Staff is amazing her on the other hand I thought she was really nice until the experience I had with her today very rude I had got a crown placed 6/24/2025 on my tooth something was not right with it I came in today to get it adjusted and she shaved it Down trying to help relieve my pain but didn't help she started getting a little defensive once I told her that I didn't have this pain when I had the temporary one on she then tells me to "SHUT UP AND LISTEN GRABBED MY HAND WITH MY WATCH ON IT FOR ME TO LOOK AT THE TIME AND PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THAT SHE IS THE PROFESSIONAL AND SHE KNOW WHAT PAIN IM FEELING AND STARTED SAYING THAT THE PAIN WAS COMING FROM OTHER PLACES "(mind you it only hurts when I touch that one tooth) I TOLD OLGA FREY "NOT TO TOUCH ME AND TO ACT PROFESSIONAL AND IF SHE NEEDED TO STEP OUT AND HAVE A BREATHER TO DO SO BUT HAVE SOME RESPECT AND DONT TELL ME THE PATIENT TO SHUT UP YOU CAN SPEAK TO YOUR STAFF IN THAT WAY AND ITS UP TO THEM NOT TO SAY ANYTHING BUT YOU AINT GOING TO SPEAK TO ME THE PATIENT IN THAT WAY " Olga Frey then goes starts recording with her cellphone and continues to try a belittle me and tells me she is not a therapist nor a psychiatrist and then started saying I have psych issues because of my pain so I just walked out because there's only so much you can take she then follows me to the front desk where her receptionist sits Olga Frey continue with her disrespectful behavior, her receptionist saw how much I was trying to hold it in so she tried helping me I asked for a referral to another dentist who can help me with the pain Olga then yell at her staff and told her not to help me because I was no longer a patient there (my choice not hers) she then said "im going to have to teach my staff to listen to me and not the patient " trust me or see for yourself read more

No doctor should utter these words after being asked questions: "We don't know what you do for a living, but we don't have time to answer all your questions." That was what this dentist said to my husband today. We've never been made to feel so guilty for asking questions about our treatment. After several treatments over the last three months, my husband and I are taking our business elsewhere. This dentist has no bedside manner. She might be good at what she does, as far as her dental work goes, but her insensitivity to other human beings overrides whatever skill she may have as a dentist. I'm not sure why other reviewers mentioned that they will work with your financial situation - we've had numerous treatments that she said needed to be done right away (?) and once our insurance ran out, they were not willing to work out a payment plan. Doctor seems rushed - in both my visits, I ended up asking the assistant/hygienist my questions, because the doctor was already out of the room and barely acknowledged me. (But I did get to hear her conversation with her assistant all about her mother and her nursing home while I was convulsing from the pain.) The office staff was nice and helpful, but I felt so uncomfortable with this dentist. I left almost in tears last week. Unless you have full availability during 9-4 hours, it will be hard to get an appointment here and it's really not worth that wait. Dr Frey has a cold and imperious demeanor, bordering on downright hostile. That's ok, I don't need a friend. But when the Dr performed a root canal and crown on my daughter and it failed and became compromised within a few years and had to be re-done by another dentist, the sour taste of our office visits became questions about competence. read more

Have new dental insurance and had to look around for a new dentist. I love the office space -- built into nooks and crannies of a 1st floor space in an old home/building on Broadway. The space was well kept and very clean. It was a little strange that I had to walk through a space where another patient was getting his cleaning to be seated in the treatment area that I was sitting in. I found the reception staff to be friendly, efficient, and helpful -- both on the phone and in person. I was not in a rush for an appointment -- I was able to get one within a month of when I called to schedule. The receptionist did call to see if I wanted an earlier appointment that came available -- I was just not available for the time that she called about. As I sat in the reception area, I watched the receptionist greet other patients. You could tell there were patients that had been coming to the office regularly and that other family members visited the office too. They spoke easily to each other and knew about each other (i.e. enough to ask about a new baby in the family). Dr. Frey did my first cleaning herself. She answered all of my questions thoroughly and without too much "doctor speak". I will certainly go back and I do recommend to others that are looking for a dentist on the West Side. read more

