What a terrible experience. Before deciding to spend over $20k with OWSI, we had already sourced comparable materials from other shops. We walked into OWSI with most of our decisions already made. We decided to work with OWSI once they promised by centralizing everything with them, quality would be higher, they would be more efficient, and more cost effective. Instead, we experienced delays (they assigned blame to third parties in opposition to their promise that by centralizing they could operate more quickly), low quality work (that was ultimately fixed thankfully), and significantly higher expense. All this could've possibly been swept under the rug. When the final bill came and it wasn't what I expected, I called our POC (who also happens to be the manager) for an explanation before paying. With full intent to pay once the charges were clear to me, I called over a dozen times for 6 weeks, along with texts and emails. Instead of speaking with me, they put a lien on my house. Only once I threatened to involve a lawyer did they finally send me an email addressing my concerns. I immediately paid the balance and 3 months after everything, the lien has finally been removed. Especially after the delays and issues we experienced, I would've thought they would at least keep an open line of communication. Instead, they avoided any confrontation. To be clear, every person at OWSI and the third parties I ultimately had to resolve timelines with was professional and kind, despite working through issues. The POC/OWSI Manager who I won't name was the core problem throughout this process - overselling in the beginning, passing blame in the middle, and avoiding the situation entirely in the end. read more

I took the owner of Old World Stone Imports to small claims court yesterday for countertops and WON! Please be aware that if you order your countertops through Old World Stone Imports, a company called Cutting Edge Stone and Granite in Murray will be fabricating and installing them. Steve Berry owns BOTH Old World Stone Imports and Cutting Edge Stone and Granite. I had a terrible experience with Steve Berry and Wanis Salem (part owner of Cutting Edge). In March 2019 Cutting Edge installed my master bath sinks and countertop so that the wall mount faucets would not reach to drain into the sinks. They would not take responsibility for it. Wanis's excuse was that my cabinets weren't standard depth. Yep, that's right, I have custom cabinetry. I had provided the cabinetry plans. Wanis templated himself, with the wall-mount faucet valves in place and obviously visible. Steve Berry backed Wanis, saying Wanis had not made a mistake with where he installed my NONFUCTIONAL sinks. There is a LOT more to this story. I was verbally abused, hung up on, yelled at by Wanis. I'll spare you the details here. You can look at my review for Cutting Edge Stone and Granite on Yelp. This is simply the WORST design company I have ever worked with. They will NOT honor their word or warranties. When we built our home they were the design company we had to work with. Connie was our salesperson. Her opinion was that EVERYTHING was here favorite and that no matter what we chose it was wonderful and would look spectacular....absolutely worthless in the opinion department. She was very nice and quite polite, but couldn't offer a valuable insight. After carefully selecting our granite based on the samples they gave us to choose from, we picked out a dark black ubatuba with gold veins. We were not allowed to choose the actual stone. When it went into the house. IT WAS THE WRONG COLOR. They put in Verde Peacock!! When called out on it, they outright refused to fix it. They claimed that is was in fact verde ubatuba. So I went and got independent samples and PROVED to them that is was verde peacock (home depot samples). I even took samples from their showroom that proved the color was wrong. Did they own it? N-O-P-E. They would not make it right. The owner and his lackey then came and told me that in a year's time it would darken up. Uh, Ok, do I have idiot written on my forehead? You're telling me that in a year it would be darker?! They said that if we didn't like it in a year, they'd tear it out for free, but we'd have to pay for a different rock. HIGHWAY ROBBERY. Year comes and goes, I don't have two things. 1, darker granite. 2, $2500 for them to change it to the right color. SO, I live with very GREEN granite. They also dont know how to hide seams in granite, the cut seams are rough and VERY poorly worked. They filled them with some moderately similar colored putty and that was it. It looks terrible. 15 minutes on youtube and I've learned that it isn't all that hard to hide seams with epoxy. OWSI has zero attention to detail but still charging a hefty price. They just want to do the bare minimum, collect their check and then move on to the next job. If you get stone from them, insist on picking the actual stone. Actually, just don't get it there. Go to HD or Lowe's or anywhere else. The problems continued. After selecting an 'upgraded' flooring package, they overcharged us for what we chose. I called them out on it. They owned this 'mistake' and dropped $300. Honest blunder? Who can say? Fast forward a half a year or so. The carpet begins to tear away from the tack strips at about month 8. We reported this to them in October of 2016. 4 months later they send someone to look at it. "This is cheap carpet, its not gonna last," is what the installer/inspector tells us. They offer to replace it since it cant be repaired. 2 months, many emails and calls and threats before they finally send out a very nice guy to install a new piece. Guess what its NOT THE SAME COLOR. Are these folks color blind? First Granite, now carpet? It is now June of 2017 and there is an awful seam running the breadth of the room with two different colors on each side. Multiple calls/emails etc, nothing has changed. I have nothing but ire and loathing for this company. They are simply lazy cheats in my opinion. I would be thrilled to see something change. If they'd make this right, I'd happily report that and rate them again accordingly. But a year and half after our first encounter, they are still not making good on their word. read more

