It's a lot more than the name implies. I went there for, yes, olive oil and some vinegar. But I left with those items plus some bacon aioli, dirty martini olive juice, cheese stuffed olives, and olive tapenade. They've got an incredible assortment of jellies, seasonings, marinades, pickled veggies, it's just a super fun store. When I got home I made a simple dressing of my garlic olive oil and red vinegar (heavily aged for quality) and I definitely approve of them both! My only regret is stopping here AFTER Christmas. I have several gift ideas already for next year. Also, the lady at the counter is very sweet, friendly and helpful. Just a fantastic local business.

This is the perfect place to shop to get those meaningful gifts everyone is looking for! The downside is you might just end up keeping a lot of what you buy for yourself. Very reasonably priced oils, balsamic vinegars, jams and aioli's made in house and they will gift wrap it up for the perfect stocking stuffers. I recommend the Merlot Balsamic, it tastes like candy!

Fantastic selection of flavored olive oils. The 18 year old balsamic vinegar is outstanding.

Located in the Northeast neighborhood of Minneapolis, Surdyk's Liquor and Cheese is an institution,…read morestarted as a liquor and grocery store in 1934, moving to this location in 1979. Now run by third-generation owners, it expanded to retailing fine wine and cheeses as well. I stopped in to buy some house gifts, and was pleasantly surprised by its very large selection of products, displayed in a way that it was enjoyable to do some 'window shopping'. In my case, I focused on the whiskey's and found what I was hoping for (from the Nikka distillery, a place I had visited a long time ago). But surprisingly it carried American made whiskey (in this case, from the Seattle area) for a price that was lower than what I had paid when actually visiting the distillery itself. I took the time to walk around a bit, noticing that they had an entire section devoted to just German and Austria wines. (Would have been shocked to find wines from Luxembourg, which is on my list). There were also a large beer refrigerated room, as big as any I've seen at big retailers. Of course, it had the beers from the Midwest that are hard to find where I live now (Leinenkugel, Hamm's, and Zywiec). Also noticed a small display of cigars, protected behind locked glass. Ended up getting two Westland Single Malt 750ml for $56.99 each. Checkout was identical to any large liquor store chain (like a grocery store checkout with employees who do checkout and are not really knowledgeable about the products sold).

They have some of the best iced lattes I have tried in the twin cities! I typically get an iced miel and it is always made perfectly here. Pricing is very reasonable for the area. All of the pastries have always been delicious as well. A quick, easy spot to get coffee that you wouldn't immediately think about.
