Always a go to spot when I'm in Alamogordo. Great food and service. Great comfort food.

The service was friendly and had a very quaint family vibe. The green salsa has a nice flavor but I wish it was slightly less watery and had maybe some hatch chilies in it. The chips were thick and crunchy. The red salsa was actually better and spicier but served in really small containers so I couldn't dip chips in it but I made it work, poured it over the food too! I ordered the amigo quesadillas with brisket and the green chile enchiladas with chicken and half a dozen of tamales. The quesadillas were really good. I would be willing to have this again. The enchiladas were decent. I felt like the green sauce was a little light and runny but the chicken was soft and shredded well. The red tamales had great flavor, I just wish they allowed you to buy them by the piece, I was just passing through and ate 2 tamales and left the rest in the hotel freezer read more

I have driven by Amigos Bakery for a long long time. I thought it was just a bakery.Boy was I wronged. Amigos has the best mexican food in town. Their burritos are so good. We went through the drive-thru at the new location on White Sands. Ordered the Ramon Burrito and added green salsa on the side. The tortilla was fresh and the burrito was very mild, but had good flavor. Everyone working was very nice. read more

Their bean burritos are delicious! And I always love one of their little piggy cookies!

More than a bakery! I had the Mexican combination plate and thoroughly enjoyed it. Home made quality and flavor. The baked goods looked great but I didn't have room for anything else after that big lunch. I will return to try a little something else another day. Typically food tastes good. We go almost weekly however over the course of 2 years, twice we felt like we had food poisoning. Green Chile on smothered burrito most recently and tacos previously caused sever GI problems and vomiting. David and his staff are the friendliest people around. We stopped in and had a delightful lunch with them. It is way more than a bakery. Although, their sweet rolls are scrumptious. Pat and I each had a combination plate. The tacos were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside with one corn tortilla. The enchilada sauce was delicious. While spicy, it was not too hot for our Central Texas tastes. Their salsa was absolutely delightful. We had to put a small amount on our chips because it did have some fire in it. my recommendation is you better get here for breakfast or lunch as quick as you can. read more

So I from here for delivery and it was amazing. The tacos were really good the tortilla shell you could tell was homemade it was crispy but not greasy at all. I also got the steak and potato green chili breakfast burrito. The streak was tender and juicy and full of flavor. My husband for the sausage breakfast burrito and that one was really good as well. And for all the food I got their prices are bet reasonable the breakfast burritos were only $6 a piece and the tacos were three dollars. I will definitely be ordering my breakfast from here more often. read more

I went in and bought three things out of the case. I've only been there once, so I don't know what their other foods are like. The ambiance was good, the staff reasonable, and the menu large. I was just very confused at the quality of the baked goods I got. When I was walking out, I bit into the big pink cookie they offer and realized that it didn't have the flavor I was looking for. I wasn't able to finish the whole cookie and threw a bite away, later on. The donut I bought wasn't sweet enough, but it was nice with honey squeezed on top, at home. The last thing I tried just now was the brown pig cookie, and it tasted a little bit like pizza dough. I've had these cookies before in Telluride, and they taste sweeter, there. It's really a shame, because the price was under $5 for these three goods, yet I won't be going back due to the flavor profiles being so below average. Step it up guys! read more

We have a place up the mountain and come here from Phoenix, first of all I can't believe anyone would say that this place is overpriced! I man, what do you wanna pay?? People should go to other cities and see what the prices look like, El Paso and New Mexico have the lowest prices ever! Even after being raised I'm sure in the passed few years they are reasonable, I men have you been to the grocery store lately? The food is amazing, it's like you Grandma, Mom, and Aunts cooking. I love the Chile con carne and potato, burritos, the combination plate with, taco ,enchilada, relleno, rice, beans. The donuts are some of the best I've had! I would give it 4 stars only for wait time but you know it's a small place, they seem to have plenty of employees but they are super busy which that alone speaks to the popularity and how good it is, obviously it's worth the wait. It was for me. The building it self is older but it's clean inside and that's what matters, it felt homie to me. I want to try everything on the menu! I didn't get the "rude" vibe, it's more like they are just super busy and trying to get it done. They were nice to me and they knew a lot of people's names that walked in, for sure this is one of those locally owned hometown treasures so I would not rule them out over negative reviews, must try for yourself. Again, a plate of three tacos and rice and beans for 11.00 is a great deal! If you think it's a lot then I would suggest you go buy the ingredients and go home and make it yourself. Just sayin'. This is a locally owned business with outstanding burritos, Mexican food plates, pastries and more. The food is outstanding, the tamales tasty, and a good variety of donuts, pastries, etc. There is a sit down area to eat in or you can carry out. The burritos are big and full of filling (I prefer the red chile burrito). I give them 5 stars (out of 5). We try to patronize locally owned small businesses as often as possible. read more

