The Oldtown Covered Bridge crosses the Little Sandy River. It is a Burr Truss design and a bit of an arch with multiple kingposts and was completed around 1880. It is 194 feet long in two spans and has survived multiple floods in the area.
Closed to vehicles since 1985, it has been through a couple of restorations and reconstructions with the most recent in 1999 with timber sourced from out of state. The bridge is open to pedestrians and easily walkable though just a little creepy. There's some history to be felt here.
A couple picnic tables and some benches make this a nice stop on a pleasant day. Don't miss it.
