All my sprinkler stations lost pressure after a plumbing company repaired a section of the sprinkler pipe. The plumber had no idea what caused the problem. He told me that I should hire a sprinkler repair company to look into the problem. After reading reviews of sprinkler repair companies on Yelp, I called Jose who had 20 years of sprinkler repair experience. Jose agreed to come at 3 pm in the afternoon. I was very impressed by all kinds of sprinkler repair tools he had in his van. After cutting the pipe repaired by the plumber, Jose quickly found out the cause of the problem. He and his assistant repaired the pipe, let it sit for 30 minutes and then started testing my sprinkler system again. Every sprinkler station worked fine again. Plumbers are good for doing the in-house plumbing jobs. For sprinkler issues, it's good idea to hire a sprinkler repair expert like Jose. I was going to wait to leave a review, but the situation has changed in a way that prompted me to leave the review now. If I need to change it later I will. I called because I had an underground leak in my sprinkler system near the valves. Jose quoted me a price that was a bit cheaper than I was expecting, so that was a good start. once he dug up the system near the problem (through a bunch roots no less), he not only found the major leak, but some additional, old piping that was shut off with a leaky valve. He fixed the big leak, isolated the system from the rest of the unnecessary plumbing, and installed a valve upstream from the valves (so that we don't need to turn off water to the house to work on the system again). Took about 4 hours including a trip to the hardware store and even with the extra work he didn't charge me more. So far, I can say that the leak is definitely a lot less than it was, if not completely fixed. It's too early to say because there hasn't been enough time to let the area completely dry up yet. If it's not completely fixed, Jose said he'd come back and make sure it does get completely fixed. Once that work was done, I figured I'd wait until I was sure it was fixed before leaving a review. But, I accidentally busted off a sprinkler head while mowing the lawn the other day. It looked like a problem I could probably fix in an afternoon if I really put my mind to it, but I just didn't want to deal with it, so I called up Jose again. At 7:30 AM he answered the phone, said he could come by at 9AM. He showed up right on time and said he could fix it, no problem. He gave me an unbelievably low quote (seems like it would barely pay gas money) and had it fixed in about 30 minutes. So, based on the sprinkler head repair, I would absolutely recommend this company for any sprinkler repair you need. Based on the original leak fix; so far so good. It is still definitely a recommend. I just don't know for sure if it is fixed or not yet. read more

I called around to have some sprinkler work. Some companies told me their rates are around $80/hour and they could give a free estimate but they would take a week before they could come. Jose Olivio was prompt in coming to see the sprinklers and to give a free estimate. The scope of work was as follows: - Replace 2 sprinkler valves (home depot sells each one for $15) - Fix a leak in one location of the sprinkler system He quoted the replacement of the 2 valves for $190 (includes the $30 material). Fixing the leak was quoted at $60. He finished both of those things in 1 hour. Doing the math, this comes to $220/hour. On top of that you have to add a 3% credit card fee if you use a credit card. After fixing these 2 things there was more work to do because he said some roots have gotten into the PVC pipe of the sprinklers. At this time, to see if I wanted to hire him for more work he said his rate is normally $140/hour. Of course, this now showed me that he charges by the hour but for the work he just did I was charged $220/hour instead of the $140/hour he normally charges. The work he did was good. I was just not happy with the pricing, especially when he told me later that he normally charges less! read more

He was easy to get ahold of, on time, and extremely courteous, professional, and easy to talk to. Turns out the problem wasn't in my sprinkler system, but my neighbor's. I called on Tuesday afternoon and Jose came out on Thursday AM. I explained that I wanted my sprinkler system removed as my lawn only grows weeds and I was gutting it for a raised planter set up. He said he'd be back later that afternoon to remove the exposed items (the stuff under ground could stay). I left him a check at the agreed upon, very reasonable rate, and when I returned home from work yesterday I was pleasantly greeted with the removal of the ugly sprinkler valves and all the sprinkler heads as well as a new shut off valve that is much more durable than the plastic one I had already. Based on the Yelp reviews I contacted Olivio Sprinkler to come out and repair my 90 year old neighbors sprinkler system which was leaking. This guy charged them $290 for leaky valve replacements and $490 for a system "tune-up" - a total of $780. A month later we found a leak, and when called he said it would be another $120 because it was a different valve and he'd have to replace that too. Have no clue why he didn't replace all of the valves - he said he would replace the old ones. For $780, he should have thoroughly checked everything in the system. Instead, he did a poor job of checking the system and then looked to overcharge again for valve replacement (I found someone licensed to do it for $45). Not going to recommend anyone who thinks it's okay to take advantage of anyone, especially the elderly. Do not trust Olivio Sprinkler Repair to work on your system. read more

