We went to Saratoga National Park and followed a map leading to the Saratoga Monument, which is still considered part of the park, but is about 8 miles away (maybe a little less). The Saratoga Monument looms tall in Stillwater, NY. We learned that the battles fought near Stillwater led to the British surrender at Saratoga on October 17, 1777, which is known as the "Turning Point of America's Revolutionary War," which led the way to our country's independence and creating a nation grounded in liberty and freedom. Do I dare call into question current leaders who should be reminded of what our nation stands for? Nope, I'd better stay focused on my review, lol. While we didn't climb the 188 steps to the top of this monument, we viewed it from the outside. We had every intention of exploring the grounds, but instead, the clouds that you see in the photos decided to open up and burst forth with such force... I don't think I've ever seen such a rainstorm quite like it. It was scary !!

It's not fully high-tech yet, as a lot of the older records are still in large, ornate, books. But those records are very well organized, as we found out a few years ago when needing to obtain some family records. The staff are quite friendly and helpful. They offer services for seniors such as free photocopying. Be sure to drive by on December nights to check out the Christmas tree in the front of the building.

That is not at all the case. There are loud conversations by staff and visitors and no one cares to enforce the quiet rules. I even reserved a study room and there were still loud conversations I could hear through my headphones. There are also people that just come in to wait for the bus, loitering, and have this as their meeting place for many things. They sit at the tables and talk with no intention of using the library for its actual use. Even though it is a public place there needs to be better security of noise levels and using the library for its intended use. Maybe enforce group study rooms, silent rooms, private rooms, etc. Staff is very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I just wish it were a quieter, peaceful environment. Great place to come in, grab a book, and leave.

Easy online sign up, easy to find. Our guide Charlie was a wealth of knowledge. We didn't really walk much though; just made 2 stops in the park and a third inside Canfield Casino. What a lovely gem of a historical site right in South Glens Falls!…read more Every year they have a fundraiser that begins after Thanksgiving and runs through Christmas: nativity displays from around the world. This year was from "The Americas" and, quite frankly, very impressive. From what I understand, it will be different next year! They have enough displays to change the annual theme. If you're into Christmas and love nativity scenes, this is a perfect destination spot. If you're not Christian nor religious, it's still worth a visit. For $5, it helps support a lovely historical society. The artistry and diversity of the pieces/scenes from other countries is absolutely worth the price of admission. Local volunteers keep this place alive and they are super friendly/knowledgeable about all of the displays. Merry Christmas!

It's a good place to bring your kids and try the Spring water. The water flows here from Loughberry Lake, the City's water supply. You will find a lot of people using this Spring water and filling them up in bottles.
