Old corkscrew golf course is absolutely gorgeous. Every staff member was courteous, friendly, and professional. From the guys waiting to greet me at the bag drop area, to the people inside the pro shop during check-in were all cordial and helpful. We Teed off right on schedule, and finished 18 holes and just over four hours. The course was in great shape from T box to greens. It's a challenging course for sure but a great track. The scenery was amazing, and we encountered a few good sized gators along the shore lines. All in all it was a great experience. They also had very nice golf shirts, hats and attire. Whoever picks out the clothing there has great taste. I will be going back to play this amazing course. read more

Impressive how horrible these greens are. $200 for a round of golf to putt on sand. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone unless they were looking to spend 8 hours on the beach. Another issue with this embarrassment of a course: letting members Tee off whenever they feel it's right for them. Had a Tee time at 1:16 on a Thursday afternoon. Got pushed back to almost 1:45 due to "people squeezing in a round". Not only do they over charge for the sandbox of a course they let anyone with a corkscrew bag tag go right ahead. Lastly, what is the reason businesses in the United States don't accept Cash?? They have a big Flag and red white and blue all through the pro-shop yet won't let you pay with the American currency. Right on Corkscrew. You might be thinking this is anger from a bad round. I broke 80 (79). Writing because it's a absolutely ridiculous for people to think this is a nice course when booking online. I love that course and wanted to show it to my European friends. Being members here in another club, playing old corkscrew is always something special for us. Especially when we can play it in the summer for way less money. However, the greens were in the worst shape I have ever seen in my life. Unplayable. Nobody told us up front and and when asking at the front desk nobody seemed to really care. I even receive the regular newsletter from that club and they sell the club in great condition. Be careful of the cost when you book your tee time and the cost when you get there. I booked a tee time for 12/24 as soon as if was open for $105 a person. The confirmation they email doesn't show the amount but now I see tee times are $185 a person so I log in and yep they jacked up my tee time to $185. That course is not worth $185! Old Corkscrew is a great layout. The course is absolutely beautiful from tee to green. I have now played it twice. The first time a year ago and the course was impeccable. Played again today. The course was beautiful to the green. The greens are without a doubt the worst I have played in SW Florida. I am not sure if they were hit with disease or someone got over aggressive with fertilizer. i can't pay their prices for s course with greens in this condition. this course was the definition of dogs*it (literally because there might of been some on the greens). With the condition of the greens, this course is worth $20 to play. Absolutely the biggest rip off I've ever have been involved with. I've been playing golf for 50 years and have never seen greens in such terrible condition!! What a complete waste of $292.50! My group had lunch there, the service was sooo slow but the food was good! Old Corkscrew is a tough test of golf, and I knew that going in. What I didn't expect was the condition of the greens. They had some kind of issue, and I was putting on green sand all day. Played old Corkscrew today. What a disappointment. The green and the tee boxes are in horrible condition, most of the fairways are good however a lot of the bunkers were flooded or still are? I know we've had a lot of rain but I would of thought a course of this status would have a great draining system. We started on the back 9 which is pretty common , they were not starting from the front 9 today. however when we made the turn and headed to 1 I noticed a 5 some on the tee box? I ask the starter why is there someone ahead of us and his reply was the general manager decided to start sending people off the front 9 also. The threesome in front of us was so mad they quit according to the starter. We were moving along nice until we encountered the 5 some (why are they letting a 5 some out?). over 1/2 hour longer on back 9 than front. We had 2 groups (7 players) from a reciprocal course that will never play here again. read more

We played Old Corkscrew 3 days ago and i have never been this dissapointed in a golf course. staff, range and course were all excellent. the greens were the worst that i have ever seen and i play in chicago. they were rock hard and impossible to make a true roll with your putt due to the horrendous conditions of the greens. see pictures attached. it was towards the end of the round that i started documenting the greens with pictures. almost all of them were this bad. in my opinion i think that you would be happier playing anywhere else for half the money. read more

Ok, let's start with arriving at the club and no carts available so we have to carry our bags around to the range and practice facility. Second, the cart guys were not the least bit helpful, mostly rude, and the ranger was a homophobic ass. Third, the course was in horrible shape. I was cautious about playing here due to prior reviews about condition of the course. However, we ended up with a very pleasant golfing experience. The greens were very fast and you had to adjust to them. If you did not adjust your comeback putt was longer than your first putt. It is in a naturally wooded area with no homes anywhere on the course. There are tall pine trees on some holes which give you the feel of a North Carolina golf course. They have a live cam on the 17th par 3hole. If you pay $10 entry fee, you can win big if you score a hole-in-one. The facility is well-managed by a friendly staff and it is new and modern. read more

I have no choice but to take away a star. The course doesn't seem as green as last year, though it's still in very good shape. The staff are still very friendly, but they had trouble managing a celebrity today (Smokey Robinson is in town). The starter moved us up a hole because 4 holes were open after Smokey's fourseome and he was holding everything up. After we finished 18 we were told that we could not go back to the 8th hole because of a shotgun that left in the afternoon. I went in to speak with a manager and he was just leaving with a walkie-talkie to kick them off the course because they still hadn't finished their round and it was screwing up the entire day. The Management should have done this sooner. It was 90 degrees out and it's a 144 slope to boot - I didn't need the extra delay on top of it all! Anyway, it was obviously a tough day on the links for yours truly (my wedge and I did not have a good working relationship) but I enjoy Old Corkscrew and I'll be back some day. read more

