While I do understand that the ownership has changed and inevitably will give the store a different…read morevibe, my main issue has been that in the times I have been into this store since the change in ownership and management, the staff has been unpleasant and on one occasion in particular, made my friend and I feel very uncomfortable as she had a loud and extremely personal phone call during the entire time we were in the store without even acknowledging that we were there at all. I do think the selection has always been great, and I appreciate the emphasis on supporting local work, although that also seems to have changed a bit since the change. It is a pricey location for most things, but I do always enjoy seeing what is in the store, the card selection is consistently excellent, and it is a great place to find a gift!

Plus they have self-care items, some wellness items, a small selection of men's and women's fashion accessories, and more. It's a small shop, but packed full of gems! Dog treats, melted glass bottles, light bulb ornaments, crocheted socks, amber jewelry, a clock that runs on water, a barber chair, pasta sauce, a heart made out of wine corks, fashion clothing designed just for you, Americana, hats for Saratoga track season, sparklers, polymer clay jewelry, and artwork made out of bent forks. What this translates into is that you KNOW you will find something when you walk in, because the interests are so wide. Regarding the start-ups, it's neat for them to have a place to launch their businesses while having some support or infrastructure at the same time. I wish there were more places like this.

Artcentric is fun to browse; it's chock-full of vintage furniture, decor and accessories that have been bought at estate sales, etc and lovingly restored by Debra, the store's enthusiastic owner. I never expect to find anything in these sorts of businesses, since vintage isn't my style. However, in a few months my boyfriend and I are moving into an apartment and we've been on the hunt for beautiful, practical furniture. As it happened, she'd recently purchased a solid mahogany dining table big enough for six, with additional leaves, and had priced it for a STEAL. We were very interested in the piece, and Debra was incredibly forthcoming about its condition and her passion for her work. She explained that she loves finding the next gem so prices her stock to move. She answered all our questions, then gave us time to ponder.
