I will give this dentist zero stars if I could. Had a tooth extracted few months ago because Dr Carson was not interested in doing his job and he was just looking to get as much as possible from our dental insurance for useless work. I had to see our old dentist who was late to save a tooth( tooth had bone infection that was spreading) and after taking 2 weeks of antibiotics we ended up paying $150 for X-rays that's usually covered by insurance and additional $ for the extraction of the tooth since Dr Carson's office used all the money allowed for a full mouth and panoramic X-rays for the next 3yrs and any work in a 12 months period. Maybe Bitewings X-rays will be paid next year by our insurance but not sure at the moment. It's very said that these type of dentist exists. Don't go here if you want to keep your teeth. When I first went to Dr Carson, I had numerous dental problems including alignment of my teeth, which affected my bite. After a thorough evaluation, he offered me several different treatment plans to choose from and discussed them with me and answered all of my questions to help me make a choice among the plans. His office coordinates my care plan with other professionals and provides routine care such as hygiene as well. I am well into my treatment plan, the alignment of my teeth and jaw is greatly improved, Old problems have been and continue to be corrected and my general dental care is on a schedule to help maintain good dental health. His staff is excellent and pleasant to work with. I recommend him to anybody who asks me who I go to or tells me they're looking for a good dentist. read more

I moved to Tucson in 2019 and have tried several dental practices. I found what I was looking for with Dr. Carson! The office staff is friendly, efficient, and accomodating. They were able to get me in for a new patient appointment THE NEXT DAY! Dr. Carson met with me in an office room to discuss my experiences, concerns, and expectations before he even looked in my mouth. He explained how his practice works and made sure he understood my needs/wants. He and his team did a thorough inspection of my mouth - teeth, gums, roots, jaws, etc, - and told me what they were going to do so there wouldn't be any surprises. I went back later that day for my hygene appointment and did not have to repeat the info from the initial appointment. Communication!! The hygenist knew all about me from the other staff and still took time to get to know me. I was shown how my teeth look / should look, without shame or judgement. The equipment and technology are up to date, the employees work together to serve the clients AND like eachother, and Dr. Carson is in the loop the whole time. This is a well-run practice. Dr. Carson's office has state-of-the-art equipment and a comfortable, modern, artistic environment. The service is amazing from all of Dr. Carson's staff and his hygienist is a real master at her game. The only negative (and why I had to subtract a star), is that they are unapologetically more expensive then other dentists. I unfortunately had to find an alternate practice because my amazing PPO insurance policy didn't come close to covering my bills here. This is the best dentist office for many reasons! They are welcoming, professional, and always on time. If you have an issue and leave a message, they always call you back. They are gentle, caring and very knowledgeable. I am a patient there and have had a wonderful opportunity to be helped by Alexia, Sam, Theresa, Belinda and Dr Carson. All have been wonderful. Been going to Dr Carson for years now. He keeps up with the most advanced equipment out there and it is so appreciated!! Makes a big difference when getting dental work done. Love the fact if you need a new crown it can be done start to finish in a couple hours and ya don't have to go back!! The people at this practice are so much better than any other dentist I've been to that I'm not sure they should even be placed in the same category. Every single person I've interacted with is so friendly, outgoing, on the ball, and knowledgeable about their job. Everyone remembers (or consults) all the relevant info I've ever given them before. Everyone is an expert on their particular area (or in the case of the dentist himself, everything) and not only is it clear that they have a passion for their work, they take the time to educate you as a patient as well and to make sure that you have as much information as you'd like. I've never felt before like an entire staff was so on board with my own personal commitment to preventive health and understanding the biological mechanisms that either support or detract from health. My first time here, the dentist was checking my lymph nodes and nerves and doing an oral cancer screening and checking my bite alignment in addition to examining the teeth. He also took note of and discussed with me the pattern of wear that has occurred to my teeth over time. I've never had a dentist check or discuss any of that before and now I feel like I am in much better hands than I ever have been