played here a month ago. we asked how the greens were before we chose to play this course and they said the greens were fine. instead of listening to the word around town the last 8 months, we played this course and they were the absolute worst greens I've putted in years. not only the fungus, but the greens that were not dirt, rolled like crap. they were an embarrassment. no cart girl either, and drinks are wayyyy over priced. bad golf experience all around. never going back. Played morning of 3/25/23. Man behind the counter said fees reduced to $220 because there were some fungus spots on 5 of the greens. Turns out most of the greens have fungus problems, about six were almost unputtable, and they all were cut so high that you needed a shoulder turn to get the ball to the hole. Weather: 90+ degrees very humid. Play-date: 10 July 2019 Greens: 8/10 Very good.  Rolled true. A bit sandy BUT that is the nature of course maintenance in the summer months in SW Florida. Fairways: 9/10 Very well maintained. Expected number of divots both repaired & un-repaired. Bunkers: 8/10.  Even with all the rain as of late, the course was draining VERY well and the staff worked hard to keep bunkers playable! Thank you!. Tee Boxes: 9/10.  The staff is moving tee markers well on Par 3s and the repair cycle seems to be very good. Course cart services: 3/10.  We never saw the cart attendant. Expected frequency 3x (every 6 holes) in 90+ degree / heavy humidity weather. On-site restaurant: 9/10. "Melissa" was VERY good even when the place was packed. Management; get her some help from 11am - 2pm! She did great with so many customers but you are running her to death at lunch! Staff; 10/10.  Greeted well and treated well. The gentlemen at the bag drop were very helpful and processional. The starter was very good at keeping us informed and was very friendly. Practice Facilities: 9/10.  Range balls were provided with green fees. Practice putting green was true. Miscellaneous: VERY nice track. The course is a "position" test. Long hitters will be penalized. I used my driver 1 time and it paid off to be conservative. The course makes you play well around the greens. If you can hit greens from 150yds and in, you will do well, else you will be pushed to get up-&-down all day. (go practice!) Great course Mr Nicklaus! Course score: 65 out of a possible 80.  (81.2% enjoyment factor)  Will we return?  YES.  Great layout and experience! One of the better tracks in town! Please Read Entire Post. Lengthy but must know if you plan on playing there. Let me first start by saying this course is fabulous! The condition was fantastic and greens are top notch with great speed and very true roll. The design and layout is very challenging, it is not easy by all means. If I was just rating the course and condition it would get 5 stars!! My review and star rating reflects how we were treated by the "Ranger" on the course. As aforementioned this course is challenging for all level of skilled players. Our group consisted of seasoned players with handicaps of 2, 5, 5, and 7. It is especially hard for people playing it for the first time as we were. Most fairways are tree lined and many are also narrow. We were on #3 a Par 5 with 2 players to the right in the trees when the "Ranger" approached us. We were completely shocked when he barked at us that we were 4 minutes behind pace and needed to speed up. Not the typical "Hey guys, enjoy your round and try to keep pace with the group in front of you." The correct way to convey the point. Again #3 and only 4 minutes behind, because we looked and found a couple of balls and the "Ranger" was giving us attitude. Anyone who plays golf, especially a "Ranger", knows the Ebb and Flow of the game. In a hole or so we would be back on pace and still had the group in front of us in sight. This is when our round started to sour. Again, Shocked at the attitude, players became flustered and rushed which only made it worse. The scores on the next two, three holes or more for other players reflected the unnecessary pressure and attitude the "Ranger" placed upon our group. Remember Hole #3!! 4 minutes behind!! We made the turn in 2 hr 15 minutes. All was good until #14, when again we were looking for a couple of balls and fell back a couple minutes. As we approached #15 tee the "Ranger" aggressively told us that we were way behind the group in front of us and that "If we did not speed up we were going to have to SKIP #17" a Par 3. To that point we always had the group in front of us in sight. Absolutely Shocked again!! Threatening us with having to skip a hole was infuriating! All of the enjoyment we were able to salvage from the round was now gone. We voiced our frustration, told him "Not a chance" we would skip #17 and that his attitude was counterproductive by rushing us which creates more pressure in turn having to spend more time looking for balls. "Rangers" Attitude on #3 was Unprofessional, but the aggressive attitude on #14 was Extremely Unprofessional and unacceptable. By #17 we caught the group in front of us and ultimately completed the round in 4 hr 35 minutes. Anyone, who has played this course for the first time knows that pace of play is completely acceptable and that the attitude and pressure from the "Ranger" was uncalled for. We knew several of the groups behind us and as they finished they echoed the exact experiences with the "Ranger" barking at them on #2. Telling them that our group, first off, was the problem and we talked back. We also heard that the "Ranger" made derogatory comments about a player in the third group. Completely Unprofessional!!! Our representative spoke with the GM, who worked with him in setting up this group, and he surprisingly defended his "Ranger". This was as big of a shock as the uncalled for attitude of the "Ranger". In conclusion, when playing this course be prepared to not look at the beautiful setting. Do not spend more than 30 seconds looking for a ball. Do not expect to have fun unless you can hit the ball straight as an arrow every single shot. Do not fall more than 5 minutes behind or you will be verbally assulted by the "Ranger". If this does happen DO NOT hold back what you think of the "Ranger". We just wanted to enjoy a beautiful course on a Saturday. The layout of this course is very cool, however the conditions were terrible. The tee boxes were all sand very little grass!! The greens were basically Unputtable. They had not been punched recently but for some reason they had sand all over them. It looked to me they added sand to cover all the areas where their was no grass on the greens.
