There are many Pros and Cons about this school as I'm sure there are with any school. Personally, we have had some ups and downs at this school that have left me feeling a bit off put by it. (But that was our personal exp) There is a mixture of teachers. Some are EXCELLENT! If you are lucky enough to get one of these thank your lucky stars. If not, hold on for a bumpy school year. The ones who really care about education and not just having a pay check are the ones that shine at this school. And sadly are not the ones usually recognized either. The office staff for the most part are wonderful! There are a few you'd like to bop on the head. Mostly helpful and polite. There is usually a volunteer in the front office helping out as well. There is a full time nurse in site who takes care of everything medically related. The school is clean, like any place in Florida there are bugs but not from dirt. They repaint it the same ole boring colours of cream and turquoise. But the district only allows for a choice between two colours. There is a gym/cafeteria/auditorium. There is a huge back PE area. Field, court and playground. All is fenced in and locked up when school is in. The only way you can get in is through the front office with an ID in hand. There is a library, which is always in need of gently used books. There is a media center and a computer lab. There is no pre-school offered but there are special needs ISD classes. Limited parking in three lots. One of them is mainly teacher parking off to the side of the school. One of front and one in the back by the car circle. You can come have lunch with your kiddo which is pretty cool and they are always looking for volunteers for various things.

The administration can be helpful, maybe some more seminars could be helpful to update them on new tactics for the classroom as well as behavior issues. Loved coming here daily and seeing the smiles on those kids faces. Most parents are actively involved in the classroom or if not, keep in touch with teachers. Beautiful school that is kept safe and secure.

As soon as we made contact with the Waldorf School of Tampa Bay, we knew that we had found something unique. My son and I were introduced to the school through the Merrily We Meet parent/child classes, taught by one of the most delightful educators you'll ever meet - Ms. Connie. She provides a beautiful introduction to Waldorf education through modeling, singing, simple handwork, puppetry, article/book discussions, and so much more! If you are interested in learning more about Waldorf education, this is such a lovely way to start. I will forever treasure the early days when I was able to attend class with my son! I shared everything I learned with my husband, who did some more research and went to tour the school with me. We saw the campus (it's magical), talked to the administration and faculty, asked tons of questions about curriculum and safety and social emotional well-being, and left the tour feeling so relieved that we had found a school where we felt our son could have the space and guidance to thrive; not just academically, but also physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Fast forward to the end of our son's first year in the early childhood program and we cannot be happier. He is excited to go to school every morning. He has lots of free play inside and outside, circle time, a healthy and hearty organic snack prepared by his teachers, and plenty of opportunities to socialize in different settings - from outside in the sandbox, to inside playing with toys, to around the table sharing a meal. He loves his teachers, and we do too! They have been very helpful in sharing ways that we can support our son's first year in school. We treasure the fact that they honor our son's current stage of childhood and respect him as a unique individual. In addition to our son's day to day happiness with his teachers and classmates, we have learned what it means to participate in a school that nurtures not only it's children, but entire families! We have had many opportunities to become involved in our school community through the parent council and through monthly parent education sessions presented by various teachers. Topics are always inspiring and range from nourishing a child's imagination, to how art feeds science, to creating loving boundaries, and many more. We have felt so welcomed and respected by the entire community throughout our first year as a Waldorf family. And we've learned a lot, too! In summary, my child is safe, well cared for, and respected at his school. His teachers know what is developmentally appropriate for his age and for him as a person, and they guide him accordingly. The teachers, administrators, and parents all support each other and the result is this peaceful, thriving, magical little community beneath the oak trees in Palm Harbor, FL. A place where learners are exposed to rigorous academics alongside the arts, plenty of time to explore and play and move their bodies, instruction in multiple languages, hands-on experiences, and countless opportunities to think critically. And I'm so glad that we get to be a part of it!

I agree, 2 years ago before my kids joined, the had…read morewonderful leadership & curriculum... we got the tail end of that and then watched this place completely fall apart. I have waited all summer to write this because I wanted it to be as un-emotional & succinct as possible. My kids attended 2 years of Montessori here. They loved the teachers but left for summer with very little support for the upcoming school year. Granted, one year was complex with COVID but there is no excuse to conduct a teaching environment if you're not following the Montessori method and actually teaching. I feel so sad for the teachers. They all mean well & love their students. However this place has had multiple admins turnover in a matter of 2 years, and teachers came & went just as easily. Unfortunately this was evident when multiple parents came together towards the end of the year and realized their kids (8-10) year olds still could not read at their grade level. This same group of parents spent their summer paying alternative schools (Kumon is who I hired) to supplement everything these kids had missed. Mind you, my son was complex and has not done well in any school due to a minor disability, however this wasn't just my son who required remedial tutoring & this review isn't solely based on my son's issues. They weren't proactive in helping me with educational resources , I had to get a 504 plan from a local elementary school, which he didn't even attend but they were willing to take me through the process. Along with charging a ridiculous amount of monthly tuition, they also had so many extra days off throughout the year...then charged extra for those care days if you were a working parent! I'm not talking holidays and 2 teacher work days. I'm talking once every month or two for no apparent reason, it was not on schedule with public schools many days they took off. They didn't pro rate, instead they charge you to "care" for, not teach your kids on those days off . the last month of school, also didn't prorate so you pay a month, get 21 days & then they charge you extra to help care for your kid the rest of the month! They also increased their tuition intermittently, I was paying approximately $1400+ per child. I'm telling you, this place will charge you & then send your kids home with subpar education to succeed thereafter. I am forever weary of Montessori going forward & have opted for charter.

Absolutely the worst staff you could imagine. It's too bad because there are many great Montessori…read moreschools out there that are excellent. The majority of the teachers are unprofessional and the principal does not have the leadership skills to identify or correct the problem. My child is in the 6th grade and several children have been inappropriately touched by other students and experienced racially related bullying as well. When parents spoke up, the staff retaliated against the students by taking away most of their privileges and cancelling all school events. Police have been present on the campus twice this year. My child, who has always been an A student, came home crying because his teacher led him to believe he is an F student. When I met with his teachers and principal, I found her story to lack any evidence and my son brought home all A's a few weeks later. I truly believe that the teacher was just being nasty. The principal and assistant supported this behavior from the teacher. I'm also shocked at the lack of education level of the faculty. There are very few times when there aren't spelling or grammar errors in what they distribute. My son has brought home reading materials with a set of questions for him to answer that didn't match the material. For the sake of the children in the Palm Harbor community that could benefit from a good private school, I hope there is a change in staff. This is not an inexpensive school by any means, I would not recommend considering this school at all.

My children have also gone to another "A" school in Westchase and this one might be slightly better, but not by much. All the schools in this area are great schools. AR (Accelerated Reading) testing is encouraged at this school, so my kids do a lot of reading and visits to the library. The AGP program is swift and challenging so your gifted children will thrive here, although science isn't included only math. The last school my children attended included math and science. There are good extracurricular activities available. My children participated in Running Club which is a favorite. There's also chess club and all types of music programs. The music program is fantastic. Mr. Washburn keeps in touch with the parents of children in chorus or any other music program and pushes the children to show artistic creativity in their performances. The vice principal is wonderful and takes time to explain anything a parent has questions about.

Most of the teachers are great and my kids really enjoyed going here. The grounds are kept up pretty good and clean. The drop off and especially the pick up lines are still in need of a better system as it takes almost 45 minutes to pick up each child so you have to prepare for all that. The administration staff seem to have it together as this school again is an A rated school and the leaders of the school have a big part in keeping it that was every single year. School is in Westchase and in a great area for a school. Makes me feel that my child is safe as they have certain policies and systems in place.
