We recently stayed at the Old Creek Lodge for our first stay in Gatlinburg. We were hoping to spend most of our time visiting the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and the Old Creek Lodge is a great location to do just that. We got a king suite. The room was on the river side of the second floor. Our room had a balcony with a great view of the river below. It was well appointed with a fireplace for cooler months, a jetted tub, sofa, chair with ottoman, large TV, and king bed. The bed was a little uncomfortable for me though that could be simply a preference thing (my husband seemed aok with it). We definitely enjoyed the jetted tub after days spent hiking at the park! The room was a good value and though it had a well worn feel, it was comfortable for our stay. Bonus: there's a bear that frequents the river and we saw her more than once on our strolls to dinner. What a pleasant stay we had here! The location is fantastic. Off the main strip, but within close walking distance. We didn't drive anywhere! The rooms are clean and newly updated. Housekeeping and staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was decent-only negative here is that I'd like to see more hot options. My parents booked this hotel several weeks in advance to our trip. They looked at the pictures provided before booking and they were pleased by the pictures as well as the reviews. When we arrived, my parents were severely disappointed. First of all, the rooms looked completely different from what they have seen. Secondly, breakfast is always the same and bland. Thirdly, the dining room can't fit more than eleven people! Not to mention housekeeping arriving late during the day rather than the morning or early afternoon. Sure, they cleaned our room, but they barely restocked the shampoo, conditioner, etc until we left a note asking for more when we clearly needed more. First time staying here and pleasantly surprised. Very friendly staff when we arrived and the parking was convenient. Even had some covered parking spaces. Huge room and clean. The bathroom was a little tight with the door and toilet but not a big deal. We did not partake in the breakfast but what we saw it. Not many options. Was within decent walking distance of the main strip and all the restaurants and stuff to do. We even walked to aquarium and it was an easy 1 mile. The only complaint we had was it was semi loud. Could hear doors slamming but thats likely just because the doors need to be resealed. We would likely stay here again. read more

This place is a a true hidden gem. It's one of the OakTenn properties. They're every bit as good as a nationwide chain. This place probably won't show up in the major booking sites, or if it does it may not show any availability. You want to book direct here or use the online booking site their website redirects you to. This property is clean and comfortable with friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are spacious with fantastic rustic decor. I think all of the rooms have balconies overlooking the creek and gas fireplaces. The 'executive' ones also have a hot tub. Breakfast is continental style. Cereal, microwave oatmeal, fruit, boiled eggs, microwave sandwiches. It's a good bargain for what you get. Convenient location for hitting Smoky Mountains National Park. Walking distance to all the tourist trap stuff in Gatlinburg. Don't forget to get your parking tag and hang it in your vehicle when you park in the lot! They may give you a parking tag even if your room isn't ready yet, which is nice. read more

Loved our stay here. We booked last minute and were able to get in our room a few hours early, thanks to the friendly staff. The room was very clean and cozy, just what we were looking for It's off the beaten path just enough to not hear the traffic and noise from Gatlinburg but close enough to walk to dinner and shopping. We ended our evening sitting on the private balcony enjoying the view and sounds of the creek below. Would definitely recommend to any of our friends. 5 stars all the way! read more

Amazing!! The location is excellent, service outstanding, and beds the most comfortable we've experienced in a long time. The hotel is close enough to access the main road but easily accessed from the less busy back road. Easy walk to Howard's restaurant and to Bennett's BBQ/pizza. The service here is top class! Did not encounter a single person who wasn't friendly and helpful. They provide flavored water and cookies for a snack mid-day and coffee 24 hrs. This is resort quality, not just a hotel. Now for the room. The rooms are very spacious, and include a fireplace and balcony overlooking the creek. It's so peaceful here! Plenty of room for 4 of us to relax and spread out. Breakfast area is a little small, but was only crowded one day. Not even enough to complain about, but that's the only improvement I could think of. I can't wait to visit here again!! Okay, so when we pulled into the parking lot, we were a little bit hesitant. Not to judge a book by its cover, but usually when you can walk directly into your room from the parking lot, the conditions are not great. HOWEVER.... this place squashed those stereotypes. It was absolutely BEAUTIFUL and our room was huge!! The floors were exquisite, the bed was so comfy, the view was great, and we were not disappointed with absolutely anything! The staff was so friendly and the location of the hotel was PERFECT!! It was within walking distance of the entire strip, but also far enough away from the hustle and bustle that it was quiet. We plan to come back to Gatlinburg for my birthday and we can't wait to return to this hotel!! read more