before. This is a dentist I actually look forward to going to. Dr. John Carson is a good dentist. I was his patient for more than five years and have been very happy with his services. He was always clear and concise with his treatments, happy to detail and explain every option and easy to work with when it came to planning dental work, reconstruction, fillings and cleanings. His dental hygienist is wonderful, gentle and efficient. I originally began with Dr. Carson's office five years ago. I quickly became a fan and soon after had my family all on board with dental cleanings and check ups. With that being said, it's important to know this: If your life becomes hectic, or have a family crisis, Do not forget an appointment! If you miss an appointment, be sure to call them to rectify the situation! Life can get difficult, people make mistakes and the unexpected can happen. Dr. Carson's office does not make allowances for too many of these instances. Seriously, after missing an appointment with Dr. Carson during a family crisis, I received a letter in the mail politely dismissing me as an active client. In fact, I would gladly have given Dr. Carson 5 stars here, except for the experience of receiving that letter in the mail. That being said, Dr. Carson is an excellent dentist. He's caring, compassionate and works with with integrity. He has taken great care of my children's dental needs with great ease & a wonderful sense of humor. My elder daughter is still his client and will not settle for anyone else for all her dental care and upkeep. I've been coming to this dentist office for over 3 years now and I really enjoy my dentist visits as odd as that may sound. I just moved here 3 years ago from Northern California and had the same dentist for 30 years. I started coming to Dr. Carson one year ago and unfortunately had to have a cavity re-filled this past Wednesday. I was extremely nervous, as I am very apprehensive when it comes to dentists. Dr. Carson was AMAZING! He explained everything he was doing in great detail, checked on me throughout the process making sure I wasn't in pain. The equipment he uses in simply the best, state of the art. Dr. Carson is a genuine person who really gives 100% every minute he is with you. His staff is the same way! Everyone in Dr. Carson's office is very professional and very kind. My husband and I have been going to Dr. Carson for about 2 years. We moved across town about a year ago- it now takes us about 45 minutes to get to the office, but we are happy with Dr. Carson, so we aren't changing dentists. Dr. Carson listens carefully to what you want done and helps you to make informed choices. I've had some teeth whitening done, a broken tooth smoothed, and several fillings- and all have gone well. I've had a little trouble getting properly numb with other dentists, but Dr. Carson made sure I was comfortable throughout the filling (it may have even been a root canal- can't remember now), without making me feel silly for being nervous that I would be difficult to numb. Also- all the techs and ladies at the front desk are really good at their jobs! I saw Dr. Carson and his staff for an oral appliance to reduce sleep apnea. Dr. Carson is personable and knowledgeable and I always felt comfortable and valued as a patient. When one appliance didn't work for me, Dr. Carson immediately supplied another, which did work. If you need compassion this is not the dentist for the job. After our experience with Dr. Carson I honestly believe they control their patient reviews where possible so you only see the good. BEWARE. My wife is still in home recovery after this man made a grossly inappropriate comparative comment about my wife's smile as if it were okay, funny or even professional and it caused my wife to suddenly immediately question whether she was worth helping at all. And we chose Dr. Carson based on his online reviews. We wound up going through a suicide scare/nightmare that should NEVER have happened to a beautiful (this is a gothic event model) vibrant woman with two kids thanks to the insensitivity of Dr. Carson. I'd like to say he apologized when I called to address it twice. He never did. He didn't even call to reassure my wife she was a valued patient. We found a new facility that has been incredibly compassionate. The plaque near the door reassuring you of Dr. Carson's empathy and to "let them know" if you've had an issue so they can resolve it swiftly because "every patient" is important, matters etc. is clearly not true. After speaking with two other oral surgical facilities I now know that the comment made by Dr. Carson was completely inappropriate and wholly unprofessional. He made NO effort to address it, and that's also a no. Thank heaven there are good compassionate physicians left in AZ. or I wouldn't have my wife. My kids are in therapy due to this and my wife's story as to what happened to her in the first place and her subsequent road to recovery is being published online soon and this will be the ugliest chapter in it so far as my family and I are concerned. read more