For the two years I lived in Providence, I went to Dr. Frey for all my dentist work. After several terrible dentist experiences, Dr. Frey and her staff were a godsend. They were always friendly, helpful, understanding, and thoughtful. Dr. Frey is a no-nonsense doctor in the best way--she doesn't try to scam you, convince you that you've got weird dental issues as a way to get more revenue, or talk down to you. She tells it to you straight, which I loved. She's also very delicate when dealing with your teeth, so I never walked away with any pain from cleanings or a major filling repair she completed. For the entire time I saw Dr. Frey I was an AmeriCorps member living on a small stipend with menial insurance. Her staff was always understanding of that and worked with me so that I could afford the healthcare I needed. Today, I had to cancel my cleaning with Dr. Frey because I have recently moved to New York City. I can honestly say that I've never been so sad to leave a doctor. The treatment I got at Dr. Frey's office makes me happy to make her my first ever Yelp review! I first found Dr. Frey's office as an undergrad at Brown--my teeth are normally complicated, but this was the first time I had to have work done away from my home in California. As such, I was super nervous, both about the procedures/pain, and about navigating health insurance/payments without the immediate help of my parents. Right off the bat, Dr. Frey's entire office was very friendly, welcoming, and informative. Everyone was always ready to answer my (numerous) questions or give me advice, and the lines of communication were always kept open. They were transparent about insurance and the copays I would have to make in a variety of situations, and kindly explained each procedure while never beating around the bush--I had to have multiple weeks' worth of appointments made back to back given the amount of dental work I had to have completed, but I never felt rushed or pressured (quite the opposite, I always felt very taken care of). I can confidently say that this office has provided me with the best dental care I've ever experienced! read more

As I write this after reading the other reviews I have mixed feelings, While the office staff is pleasant I barely know Dr. Frey and she needed to perform extensive work on a few teeth. She barely spoke to me or even cared (I felt) about me. She performed a miracle with a few crowns but complained to me that I need more work, when I had just drop $2,000 in her office for the work. Like I said her staff is great and very sympathetic but she really needs some people skills.. read more

I'm so glad I found this small, efficient office - I have never felt rushed and also never waited more than a few minutes to be seen for an appointment, which amazes me after over a dozen cleanings and a few more complicated procedures. I hate dentists. I have found dentists as a population to be largely untrustworthy, unkind, brash, and generally sketchy. With that said, Dr. Frey is the epitome of what a dentist should be. Kind, generous with the novocain, and very honest. I made my first appointment with Dr. Frey after a several years of not having seen a dentist, and walked in convinced that most of my teeth were probably going to fall out at any moment. I had been having some discomfort with a tooth that had previously been filled and I suspected the filling was cracked but obviously didn't know for sure. I also suspected I had tons of other cavities and would likely need at least 1 root canal. I feel like I should also mention that I have no dental insurance, so I was sure this was going to be thousands of dollars worth of very painful work in the end. After taking some x-rays and looking at my teeth Dr. Frey said that the filling was cracked and she could replace it right then (awesome)! She loaded me up with novocain and went to work, the one instance where I felt anything she immediately stopped and gave me more novocain. It was quick and painless (if you don't count the novocain injections lol). After Dr. Frey was finished she told me that I didn't have any other cavities but that she could tell I didn't floss every day (busted!). I don't think I'd ever felt this relieved in my life. The whole experience was wonderful. I was never shamed or made to feel bad for not taking better care of my teeth, never did Dr. Frey or any of the staff try to sell me a fancy mouthwash/toothbrush/etc, also Dr. Frey has an adorable french bulldog who let me pet him the entire time I was there. The whole thing took a little over an hour. The office is clean and everything looks new, or at least very recently updated. Every staff member and hygienist that I interacted with was nice, friendly, and professional. Everything was explained to me in a way I could understand without anyone treating me like I was completely inept. Also, x-rays, a very deep filling, and everything that goes along with that cost me around $250. Dr. Frey could have been charging double what I paid and I still would be happy and excited to return. The only disappointment is that it took me so long to find such a wonderful dentist. read more

I needed an unexpected dental repair and Dr. Frey was the only dentist (of the many I called) who was taking new patients. And what luck! She and her staff are friendly and professional, the office space is clean and comfortable, and she did a very nice repair job. There are definitely good and bad things about this office so I'll try and be fair and discuss both. Good: - friendly staff who are knowledgeable and take time to answer your questions - Some flexibility and willingness to work with you financially around insurance issues - great location if you live in federal hill Bad: - Dentist can seem really rushed and works very fast. There was even one visit where the dentist was not going to talk to me at all until I requested to ask her a question, which I found strange that I had to ask to see her when I was being billed for seeing her. - I had several fillings done that were extremely sensitive afterward. The dentist and staff kept telling me it would go away and to continue using Sensodyne toothpaste. This went on for over a year until I just moved, found a new dentist, and learned the tooth had become infected and i needed a root canal. Yikes! How did the dentist miss this!? - Also, had a different root canal over a year and a half ago and was told by Dr. Frey I could wait on having a crown placed. My new dentist was shocked that they would tell me to wait this long and said it put my tooth in serious risk for not having a crown placed on it sooner. So, I would say if you live in Federal Hill and need a dentist for basic cleaning and maintenance this office might be fine, but reconsider if you need more intensive services. read more