We came here back 4 years ago and decided to try it again. We had a good experience before. it was my birthday weekend so wanted a whirlpool room with a fireplace. we got 407 which seemed nice at first. It was a bit dirty and the noise from the road was loud. But it had a great view but then the whirlpool freaked out. It would not turn off and was leaking. We told the front desk person I think Amanda who was very friendly and helpful and saved the day, she did a great job. At 10pm she moved us to room 409. A cleaner. quieter room with a working whirlpool tub all I wanted was a hottub for my bday. And due to her efforts we had one!! They were great about late checkout which we ended up.leaving early. Lovely place, clean near everything great parking outdoor pool could not use to cold. Plan to return and I am.glad they helped me have a great mini birthday escape. . read more

I made a quick trip to Gatlinburg and Old Creek Lodge looked so comfy! It did not disappoint! I got there early and sat in a rocking chair reading and enjoying the creek, and the nice reception lady came out and told me that I could check in early! This was amazing!! This is a great place to stay in Gatlinburg, just a block off Main Street within easy walking distance of any part of town. The room have always been very clean, beds and pillows are very comfortable too. Every employee we've every had any contact with have always gone out of their way to make us feel welcome. My wife and I have stayed there seven times in the past four years and have even taken other friends and family with us, highly recommend. read more

Five starts because of the service! From the booking with Manger K'Dee M. To the evenings with Sebastian, they make people want to come back even if the town is too crowded and over run with tourists. Sadly the town has lost its charm but not this hotel. It's perfectly settled off the beaten path but so close to everything walking distance. Breakfast was great and had something for everyone daily. Always has coffee, tea and cookies for customers. Each room has a spa tub, and fireplace how perfect! Plus we had a riverside balcony which was great for morning coffee. They rooms were made up daily and clean. It felt like home with their kindness Thank you so much for your hospitality! Also, Sebastian gave us rainy day ideas and coupons to enjoy the town. For a two-star hotel (with a three or four star price tag), it was definitely ok. The location was amazing with easy access to the main strip but away one block and quiet enough. Everything was nice. You get the high end of everything you would expect in a two-star hotel. Yep. Some quirky and loud noises (sounded like pipes blowing up) in the middle of the night that no one at the desk could explain, but talked to a couple of other guests and they heard them, too, so they must know they exist. Wonderful place. Location was quite and not as busy. Check in was a breeze! Front desk staff were kind and courteous. Easy to find room. Room was spacious and clean. Fireplace was an added bonus. Balcony was clean and free of clutter with a perfect view of the stream. Plenty of towels and was cloths. Beds were clean and comfortable. Multiple outlets to charge devices. Keurig was a bonus but did not really care for the location as it was on the bathroom sink, but other than that, our stay was perfect and I 10/10 recommend! read more

