They have a restroom area available with plenty of parking. The gazebos are off limits now but there is plenty of areas to see. we plan on coming back to explore the next higher mountain level. If the first one is full, they will mark it and direct you to the parking spots near the campsites. The park itself has a number of well-marked trails with varying lengths. The black trail was great for our family and our toddler walked most of the way. It also leads to a few overlooks looking out into the Maryland countryside. Parking does cost, but it's on an honor system and cheap. $3 for Maryland residents and $5 for non-Maryland residents.

They also have seats spaced at comfortable intervals to allow you to catch your breath before moving on. I also appreciate that they are so pet friendly, with posts for recycling bags (always a bag there to help make sure you can always pick up after Fido!) as well as a great fenced in dog run (two separate areas for small or large dogs) to give the the pooch a chance to play fetch and play with his friends. There is also a pavilion with picnic tables as well as tennis courts and a skate park. For the most part, I always feel safe there as there always seems to be a number of families there. Watkins has recently updated their rest rooms and they are beautiful! They also included a bubbler which is great when you are walking the loop on those hot summer days.

The parking lot was packed! It was hard for us to find a spot to park and had to wait for somebody to leave. I don't know if there's another parking lot on another side or not. There are plenty of bathrooms. As we drove in there was a library and I believe some sort of rec center. There's a lot to do here!

There are some very minor bridges here or there and a lot of people come here to run. Please remember to wear your mask as you are passing people constantly. There are several points of entry. I entered from the Damascus side where there are a bunch of townhomes and there is not a lot of parking, but a decent amount. I can see it being really difficult on a Saturday for parking though. Also, when you are exiting, it can get dangerous. Cars are coming from both sides and it is difficult to see if there are any incoming cars when the cars next to you are blocking your view. Just exit VERY slowly to be safe. There are some streams and water/ponds on the trail. Nothing spectacular, but there so its not just dirt and trees. You may run into some deer here or there because its Maryland. I just like the fact that this is an option for a good 20-30 minute walk and another 20-30 minute walk back.

We parked there and walked across the train tracks to get on the path. There's a boat launch there too. Nice walk for a nice sunny day. Also recommend checking out the Point of Rocks Bridge itself. It's perfect for walks or biking and there's side paths that lead you closer to the water. Parking is before the Marc train tracks. Or you can cross the tracks over the one lane bridge and park where the canal entrance is. There's a dock there to unload your boat/kayak into the water. Someday I hope to do that. I need to bring my bike here and check this trail out but for now, I've got my feet to do my walks/hikes here!
