem reasonable with a nice staff and exceptional (in my experience) coffee. 10/10!

The town itself has that perfect mountain-arts vibe--historic brick buildings, quiet streets, and a steady flow of hikers, skiers, and road-trippers--and TipTop fits right into that rhythm. The shop is cozy and unpretentious, the kind of café where the warmth from the espresso machine and the conversations around the room cut through the mountain chill. It feels local in the best way--welcoming without trying too hard. But the real highlight is the coffee. The cup I had was excellent: clean, balanced, and clearly prepared by people who care about the craft. It had the kind of clarity and sweetness that stands out, especially when you're used to road-trip coffee stops that are just "good enough." This was genuinely memorable. If you're passing through the Canaan Valley / Blackwater Falls area or chasing powder at Timberline or Canaan Valley Resort, TipTop Coffee is absolutely worth the stop. It's proof that even in a small Appalachian ski town, you can still find a cup that would hold its own in much bigger coffee cities. A mountain gem.

Wanting to share that above sandwich, was handed a "butter knife" and told they could not cut it. Hmm, how did they slice that bagel in kitchen? Served only in a leaky paper sleeve, was told there were no plates. But saw them sitting clean on shelf. Paper cup, no mug. But I could buy a handcrafted mug, for $60. They had chocolate bars: $10 for 2 oz, made in yes, Brooklyn. (Did I not chose to travel to WV?) TT trying hard to be hipster. Later visited Happy and More bakery/cafe one block down. Friendly, cozy, coffee was $1.50 less AND free refill. Nice homemade baked goods. Cafe is well-named.

One of the coolest bar tenders - expert at the craft, and filled with energy. Feels like he really wanted me to enjoy myself, which is just a lost art in hosting / hospitality. But it will be expertly planned and prepared. The flavors were perfect. The presentation was beautiful. And I did not expect most of the dishes to be foreign or fusion! The chef, truly is someone special. It is, somehow, exactly the imaginary new American foodie place I imagine in my dreams. The ideal or the prototypical. Deeply aesthetic, with the lights and decor. And not understated, or clinical, which is hard to pull off. It definitely has a vibe, feeling intimate and lived in, while still being clean and pleasing. Cute garden out back for a few parties to enjoy the open air and the pleasing greenery.

I've been to The Fiddle more times than I'd like to admit, but tbh each time is more and more enjoyable. The vibes of this place are always 10/10, the food is always 10/10, and the music is always 11/10. I have had every single thing on their menu over the years and I have never had anything here that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. The same in regards to their vast beer selection. They always have something to quench your thirst, trust me! I have brought numerous people to this place since its opening and each person will still remind me of that great time we had here. I've came here during all seasons and all months and there isn't a bad time to enjoy some great music, some great food, some great coffee, some great ice cream, some great beers, some great hospitality, some great people and some great atmosphere. I stopped in recently with my gf while visiting a friend in the area and we enjoyed their amazing world peace wrap and a delicious locally sourced IPA and sour, and just like each time before, top notch! TBH, she still talks about that wrap which I have had myself personally at least 20-30 times over the years, as it's my go to. This is one of those gems that every small town wishes to have and while most businesses in Thomas come and go this one in particular has stood its ground and continues to be an amazing destination for all walks of life to enjoy. I can't thank the owner enough for bringing this place to Thomas many years ago because each time I walk through those beautiful old doors I know I am going to walk out of them with a smile on my face. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've stopped her to get gas before and knew about the liquor store but had no idea about the pepperoni roll bakery hidden inside! Pepperoni rolls are near and dear to my heart. They are comfort food from home. I have rarely found them outside of West Virginia so when I visit I pretty much eat a pepperoni roll diet for a week. The pepperoni rolls here are a bit different. They are soft and light and fluffy. Most of the ones I find are made from a thicker bread that's heavy and dense. I find the pepperoni and cheese ratio in these to be perfect. Not too much of any one ingredient. I tried the special of the week which was Crab Rangoon and I wish I didn't--not that it was bad, it just wasn't a real pepperoni roll. Then of course I got a regular one and a jalapeño one. My son got one regular and as we at them in the car he asked if he could have another so I gave him my card and back he went. They were about $4.50 each. Later when we came back through town after going to Blackwater and Douglas Falls, he asked for yet another and of course I obliged. I took mine to Blackwater Falls and ate it there. Nothing like enjoying West Virginia's most iconic waterfall while eating its most iconic food (sorry WV Slaw dogs). The liquor store here is convenient. Prices were only slightly marked up except on one bottle. The distillery and other stores have it for $65-69 and they had it for $110. I would have purchased it for the real retail price. They had a great selection of WV bourbons which was very nice. We will definitely be stopping here now each time we pass through, especially since Hellbenders closed.

The young lady who was working Thursday night (11/10/16), "Angel", was as sweet as can be. She welcomed us with a smile and gave us some tips on where to find some place to eat the next day. The next morning, my husband and I returned to the station to pick up some coffee and a quick breakfast. There was a young man behind the register and an older lady in the back by the coffee. Neither one of these employees made eye contact or smiled when we greeted them, but we felt their stares as we got coffee and sat down in a booth to eat a sandwich even though we asked if it was okay to sit down in the booth to eat. We left thinking, maybe they were upset they had to work on a holiday? We returned later that evening to buy some bottled water and another older gentleman was behind the register carrying on a conversation with a young lady about correctional officers in a women's prison who if I am not mistaken had exposed themselves to the female inmates. Whatever, none of my business... I got the merchandise I wanted to buy ready and placed it on the counter once the young lady had left and the counter was clear. I tried to make eye contact with the man at the register and said, "hello, how are you?" but he ignored me and instead rang me up complaining that his scanner would not work properly. As I paid him, again I smiled and tried to engage him but he avoided my efforts. Okay, so why should I care right? I guess where I come from people actually try to be nice if they work in customer service, so it was weird to be totally ignored. Hopefully, "Angel" can find a way to rub some of her pleasant personality off on her coworkers.... Sincerely, Happy to be back home in Virginia