We stopped in this morning to try the conchas. The kind gentleman helping us found out we were from out of state and had never been to an authentic Mexican bakery. He walked us through the different bakery items, offered us a free sample, and ultimately gave us the best tamales we had ever had! Everything we had was amazing! What a gem! The meal choices were extensive and wonderful. All of our selections were fabulous! They also are a bakery so of course we grabbed some empanadas and cookies. We love Amigos!!! Everyone is always friendly & our food is consistently delicious!!! The green chile meat burritos & the taco plate are hands down the best in Alamogordo. We've never had to wait more than 10 - 15 minutes for food wether it was called in or ordered when we arrived. I bet the rest of the menu is yummy too but I just can't stay away from the tacos to find out! read more

Where the locals eat! New baker! New baker! Unfortunately the previous baker hurt himself causing Amigo's to find someone new. I don't know who this person is, but they are throwing down! Orejas with chocolate intertwined in the center! Vanilla conchas that are soft, moist, with traces of a vanilla after taste! The pan dulce confuses the mouth into thinking, "am I eating cake or bread?" That is what is my favorite about pan dulce! Sweet, fluffy, light! This new baker NAILS it! HIGHLY recommend Amigos. This is a local favorite and I can only say the new baker has upgraded the quality and flavor of the pan dulce. You MUST get the menudo on the weekends. A small bowl fills me up just right leaving enough room for some pan dulce. I did prefer the bolillos from the previous bakery, but everything is delicious and on point. Comparing to Laredo's bakery - both menudos are delicious. Both establishments are super friendly. Prices are very reasonable. However, with this new baker at amigo's - I prefer the pan dulce now at Amigo's. Honestly, you cannot go wrong with either business! read more

Nice place for lunch deals. I stopped by this place to have lunch during a recent business trip I made to Alamogordo and I enjoyed myself. Prices are very affordable. I had a green enchilada plate, the salsa and cheese were prepared and combined just perfectly. However, rice and beans are pretty standard. The place also offers pan dulce, so perfect dessert! Been here a few times. The food is always fresh and good. I usually get in and out. Not today. 10 people who ordered after me got their food and left. A few minutes later the girl at the counter inquired about my food. Took another 15 minutes to get my food. I understand things happen. We arrived hungry, ordered two taco meals to go. 15 minutes later the to go containers were empty and our bellies were full. Excellent meal and fast service. Service and seating areas are basic but clean . Don't be surprised if you have to wait in line for a few minutes. There's lots of Mexican style bakery choices and a few traditional American as well. This review is specially for their menudo. I've been told so many times to come down and try this place out. They only serve menudo Saturday and Sundays. I came in , it was nice and quite not too busy. I ordered a small plate of menudo which was $5.00 , I added extra tripe for $1.50 and got myself a super refreshing Mexican coke ! I'm from California and I'm used to menudo being served with corn tortillas. I asked if could substitute or buy corn tortillas for an additional charge and they said they didn't have any. So I went with their pan blanco. I took a seat and the sweetest lady came to serve me my plate. The menudo I ordered came with a side of chopped onion , a slice of lime, chile and a pan blanco. This red Chile is NO joke. It's so good and spicy ! Goes perfect with the menudo. You've been warned lol take it a little at a time. They have oregano on the table which is a huge plus for me ! I've never had pan blanco with menudo and it was actually not that bad. The bread was soft and the flavor wasn't over powering at all. The broth of the menudo was pretty salty for me and it reminded me of canned menudo they sell in stores ): I added some lime and Chile and it seemed to help a little. The tripe was DELICIOUS !! Very tender and boiled to perfection. Overall it was great. If they offered fresh chopped cilantro and corn tortillas , I would definitely give their menudo 5 stars.
