Due to a forced 401k distribution/rollover/tax withholding, etc, I was a little unsure about how to handle it. I had an idea through research on the internet (and multiple LLM conversations), but I wanted to talk to a CPA or Tax person to confirm. I sent out a bunch of requests on Yelp to get quotes for a conversation that I estimated would take no more than 15-30 minutes just to make sure my understanding is correct. I got a bunch of replies ranging from $100-$385. Somebody even said I needed to complete an engagement letter to have the conversation! APEX sent me a message telling me how to address my tax issue with filings and what my expected outcome should be depending on whether or not my son owes taxes. He literally said, "You should be able to use Turbo tax to handle...if you have trouble use their support or take it to H&R Block...You don't need a CPA..." No quote. Just good and clear advice on what to do. I currently do not need any other accounting/tax assistance, but if I did, I would go to Apex -- not because they are "any more right" than any other CPA firm, but because they clearly value *YOUR* time and money -- not just theirs. I like to do business with good human beings who, to some degree, treat business like it's part of a community and not just a capitalist market. Recognizing that my need "wasn't a big deal" for their level of expertise and taking a few minutes to type out a solution with no request for compensation speaks more volumes about the business than people who have paid for the service, in my mind. If they can be this complete in answers for a person who isn't paying them a dime during the time of year when they are most busy and can treat this period like a "cash cow" and bill for every minute, then how complete, thorough and diligent do you think they will be for a paying client? At some point, I want to do more real estate investing -- I read in other reviews that Apex also has experience in this space. I will call upon them for sure if I ever need assistance. If you need financial solutions assistance, I highly recommend that you give Apex Tax and Financial Solutions a shot at your business.

We met with Michael McArdel and reviewed our previous and current tax year and thought all was well. He called us in several weeks later and we thought we'd be getting the return finalized. At the meeting he said our taxes were a bit complicated and he still need an explanation of one itemization which was answered the following day. The demeanor of this meeting and the other was he seemed to struggle with the return. In previous years, we were both earning mid to high six figure income with lot's of deductions, both of us being in sales and managing business's. We have in the last three years become independent contractors and are making a third less income with less deductions. Connovers bills were in the range of $450 to a high of $650.00. We were a little surprised with McArdels complaint that our return as being "complicated". When the taxes were ready for pickup, we got a bill that was at least 30% higher than the professional tax accounting service we'd used in previous years, plus he chose to apply our return to future IRS taxes rather than refund to us. This was done without consultation or advisement. Please let me decide where my money goes! Anyway, I would not recommend this company to do your tax returns- I will sacrifice gas money and go back to Connover Tax Service in Kirkland in future years.
