    Old Apple Barn

We arrived, just as they were closing! The ladies were kind enough to let us and look around and get some snacks, and some of the famous fudge before we headed out. Super friendly, super cute store, excellent fudge! Recommend that you stop in here and check out this little shop with all the fun Knickknacks.

Technically this would be a ten out of five stars but sadly I'm limited to only five! This is just good old American at its finest. I'm hardly a pie person and apple is generally my last pick at the barbecue but this apple pie was really just something else. The crumble topping brought joy to my tastebuds. I was truly tickled pink and regret that I was only traveling through town for the day. I'd almost move here just to get a slice of that apple pie regularly. Super cute knick knack type souvenirs and fudge if pie isn't your jam. And speaking of jam-they of course have that too. An entire shelf dedicated to it. Butters, salsas, and various spreads galore in addition. Thanks to Beverly the sweet owner. Keep on rocking and being amazing, girl! I hope I am able to make it back.

A really cool stop on your way to Cloudcroft! I highly recommend grabbing a slice of pie and cider OR one of the floats. Plus the gift shop is fun to wonder around. I got a few kitchen items I was looking for and a sweet Smokey Bear magnet to add to my national parks collection. Additionally, the Apple Boy is a selfie must.

I set my expectation too high, likely. I was so excited to see this place after reading about it in a recent AAA travel magazine. It's still a cute place and has wonderful Knick knacks and friendly staff. I was hoping for some fresh apples, but that's not what this store is.....still worth a stop if you're traveling on Highway 82, between Alamogordo and Artesia. Beautiful drive, too! But not many amenities along the way.

Great little store that we stop at whenever we are in Cloudcroft. Sometimes we will get the homemade pie or fudge, they also have designer sodas and cherry cider. This is a large gift shop with lots of interesting and neat things. I have always found something in the store for myself or as a gift.

A must stop!! Apple pie and ice cream is soooo good. They also have brownies, carmel apples, fudge and more. There is also a ton of nick nacks, toys and seasonal home decor. If your in cloudcroft visiting this is a cool place to get a souvenir for yourself or gift!

Make sure you put this on your GPS fairly easy to drive by. This country store has many unique items inside is plenty of laughs on the T-shirts, dish towels, and plaques. Smells of homemade apple pie, pecan pie, chocolate covered apples; all are very delicious especially with vanilla ice cream. The cherry cider and piñon coffee is a must have before leaving. Very Friendly owner and staff. I would return again and again.

Great place to stop while in the Cloud Croft NM area. A great selection of curios and nic-nacs. Excellent frozen apple cider and made-there fudge. Don't forget to visit the restaurant next door too. This is a must stop when in the area.

The Old Apple Barn is a family tradition! I've been visiting it since I was a little girl going to camp in nearby Mayhill. It has changed shape a couple of times over the years but the quality has never faltered. It's still a great family run place with delicious treats and great home decor! The souvenirs we have purchased here are treasured pieces throughout our home and we love telling the stories of our trips when people ask about them. And believe me, people always ask where we got them because they are so gorgeous and eye catching! My father in law LOVES fudge and he adores when we bring him back some! We bring him back a ton - which means we love their fantastic specials that allow us to buy in bulk without a giant price tag!

We had never been here. The road getting there can be nerve wracking but we really liked the Old Apple Barn. They have a ton of neat stuff, but a lot is kind of pricy. We didn't get to try the fudge or pie yet so we'll definitely have to make a trip back!

I had to save my 400th review for Old Apple Barn because I needed to commemorate my trip here somehow. It's such a cool place for a stop so if you're passing by I implore you to hightail it for OAB! My boyfriend and I have made a couple of trips that have brought us maybe 30-40 minutes from OAB so never close enough that it was actually on our way to our destination, but close enough that we saw at least two billboards that simply said "Old Apple Barn" which always lead me to immediately Yelp this allusive place. On our last short road trip we were coming back from White Sands and I was adamant that I NEEDED to go to OAB. I just needed to know what it was all about. So my boyfriend humored me and added the hour and thirty minutes round-trip to our drive. OAB is magnificent! First off, the drive to it is beautiful. We were winding on roads that took us up the mountain and through a tunnel and just gave us an overall gorgeous landscape to ooh and ahh at. OAB is planted all by its lonesome looking out to the cabins and houses on the hills. Arriving, OAB just game me that homey feeling that I only get once in a blue moon, but I never want it to go away. We walked up the stairs not knowing what to expect on the inside and what we found was an emporium of delight. The first thing that caught my attention was the little train that was making it's way above our heads, full speed ahead! AOB is lined with shelves full of toys, book, nick-knacks, picture frames, magnets, cleverly worded signs, decorations and more. There was no way we were leaving without purchasing at least one thing. I spotted a key cover with my name on it (and believe it or not my name properly spelled is really hard to come by) so I knew I had to have it. After going back and forth trying to decide what was good for Charles, he landed on a Swiss Army knife with his name burned into the wood paneling. We came all this way and realized we were hungry and as it so happens they also have specialty hot dogs, ice cream, fudge and other delicious delectables too numerous to mention. We went during the winter so there weren't apples being sold, but from what I understand, they do sell apples during apple season... they did however have caramel apples that looked ginormous. They also had an interesting selection of sodas... I'm not sure if they make it themselves, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did. We both opted for hotdogs and a piece of fudge. The fudge is creamy and full-bodied. They had so many different flavors of fudge it was almost impossible to choose... somehow I settled on the Kahlua Espresso. Amazing! I ended up with just the barn dog and it was good, but after I took a bite of the Elk dog I wanted to switch. I grew up eating Elk, Venison, and the like so there was something about it that just tasted like home. Both were so good though! Oh, I almost forgot... we also picked up a bag of the Green Chile Garlic Almonds. Those were tasty and were great on the ride home. I loved that seating is all outside on the patio. It's a large patio so you'll be just fine if you brought the whole gang with you. We chose to sit in the patio chairs as opposed to the tables they have out there because it was nice just looking out to the woods while chowing down on our new found treasures. If ever you should pass a sign that says "Old Apple Barn", immediately change your plans and head straight for OAB... unless you were already on your way to OAB, then in that case you're already doing yourself a huge favor!

Just finished some pistachio fudge out on their patio. Oh... good lord... having a hard time not getting into more... We "took advantage" of the buy 4 get 2 free with the fudge. A rare treat, and oh it IS a treat. So... 5 stars on the fudge, hands down. (We also sampled the peanut butter chocolate and dark chocolate... which we subsequently bought... mmmm...) Also note! Their fudge is free of evil glutens... which means nothing to me but is helpful to many. :) The rest of the store has anything and everything. While I can see how some people hate on it for being "meh" after driving a long way out of their way for it, what do they expect? It's a country store. It's THE country store. It's a super fun place to stop and it's got something for everyone. And the sweets are plentiful and have a wide selection. The other thing that made our trip was the people. Great staff. We'd stop again for sure. Not sure of we'd drive an hour out of the way for it, but we'll definitely stop here again. UPDATE: favorite fudge was pistachio and peanut butter chocolate. Runners up were dark chocolate and mint chocolate. All were still delicious, but I thought I'd rank them. I'd put the pistachio at the very top, which surprised me. It was ... to die for. :)

Fun little store with friendly workers! A bit overpriced but that's to be expected in a tourist town.
