As soon as you step inside, you're greeted by a guest book for sign-in. While browsing, I noticed they sell heart-shaped locks for $10 and quickly realized they have a dedicated "love lock" fence outside! It was such an exciting find. There is a shop within a block that does professional engraving, but the museum provides Sharpies at the desk, which worked out perfectly for us. It ended up being a total "core memory" moment for my husband and me. The exhibits themselves are fascinating--I especially loved looking at the antique equipment and the old-fashioned phone booth. It's a wonderful way to spend an afternoon if you're looking for a bit of local history and a charming, personal experience. Definitely worth a visit!

This wasn't a planned visit to the museum, we didn't even know it existed. But it turned out to be the highlight of our day. We learned so much about Texas history, and so lots of fascinating pieces from way back. For example, we saw some fans from the 1700s, and old telephone switchboard, so many artifacts. The old photos of people walking the same streets we were on was fascinating. We saw clothing and furniture and dishes from 1800s an early 1900s. We completely lost track of time in there. The museum runs solely on donations, so definitely stop by if you're in the area. Kudos to the people that keep this place going!!

A lot of history to learn about the Medal of Honor recipients and what they went through to deserve highest medal in the U.S. military. I even learned about a woman recipient which I never knew there was one. Nor did I know the MOH was only for enlisted before they started giving it to officers. Being a veteran myself, it makes me both proud and sad at the same time. Those who have deployed to war know what it is like and the memories are something many of us try to forget. I highly recommned visiting this museum. There is so much for you to learn.

You can see how everything was laid out visually for the moment in history to unfold. I think it's worth it to spend less than $30 bucks to come up and have that unique vantage point. It's an unfortunate event in American history, and it continues to live on as the tragedy that it was.

There are magazine articles and all of the items kept the same as it was when people were coming and going in this boarding home. You can only visit the living/dining area and the room off of it that was Oswalds. When I say room, it is an extended closet size with a small bed/desk/side table and closet. Sounds big, but very small. I would make this a stop when you are visiting Dallas.