This was our first trip to gatlinburg and our first experience with any hotel that wasn't motel 6! Clean friendly and beautiful! Our balcony was completely private and had an amazing view! The breakfast lacked a lot but what it lacked there was made up for in the room, the view, and the beautiful fireplace and awesome soaker tub! Location was great too. Tried staying at the Econo Lodge behind it and found a dead roach so left there and came to Old Creek Lodge instead, spending quite a bit more but worth it. Great place to stay by the river! We really enjoyed our stay at this great and reasonably priced lodge. The location was perfect. Within walking distance to everything but away from the hustle and bustle.The atmosphere was very nice, clean ,with a new rustic look. The staff was friendly and helpful. They even gave us a coloring book for our boy. The room itself had a nice gas fireplace which really made the room cozy and the balcony had a beautiful river view. Cookies were served in the evening and we enjoyed our complimentary breakfast at a pretty siting area beside the river. It felt like you got a lot for your money. Cheapest place on the river in downtown Gatlinburg. Convenient to everything downtown. All of the rooms have a gas fireplace and a balcony that overlooks the river. Request a lower floor for a better view. Its on river road which acts as a bypass in town. During the day its a little noisy. They have HBO, a free breakfast and free WiFi. We stayed there for a few nights after camping at Elkmont camp ground. Hotel was clean and had a cute lodge like theme with a balcony overlooking a creek. The room was bigger than average for a hotel room with two queen beds. It had a larger than normal refrigerator which is perfect for families with children. The toilet/shower has a door separating it from the sink area so one person can use the sink while someone is in the shower. There is a hot breakfast in the morning (waffle maker, eggs, bacon, yogurt, cereals, etc). The hostess in the lobby helping with breakfast was super sweet and kind. Location is perfect for walking down to the Gatlinburg strip, yet set off enough to enter into the Smokey Mountains Park entrance without traveling through all the traffic on the strip. We really enjoyed our visit and will likely stay again. read more

What a wonderful place to stay. we had a beautiful view of the stream below. The room was large, with wooden floors and a fire place (gas). The shower was newly done with a bench seat. For our first trip to Gatlinburg we were looking for a Smokey Mountain feel in our hotel and Old Creek Lodge was perfect! Lobby was log cabin like, and check in staff was very helpful and friendly. Our room had a cozy fireplace, a balcony that over looked the creek and was very clean and comfortable. We had a nice little welcome gift waiting in our room and the bathroom was stocked with many toiletries. It's a 2 minute walk to the main strip, close to everything. Great value but only if you are looking for a place near downtown Gatlinburg. As Motels go, this is a great place. Not a Lodge, however. We were looking for a rustic lodge to stay near the park- not it. Downtown Gatlinburg was a disappointment- very commercial and artificial. But Old Creek was pleasant. read more

While this hotel has some quirks because it is an older hotel, they are easily overlooked for the convenience/walkability to downtown and the trail at the edge of the GSMNP. The standout feature of this hotel is the amazing customer service. I had a stay in January, and have reservations for another trip in the near future. Literally, every person with whom I have interacted has been very pleasant and accommodating. Good service, beautiful stream views from your balcony and convenience far outweigh the minor quirks of this place. read more

We stayed here from June 16-19 2014. Check in was a breeze. Decor was rustic and fitting for the area, but you could tell the facility had a little age on it. Our room was spacious enough, and the jacuzzi tub was most welcome (and needed, as I'll explain later). Fireplace but being that we stayed in the middle of June we had little use for it. We had a 4th floor room, which offered a decent view of the nearby creek and a nice view of the Ober Gatlinburg tram. The staff were a definite bright spot of our stay. Can't make any complaints about them at all. They were all extremely friendly and accommodating. The continental breakfast was more than I expected. There were two wasp nests on our balcony that I informed the check-in person of the morning of our second day. The maintenance person took care of one of them but neglected to get the other one above the door (to be fair, it was vacant until the other nest had been disposed of). I utilized a flip-flop and took care of it. I tried to get some ice out of the 4th floor machine on our last day but it was not functioning. No big deal, the third floor one worked fine. The soda vending machine on the 4th floor would not accept dollar bills, but the ground floor machine worked fine, so again no big deal. You absolutely cannot beat the location. We parked when we arrived and did not get back in our vehicle until we left. It's right off the main strip, so we were able to walk to any place we wanted to go in Gatlinburg with a stroller (2 year old). Since it's off the main strip you miss most of the traffic, so it's pretty easy to get to the main strip. The one thing that I felt was absolutely horrible were the mattresses. Both my wife and I woke up with severe back pain every morning. They were terrible. They are incredibly stiff and were not comfortable at all. It took a good 10-20 minutes in the shower/tub to recover from it. If not for the mattresses, this place would have a repeat customer in us. It is unfortunate because everything else was acceptable. I can definitely see how the mattresses would be personal preference, so if you're comfortable with a very firm mattress this could be the place for you. Everything else was fine. You absolutely can't beat the location, for sure. Unfortunately we will have to look for a better night's sleep next time we're up there. read more