Please do not buy from here! I have never written a bad review but feel like I need to warn people. They have caused us such heart break! We saved up to buy carpet our whole house and to make our basment a fun hangout for our kids. In a nutshell they told us to not upgrade our pad when I called to upgrade our pad and then found out that we did get the wrong pad and Skyler won't fix it and told us we should have researched pads. I honestly am shocked about how bad Skyler and his company has treated us. I as the customer I did everything right. I called and asked for the best pad for our new carpet but his employee gave us false information and said we already had the best pad. The head salesman Skyler will not take any responsibly for his mistake. His excuse is that it's a matter of opinion on which is the right pad. I was given a standard 8lb pad for a very thin carpet! I wanted to pay more to protect my carpet and was not allowed too. Carzy!! I paid for a quality 100% nylon for my family, I wanted a quality pad.Now I don't want my kids to eat or drink on the carpet. It is so sad!! They won't fix anything. I have had numerous professionals come over and tell me I got screwed and that their company would never do this to a customer and that they always tell people to get an 8lb with moisture barrier and memory foam. There is even an upgrade from that. No one gets a 8lb standard pad because its horrible and liquids will get trapped in the pad. We have always had a moisture barrier pad Such a sad awful experience. Whole story below One of the workers made a mistake in telling us not to upgrade. I asked to up grade our pad since we were buying a very thin carpet. We paid for a very nice 100% nylon so that it would be durable for our kids and pets. I called to upgrade my pad, unknowing what the differenced were in pad but wanting a really the BEST pad since my carpet was thin and light colored. I was told that I was already get a really good pad. I asked for the best!! and I was told this was the pad that they recommend. I asked numerous times are you sure I want it to be good for my family. She said don't worry. So I trusted her. They were set to come at !0am, but didn't come till 3pm and didn't leave till 10pm. We had to rush and bring the furniture from upstairs down so that they could finish the next day. We were up till 1pm. After they installed it I knew the pad was way to hard because I had felt this carpet in another home. I quickly called and was told by Skyler the owners son that I could have upgraded to a memory foam pad? What!?? Why didn't they offer that before? Anyway, I have gone and talked with them personally and have called them numerous times to try to see if we can work something out since they mad a big mistake. Skyler will not take any responsibility and when I asked to talk to the owner he would not let my husband and I talk with him. What!!! this company has no integrity. Please don't make the mistake of using them. They have caused so much anxiety for my family. I regret so much that I used them. I just wanted a decent pad and capet for my family. read more

These guys are a nightmare to work with they were 2 days late on installing my Granite so we didn't have any countertop for 3 days and when they measured for carpet they forgot to write down the measurements for one room. After they didn't have enough carpet to finish the job they took 2 weeks to get the carpet in and then the installer "Forgot or got a late start" (their words) so it had to be pushed back another day. I would not recommend them to anyone and Skylar the owners son is awful to work with. read more

