I moved my 15 year old cats to the care of Dr. Liz Eastin at Old Hammond Veterinary Hospital last year. Dr. Liz is the most compassionate, caring vet I have ever had for my animals. She is hands on from the exam to the lab results. While she has vet techs to assist, she is the one handling my cats. So often she has to employ manual "old school" methods to ensure proper and thorough diagnostics are obtained while still at her office. Her dedication to ensuring the owner understands the tests, results, diagnosis and prognosis is commendable and noteworthy. The stafff at Old Hammond Veterinary exemplify the same level of care and attention. I am so sorry it took me this long to experience Old Hammond Veterinary Hospital, but for any future pets, this will be home. read more

This is not an easy review to write. I have been a client of the hospital for about 5 years. They were always professional, until a truly dire situation presented itself and I was not treated fairly. Do try to remember I had paid them a considerable amount of money over the years, I ask you to because I don't think they paid any attention to that fact. On the night of 7-10-2020 I had to rush my dog to the 24 hour emergency hospital. He had been in pain walking and was having difficulty with his hind quarters. The 24 hour emergency vet did a lot of tests, MRIs, x-rays, blood work, some tissue samples, etc. After all their tests were complete they said everything was within normal range, except for a high calcium level and a growth on my dogs hind leg. They gave me a slide to take to my regular vet to send off to the dog pathologist, checking for cancer. Considering the growth found and the calcium levels, they were pretty sure it was cancer. However the pathology results were needed to verify that and to see if there was a program of treatment. The following morning I took the slide over to Old Hammond veterinary clinic so they could send it in for me. Remember I had been taking my dog there on and off for 5 years. Due to Covid I had to meet them at the door with the slide, and call in first. I did call, told them who I was and the reason for my visit. They said hold on and they will be right out. A young lady came out about 5 minutes later and said they could not send it in, as I had not been there in 5 years! WRONG! They wouldn't help me in my dogs most dire need. When the girl started explaining I hadn't been there since 2016 and they wouldn't help I became absolutely enraged. I love my dog dearly and was being told some bogus information and no help was to be provided. Here I lost my temper a bit and told the girl there was no F...ing way I hadn't been there and they were F...ing wrong. She kept talking as I walked away trying to convince me I was wrong. I left totally frustrated by their lack of concern or organization. By the time I got to the first traffic light Old Hammond veterinary was calling me, saying they had made a mistake and pulled the wrong file, that I had been there since 2016. The girl on the phone, I believe the same one I had been talking to the first time, then went on to tell me they still wouldn't help me without all the paperwork from the emergency vet I had seen the night before, all the charts, results, etc. I did not have these, a patient never gets all these. All a vet usually gives a patient is a bill, medicine, and care instructions. When I said I didn't have these results they said they couldn't help me without them and I had to get them! Really? After how much spent there over the years? If I had just moved to town they would have simply called the previous vet, obtained the records electronically, maybe physically, and welcomed me as a patient. They could have called right then and obtained the previous nights results and helped me and my dog, who for all they knew was in bad shape. I did not turn around and go back to Old Hammond veterinary. Why should I? They made a mistake with pulling the charts, with telling me they wouldn't help me without results they could easily obtain, and if I had went back there would have been many choice words exchanged. In trying to be the larger person I took the slide from the emergency veterinarian hospital I had to a different veterinarian, who met me at my car, took the slides, promised to take them to the pathologist and call me with the results asap. While Old Hammond veterinary had helped me in the past, always with good results, they absolutely refused to help in my dogs most dire hour. This was absolutely inexcusable customer care and I will never go back. I've already given their last opportunity. read more

I've worked for a local vet, one of the biggest vet hospitals in BR and nowhere compares to Dr. Eastin! I never got the service, professionalism and care anywhere else! Your pets are part of your family and I expect mine to be treated as so even at the vet! Dr. Eastin took the time to explain everything she needed to do, was doing and post surgical care! My baby was misdiagnosed by 3 vets working at same facility. Heard an Dr Eastin and fell in love. My dog was much more comfortable with a smaller facility and her all around energy while working with him!! Wouldn't recommend anywhere else!!! read more

Dr. Liz Eastin is one of the reasons I decided to become a vet. Having worked for several clinics around Baton Rouge, I can honestly say that she shows compassion that most are lacking. We just returned from Thanksgiving in Baton Rouge, where we boarded our dog for 8 days. The Old Hammond staff were professional, on time and completed every request we made (administering a shot, after hours drop off, early Sunday pick up). Most importantly, they were great to our dog and I would recommend them to anyone in need of outstanding pet care and monitoring for extended stays. We have used this vet before no problem. We brought our dog home after getting her nails cut and we live within a mile from the vet. The back seat was COVERED in blood. This wasn't just one or two nails that were cut short to cause this to happen either but most of them. We had to clean up the blood trace from her walking around all day because they cut her nails so short. When we went back to show them the bloody covered backseat they refunded the amount of $10 for the nail clipping. I would do yourself a favor and stay clear. I have NEVER in my life written a review on any restaurant, service or anything else of the kind but felt compelled to do so after such blatant lack of care for service. read more
