This is regarding the comment by David G. You mean to tell me that a barber cannot even explain to a potential customer that they are "booked" without being accused of racism! Hahaha! Just because no one else was in the shop at the time you were doesn't mean she wasn't expecting appointments soon! Besides, if she does not have hardly any patrons with ethnic hair, she most likely does not know much about cutting it. AND IT IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT TO CUT! I am a barber of 47 yrs. myself, and really know very little about cutting ethnic hair. This is why most go to black barber shops, because those shops know the unique aspects of cutting it. None of us want to mess up anyone's hair. And in case she really didn't have appointments after you, she may have found it easier to just say she had appointments rather than embarrassing the guy by getting into his hair texture and all that in front of someone else. Also, it seems odd to me that you would "mind" your daughter, almost as if she were your mother! Lol. read more

My husband was looking for a new barber and stumbled upon this place. It's a mom and pop shop and they only accept cash. Walk in, sit down and wait. Wasn't busy. Sarah cut his hair and she did an awesome job. This is one of those "don't judge a book by its cover" situations. Can't beat $14 for a great men's haircut with a straight-razor edge. read more

Whites only. I was getting my hair cut (I am an old white guy) and a young, well dressed black man walked in the door and asked for a haircut. Barber: "Do you have an appointment?" No Ma'am. "Sorry, we are all booked, said Sara." This, in an empty barbershop, except for me and the barber. The man turned on his heel and left. Sara resumed my haircut without a beat. There was no ambiguity about that message. It was blatant racism. I confess I had a racist past from 1960's Miami upbringing, but have moved past it as much as a person can do. These things never completely leave. They are embedded in our emotional being and our rational brain can never quite overcome them. :-( Nonetheless, on my daughter's advice, I will never return to this business. Let them fester in the hateful world they have built for themselves. read more

Exactly what I was looking for. Recently moved up here & needed a no nonsense old time barber shop. This place delivers. Quick service, great price & most importantly a good haircut. Their hours stay on the door and on yelp that they open at 9 AM on Sunday I'm here now and it's 9:30 AM and still the doors are locked. Wouldn't pick up my phone calls, and unable to even leave a voicemail. I'd your hours changed for later... Change it online and your door as well. Drove 30minutes just to find out they are closed. Like the barber my Dad used to take me as a kid... No non-sense, friendly, they even do hot lather shaves! They typically have all of their chairs manned, so there's rarely a wait. They open early on Sunday too! They only accept cash, which is a bummer -- but there's an ATM across the street. read more

Went on a Sunday afternoon for a hot shave. The place was empty so I had no wait to hop in the chair. I thought the whole experience was great and very relaxing. There were a couple of reasons that I didn't give this place 4 stars though. Now I have never gotten a hot shave so I am not sure if this is normal or not, but I ended up getting nicked up quite a bit. I knew it wasn't good when the barber says "Oh you're a bleeder". When my shave was done I had several bloody nicks on my face. I even had one right under my nose that took several days to heal. Granted, I hadn't shaved in about 10 days so I was quite overdue, but still didn't think I would get nicked as much as I did. The other negative, as the previous person mentioned was that they only accept cash. If I hadn't read the review, I probably would have only gone with my debit card. I would give this place a second chance, if only for a haircut. read more

It is truly an Old Times Barber Shop. I went on a Sunday morning at 9am and waited just a couple of minutes for him to finish up with his current customer. When he called me to the chair I noticed a fair about of hair on the foot rest (Since he had just opened I assumed it was all from the previous gentleman). There was no attempt to clean anything off the footrest or the floor. As he put the cape around my neck I looked down and realized he didn't bother to switch capes or get any of the other customers hair off of the cape (it wasn't the usual slick material that encourages hair to slide to the floor). The straight edge trim was interesting. Don't think I have had one since I was maybe 12 years old. There were times when I was sure the dull blade was going to cut me. That whole thing was pretty gross. I guess I should have called a halt before he started. The man cutting my hair was very nice and the cut was ok. I'm a #1 all around so it's not complicated. Would I go back? Nope. I am not interested in going home from a hair cut with someone else's trimmings on me or my clothes. read more

Last of a dying breed this barbershop still clings to the old-fashioned ways of cutting a man's hair. Where else can you get warm lather on the back of your neck and have it cleaned up with a straight razor. The only modern touch is that they use an air gun instead of a typical brush to wipe away the clippings other than that it's good all fashion haircut with a good old-fashioned price. You could spend $30 at the fancy-schmancy male haircut places in town butI wouldn't exactly call them barber shops. Hope they stay around for a while. You can't beat a $12 haircut these days. read more