I have visited many dentists in RI in the past due to different dental issues. Someone recomended Dr Frey to me about 6yrs ago after listening to my complain about dentists... now my entire family and some friends are very pleased to be part of her clientele. Olga and her wonderful staff kindly volunteered to do the dental screening free of charge for the Charter School I work at in Providence, to students who didn't have a family dentist. Olga is very experienced, her staff is super friendly, the background music is awesome and her dog Kharma is very lovable. I had my regular cleanning today and I loved seeing the upgrade of the brand new dental chairs and X-ray machines. Location is good, the areas are a bit small and they are not totally private, however, they're very clean. The MUST important thing to me is to have a dentist who takes pride on his/her work and understand that my smile is precious and If I look good she/he'll look better :-) Carla B read more

A dentist should not create a health plan based on assumptions and guesses. Their xray machine wasn't working the day I went in and the dentist told me she'd be replacing four fillings I had. She also said she could tell I had decay under my sealants by the way the light was hitting them...with no baseline xrays to even look at. I went to another dentist, because this didn't sound right to me. He took a full mouth xray and said there was no decay and my fillings were holding up fine. Imagine if I let her work on me? Also, the dental chair I sat in was broken, so my head kept falling down to below the hygienist's knees. It was the worst cleaning I have ever received. read more

This office is just ok. The secretary was never rude to me, but never nice either. I always felt like I was bothering her whenever I called to make an appointment or came in for my appointment. The hygenists were always very nice and did the majority of the work. I hardly ever spoke to Dr. Frey and she always came in and out and never even asked me if I had any questions. On the first visit she looked at my teeth for about 10 seconds and left. She was always rough whenever she treated me and I didn't like it. I went there about four times. Decided that if I felt uncomfortable walking into an office, I probably should find somewhere else that made me feel more welcome. read more

Dr. Frey is a great dentist. I have been going to her office for 12 years and I am happy with her work. She has a gentle touch and I feel very secure. She is very knowledgeable, insightful, thorough and very intuitive.She always finds time for me if I have any problem within couple days. I have never had any bad experience regarding payments or money issues. She does outstanding and creative dental work which some dentists will never tried. I was in difficult situations in my life and she always supported and comforted me with nice words and her life experience. She has done some dental work for me just for free, because she is amazing human being. The office is always clean. The girls are wonderful! It is always on time - shocking for any doctors. She is a dog lover. I love her dog Karma , which is very theraputic. She is very honest and straight forward dentist which is very important for me. I trust her with all my heart. read more

I saw another dentist for my entire life until 2 years ago. Now that I see what a great dentist is supposed to be like - I realized what a HACK the other guy was!!!! On my first visit to Dr. Frey's office, she noticed that my silver filling (which she actually told me was unnecessary!!! He could have used white at that time!) was put in incorrectly, and that my tooth was actually decaying from trapped rot under the filling! YUCK! She fixed me today, and filled in another tooth that had previously been ground down due to teeth-grinding as a child. All of the ladies in her office are very nice, polite, and happy. The office seems very new or updated, bright, cheerful, and clean. I tell anyone looking for a new dentist to go to her. Appointments can be a little difficult to get before a month's time - but if you schedule them in advance anyway there should be no problem. read more

While Dr. Frey seemed nice and reasonable, she didn't spend much time with me -- part of that time she was pushing products they were selling. My motivation to write this review is because I was shamed and aggressively (partially) cleaned by a hygienist here. She was visibly frustrated, guilted me throughout the cleaning and gave up mid-way through -- claiming that I needed a "deep clean" procedure. After learning my insurance wouldn't cover this expensive recommendation, I decided not to do it. It's about 9 Months later, I just went to a different hygienist & dentist who were surprised to learn that this was recommended, based on looking at my X-Rays from then and current teeth/gum health. I realize that different dentists / hygienists have different styles, however, I don't find the shaming and aggression to be acceptable or excusable. It actually caused me to cry the next few times I brushed my teeth and made me fearful about future cleanings! read more

She is also an artist, a sculptor who rescues smiles from past woes to shine far into the future. For me it isn't easy being a dental patient.
