I was not reached out to let me know that they were closed for the day and to reschedule. This new ownership is no longer reliable.

We came from a very good dentist at our old home in Texas. One that not only allowed parents in the…read moreroom actually encouraged parents to come back and had comfortable seating for them. Tucson Smiles does allow parents in the back but they act like it is a huge inconvenience and stuck me in a very uncomfortable chair in a tight space behind an xray arm. They gave me a sheet that stated I wasn't to talk to anyone during the visit or be on my phone.. Both dentist were very nice to my kids. They truly seemed to care about their patients and did not want them to be afraid but on several occasions kids could be heard crying from the waiting room. I'd been with our previous dentist for a decade and only hear crying once and it was from a kid that was upset about getting in the chair. That isn't very reassuring when you tell me you prefer if my child goes back for their procedures alone. I had been told before we left our previous dentist that my child had a dark spot on a baby tooth but didn't recommend fixing because it wasn't yet a cavity and was due to fall out in the next year. Tucson smiles recommended filling the area anyway just in case. When I explained I'd rather just wait for areas that were not yet through the top layer for teeth that were already wiggly she got annoyed and wouldn't make eye contact. They do have TV's in the room but they keep the volume on mute which means the kids still have the drill sound. Seems like that would be an advantage to having the sound on. Maybe provide headphones?

I also wanted to give them a…read more2/5 because 1) even though all of the assistants were kind, their job as the suction and water application is very important and can actually make or break an experience and I didn't enjoy being gagged, poked unnecessarily, and having to swallow the dirty dental water with chemical/tooth fragments in it and 2) my care plan changed mid second appointment under nitrus so they had to oxygenate me for my signature and then give me nitrus again to complete the work and the additional tooth. 3) I was never actually shown my xrays while they discussed the care plan and I think some attention to detail might have avoided the reason I am ultimately unhappy. My first visit I was told we would be working on 4 teeth and watching one, and we would be separating those into two visits. They did the bottom teeth on the first visit, where I expressed concern about my top retainer not fitting me when they do the work at the next visit. They told me not to worry and that it would be fine, just to bring the retainer so we could make sure it fit correctly. They also said they can do retainers and said they could straighten my bottom teeth for me (I have a permanent retainer there but they are only slightly crooked and I wasn't asking about that). I was in the chair probably 3.5 hours for both visits. When I showed up for the second visit - I reminded him about my retainer and that I brought it in, he said okay, no worries we will try that at the end to make sure it fits correctly and that they could make it fit if it didn't. They got me started on nitrus and were tinkering in there for a while and then he said alright so we actually need to do this other tooth that we were only watching but you can come back for that and now we're gonna be watching this other (random) tooth too. Unfortunately, this made me a bit skeptical because I don't understand with the x-rays and the full inspection that took HOURS the first time, why we wouldn't be aware of this. This conversation all took place while I was already on nitrus and they'd been working in my mouth a while. They said we have to bring you off the nitrus to get your signature to do the other tooth if that's what you want to do. I said fine, I wasn't really wanting to come back so soon, do it. I wasn't wanting to do a third appointment after they said I'd be doing two and not have to come back a while. The cost of that would obviously go up to pay for a repeat of the nitrus and whatever else. They had me sign the paper and put me back on nitrus. Then when it was finished he asked how my teeth felt, I said good I think (they had to give me more of the numbing agent because I was feeling again and so I couldn't feel much of anything until the very next day around noon, almost a whole day later) but that I just wanted to make sure my retainer fit because it cost me a lot to get them this way. He said ok grab it and we'll try it on but followed up with there's no guarantee it's going to fit. WHAAT... no. That was literally the opposite of what had been said. I was told to bring it, so that we could ensure it fit. So yeah, I wanted to love this office and ive been telling everyone to go and that they're awesome but upon writing the review I think the niceness and cleanliness gave them more credit than maybe they deserved. That said, I'd have been more upset if they'd made me come back later but I also think they are inconsistent with what my needs are and left me feeling like it was a used car salesmen type business. Everything with my teeth feels healthy and good. But my retainer doesn't fit how it should and I didn't like the change of tone from it will fit to it might not and that's just the way it is, but we can make you another one and fix your teeth again.. $$ and also adding more teeth in to work on that weren't mentioned at the original care plan. Including a new tooth to "watch" when the one they said they were watching was one they wanted to fix after all. This was not a terrible experience, just could have been better. For improvement, I recommend more training for the assistants, and more consistency in the care plan for the doctor I saw. This office was beautifully maintained, clean and comfortable.

That being said, I just had my initial appointment with Dr Abraham and I couldn't have felt more at ease. He offered several different ways to get my teeth taken care of while managing my wild anxiety. He was very patient, gentle and kind. The insurance person there was amazing, made you feel like you've known her your whole life and all the office staff were very kind and welcoming. I'm surprised to say that I'm looking forward to working with them all and I'm so grateful I found Dr Abraham and this practice.