Definitively in need of updating - I get the whole lodge theme, but the carpet was very stained, comforter was lumpy, bathroom very dated, there was a large bathtub in the sleeping area?? The bath towels were more like dish towels. The lady that checked us in was mildly pleasant. The creek running along the backside of property was lovely. The poison ivy growing in the trees off the balcony was a bit too close for comfort. It was quite warm in the breakfast room - didn't stay, didn't eat. The covered parking was a nice plus. read more

We just got home from our first stay at Old Creek Lodge and we couldn't have been happier. We stayed in a king spa room and it was absolutely wonderful. The room was clean, comfortable, and relaxing. Every room has a gas fireplace and private balcony overlooking the river. Ours also had a king bed, sofa, second television, and Jacuzzi. The extra amenities were worth paying for. The staff at Old Creek Lodge were very friendly. It was our first visit to Gatlinburg so they recommended several restaurants and attractions. They also provided us with a ticket for free admission to the aquarium. From the lodge were were able to walk to the aquarium and many shops and restaurants. We drove to the craft village and park but they were just a few minutes away by car. After initially considering renting a cabin further from town I'm so glad that we chose Old Creek Lodge. This is definitely where we will stay in the future. read more

We stayed at Old Creek Lodge for a few nights in March. We got a very nice room with a great view of the city. We ate breakfast in the lobby every morning, though it is all cold food, it was very good. The bathroom was a bit small, but was very clean. The only negative thing i have to say is that there was a black hair in the hot tub in the room when we got here. Over all, we enjoyed staying here very much. read more

This is the 12th year we've come to the are with a large youth group. The staff is always accommodating and friendly. In fact, they extend breakfast hours early since had to leave at the time of the normal opening breakfast time. The rooms and cleaning staff are also superb. The hotel is off the main 'drag' but only by one block, so it is quite convenient. In fact we'd prefer this as it is more quiet. The river is behind the hotel and is nice. We'll be back. read more

I will say the rooms look nice. The bed were hard as a rock. Constantly throughout the night their were huge loud noises from the pipes. I could clearly tell you my neighbors conversation when she was speaking regularly and I can hear her husband as he peed and flush the toilet. The bestfast sucked.. Should have called it cold bar. No eggs no bacon., only hot items were gravy and waffles. I hate my husband talked me into this hotel. read more

We stayed here a little over a month ago. Rooms were clean, nice fireplace and balcony. Close to alot of activities. The cons first off seeing the staff constantly right by the stairwell smoking isn't so professional. Some of the staff it seemed like everytime you went outside they were out there smoking. There was also this loud booming every night multiple times a night. It woke me and my husband up constantly. The hot tub from the above floor also leaked down our wall and ceiling. Not the worst place I have stayed but not sure we would return. read more

Hope you sleep like a rock or have noise cancelling headphones with you, this place has the thinnest walls and is the noisiest place I've ever stayed. Building kept cracking and popping like it was settling and heard this multiple times the two days we were there. Updates are not great and for the price you pay you can find much better in Gatlinburg. Better be up at 7am for complimentary breakfast cause it was gone right down to the milk for cereal when we went down at 9am. Cancelled the rest of our stay and found somewhere we could actually sleep! read more