Run for the hills... My wife and I decided to go with old world stone because of their prices compared to places like Home Depot and Lowe's, huge mistake. The customer service was fine at first unless something goes wrong and then it was the worst I have ever dealt with, the granite kitchen counter tops look nice but the installation was a mess not only did they mess up on the cut of the Granate but the salutations to solve it was to cut into my wall so the granite would fit. They didn't mount my dishwasher to the granite either and when ask if they would they told me it was part of plumbing and they don't do plumbing. We ordered a full bull nose and didn't get it and still had to pay half of the bull nose after two weeks of fighting with both OWS and the installers who I believe is a company called "cutting edge" Kellie was the most helpful but couldn't do much when it came down to it and Skyler was a joke to say the least, I can go on and on about how awful our experience was, I promise that if you use them, like me, you will wish you paid the extra cost for the peace of mind that comes from a Home Depot or Lowe's. And after all was said and done we didn't save any money. They didn't even deserve the 1 star I gave. read more

We had them tile ourdownstairs bathroom and gave that job five stars. Based on that experience, we hired them to lay 1" penny tiles in our upstairs bathroom. It ended up being a really bad, lengthy experience, and we were very disappointed and frustrated with the results. They also left a substantial and unexpected mess behind. The first time they put down the tile- honestly, it was laughable!! So many glaring and obvious mistakes it looked like someone that had never laid this kind of tile. We were very unhappy, and frankly shocked that they thought we would in any way be satisfied with the job. They had to come back at least four times to re-do, and then fix that job, and then fix some more, and finally we have a finished product that we are moderately happy with. They left splattered grout all over the walls, knocked a hole in the wall that was very poorly repaired, did not remove the baseboards until we insisted, charged extra to transition between the tile and carpet (in fact, they weren't going to do anything about the transition- it was only upon our insistence that it was done)- they didn't haul away their garbage and left a pile of cement on our lawn that left a dead spot. They were nice, but communication was difficult. They just in general gave an amateur impression. They seemed to be in over their heads. The owner came and agreed it needed to be fixed, and it was worked on and improved- but the only real, professional fix would be to rip it all out and start from square one. The owner was also friendly and insisted he wanted it fixed right, but after so many visits, and fixes, we came to the realization that it was never going to be as good as it should be. read more

We bought penny tile for our 5 by 5 bathroom and payed for someone to install it on a Saturday and found that old world stone had not given us enough for the deminsions we informed them of. The penny tile was actually 11 by 12 rather than 12 by 12. We went to purchase more and found they were closed so we had to go all the way to Slc to buy completely different penny tile and complete the project that day. We went to return the unused tile to old world stone and they said that since they don't usually have that type of tile on hand (they did when we bought it) that they would not refund our purchase even though they were the reason we had too little to use. read more

Worst experience ever!!! They were late, then They mismeasured and miscut my granite countertops then told me it was my fault for threatening to cancel because they were late!! They refused to make it right it cost me $2200.00 to have someone else come in and fix the problem. Also be sure to check on hidden fees they charge my bill was $400.00 more than my quote and it was wrong. I would never ever do business with them ever again!! Please please do yourself a favor and stay away from these dishonest people!! I have since asked around I have found at least 15 people with similar experiences. read more

This company is awful!! We did some remodeling in our bathrooms and at first they were so sweet and helpful. They took us to the back and we picked out our stone for our countertops and two beautiful sinks. They even wrote our name on them. A few weeks later our contractor went to pick them up and I was stunned to see that the counter stone was a different color and the sinks were obviously seconds, or something. They were NOT the ones that we had previously picked out! One of them had already been installed somewhere because it already had a bead of silicone caulking around it. I was told that we had to take them because it would be weeks before we could get any others. And i was actually ok with the lighter counter color. I was told by BOTH owners that they would fix the sinks, "We stand behind our products" we were told on more than one occasion. It has been two years and now they are LITERALLY FALLING APART. They don't return your calls after they have your money. They give great lip service, but there is NO follow through. Run as fast as you can if you see them coming. I wish I could have given them negative stars. read more