We are new patients to this practice, although we are certainly not new to the orthodontic process…read more We previously received orthodontic care from another provider in Tucson, so we have something to compare this experience to. My biggest disappointment with this practice has been the lack of communication and customer service. There is absolutely no communication regarding upcoming appointments--no confirmation texts, phone calls, or emails. On one occasion, we arrived at the appointment time we believed we had scheduled, only to be told that our actual appointment was scheduled for a later time. A simple courtesy reminder or confirmation would have prevented this confusion and inconvenience. The orthodontic services themselves have been average--nothing particularly exceptional or above and beyond what we have experienced elsewhere. I understand that this practice may have a large patient volume, but it often feels as though everything is left entirely up to the patient or parent to keep track of. This is especially disappointing considering that many of the patients are minors who are in school, meaning parents or guardians are ultimately responsible for making sure they get to their appointments on time. In my opinion, basic courtesy communication--such as a reminder text, call, or email--should be the minimum standard of customer service, particularly in a practice where appointments are so important. Overall, we have been disappointed with the level of communication and service. Orthodontic treatment is a significant commitment, and patients and parents should feel that the practice values their time and makes an effort to communicate with them. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience so far.

His three daughters were scheduled for dentist appointments which were cancelled by the Mom the day prior (as soon as she found out about the deployment) so that the family could see him off that day. The dentist office charged $300 in cancellation fees to the family. The dentist office was called and explained the situation and why it occurred and they stated their 48 hour cancellation policy stands and the fees will not be waived. Wanted to let this be known since there is a large military community here, this experience can easily happen to any of us at this practice.

The dentist is very condescending and rude…read more When I set up the first appointment, I asked if we could schedule the time to treat her preexisting small cavity with SDF after the initial consultation. They stated that the first appointment was for 1 hour so there should be plenty of time and it was the last appointment before the lunch break. It was $125 for the dentist to look at her tooth which I already knew was a small cavity as we were just switching from a previous dentist because I thought it would be better to use a "pediatric dentist". They seemed pissed that I did not want x rays (which she clearly didn't need). After looking at her tooth, I asked if they had time to do the SDF treatment (which takes 10-15 minutes max once her mouth is open). The dentist said "we don't have time in our schedule". I said "Okay, it's just a long drive for us." He rudely said "Well. Wish we were closer to your house but... we're not." Next day we went back for the SDF treatment, I asked for him to apply the fluoride varnish on a tooth that had the start of a cavity. He said, "I looked at her teeth yesterday, there is no cavity there." I said, "okay, do you mind taking a look?" He said "Do you think it changed in a day?" Her previous dentist had already mentioned there was the start of a cavity on that tooth and you can clearly see the dark spots from the plaque. He is just arrogant and rude. He did the SDF treatment, did not apply fluoride to the tooth I asked, and dropped the SDF on her face so now there is a 3 inch mark on her cheek that will take 2-3 weeks to come off. There also is no play area for toddlers while they wait, only screens everywhere... I do not know how this guy has such good reviews but he must have paid a lot of money for them because they can't be real.

I didn't know better at the time and my husband and I both got one on a back molar. Mine lasted two years before it cracked and my husband's 2.5 years and it cracked. Because they're under five years old, the insurance won't cover new ones. We are out thousands and thousands of dollars. When you talk to credible dentists, they say they would never put a crown of that nature on such a large molar. Porcelain only but at simply smiles they want to take as much money for themselves as possible and not give it to the lab. They also will fudge measurements to try to get deep cleanings done. Our insurance didn't agree with them and it became a whole thing with noncoverage and us owing more money than was estimated m. They started out nice to us, but once that insurance issue came, they became very mean and uncaring. Just do yourself a favor, if it sounds inexpensive and too good to be true affordable, it's because it is -- you're getting junk.

Dr. Mitchell made that simple -- he not only has excellent depth in general and aesthetic dentistry but is also just an incredibly nice person. I'm someone who experiences major anxiety in the chair, and I've found Dr. Mitchell's easygoing demeanor a huge relief. I also appreciate that the hygienist is extremely respectful and patient-focused. For instance, I'd had my last bitewings eleven months before, and before my arrival, she had noticed that and double-checked with my insurance to ensure I was eligible, but more important, she also asked me if I would prefer to have them a little early or wait until my next visit. It's completely refreshing to have the staff ask what the patient wants, instead of trying to push services or products. Another major advantage is the office itself -- located on Grant Road (north lane, next door to Black Rock Coffee, just across the street from the Mercedes Benz dealer and slightly west of the post office), the building has ample covered parking, and the interior capitalizes perfectly on stunning views of the Catalinas, with several exam chairs facing straight out to the gorgeous scenery...just another way to feel relaxed and happy in a place dedicated to making you flash your best smile!
