As someone who normally really enjoys Mediterranean food, I figured I would try The Olive Branch. The empty dining room should have been my first warning sign. Every other place downtown was packed with hour-long waits, while this place had nobody inside. It also took quite a while for someone to notice me and take my order. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate, which came with chicken, rice, hummus, and pita bread. Once I got back in the car and started eating on the way to my destination, I found that the pita was stale and hard, and the hummus had an unpleasant taste that made it inedible for me. I only had a few small pieces of chicken that looked very, okay -- and quite different from any chicken Shawarma I've ever had. I will say the rice was actually very good and that's all I ate from my $20 entree. In the end, I threw away about three-quarters of the meal and wish I saved the $20, as I ended up stopping somewhere else for food afterward. Overall, I'd strongly recommend steering clear of this place, especially with so many better options nearby. read more

Passing through Farmington we found this little gem on our way to the Brewstillery. This food was top notch, we usually cant find good charred lamb anywhere. The shish lamb kabob had those delicious little charred edges that we Brits love. The tomatoes were perfect roasted and there was oddles of rice. Then we dug into the Foul and it was heavenly, I could have bathed in it. The owners are Palestinian and Dad certainly knows his way around the kitchen. It was snowing outside and I'm glad because sitting inside was more authentic. We scored some Turkish Delight and a massive bag of Dill Weed to bring home. I come from a big city in California and have been missing and craving Mediterranean food from my hometown. My family and I often make the hour drive to Farmington to shop and have always passed this place. I am glad to say I found a Mediterranean restaurant to fix my cravings! The portion size is huge and the food is affordable. The taste is always on point and they never disappoint. Staff are extremely friendly. I was not that hungry so I had Lentil Soup which was very good. This is more of a take-out place rather than a restaurant - meals are served in foam take-out containers with plastic utensils. This cute little new cafe had EXCELLENT customer service! The young man at the front was very personable and offered a free Turkish coffee sample while I waited for my order. I have been here many times and the food has always been amazing. We order in sometimes too and it's just as good when it's to go. The rice has this incredible buttery flavor and texture. And their baklava is the BEST! The meals are big too. I can usually get two meals out of each order. Everyone is always nice and we love to be able to sit and eat downtown. read more