Based solely on the two positive reviews before mine, I called Olivio's to arrange for repair of my irrigation system. I called, left a message which was returned in a very impressive short time. We agreed to meet at 5pm yesterday. Unfortunately, no one ever showed up. No calls to explain, nor effort to reschedule. Just a no-show. A complete waste of time and a totally lost day in getting the repairs I need. UPDATE: To be fair, I just received a call that the appointment was believed to be TODAY not yesterday. While I'm sure the appointment was when I thought, I do believe the story. Additionally, Jose personally came to the house, introduced himself and apologized. In short, I would highly and unreservedly recommend Olivio: his Team was effective, competent, and got the job done with integrity. To start, I initially had sought a few Quotes for a pressing job. His Quote was not the cheapest, but he and his Team had the tools that I felt were necessary. He also seemed to have a lot of personal integrity, which I felt in all meant his work would likely be worth it. Indeed it was. First up was quickly finding and trenching/repairing a major vexing leak. For this repair - done quickly I was happy to see - he proposed charging $1,000 which I felt was a bit high; he responded by fixing a second problem pipe for free: I was happy with that response and pleased with the result which took many more hours... That was considerable additional work. Next up was re-piping to prevent small future leaks in an area that was large and this brought the total to around $3,200. This was a reasonable Bill given the scale of matters, I felt it was justified given that the latter turned out to be a several day job for 2 - 3 men. Plus his Team fixed - again gratis a pipe that was leaking because it had been unnoticed left on - they cut away excess piping and appropriately capped it. Simple sounding but that metal work took some added cutting and was nice to have done "for free" and much more professionally than I could have done myself. In sum I found he and his Team are an excellent choice; they are fair, honest, competent, found the leaks and fixed all. I live in Olivenhain and they are close enough that this was no problem. I am so thankful I was referred to Jose Olivio by another contractor. Long story short, I have lived in a house for about 8 years with 3 different valve locations that cover over .5 acre of land. All but 2 valves had been inop. I recently re-landscaped myself, pouring a patio and layed astroturf over the front section and in an attempt to get the valves working in the front (which had never worked and I was told by a landscaper I had hired prior to this would never work) I performed electrical testing myself, having found the valves themselves were good by ohm testing, I found I had a voltage drop and the loss of 10 volts by the time it got to the valves from the controller (started at 27 volts), which was the reason the valve would not engage when commanded. I needed someone skilled, who understood electrical systems and could test, not just recommend re-running wiring or moving the controller which would have cost an arm and a leg. Not only did Jose find my voltage loss and correct it all within a 2 hour period, but he came the day I called him, which I had not expected but definitely appreciated. And the charge.... very minimal in respect to the nights I had spent myself trying to trace the problem after work. After he did that, he repaired a leak he had found since he was there, and re-secured all connections at all the valves with the proper silicone/water proof connectors. He is professional & very skilled, he uses top tier products which shows he cares about the quality and longevity of his work. Very irresponsible! I made an appointment with Olivio to do an estimate at 1pm today. He did not show up. I didn't get any call saying that he would be late or can't make it. I came home from work just to meet up with him. But he didn't show. I called him three times and left message for him. He finally picked up after three calls and tells me that he's half way across town. It was already 1:15pm by that time. This is very irresponsible and disrespectful of the customer's time. He came to my house right away (1 hour) and figured out that the problem was my automatic sprinkler settings were watering way too much. I don't know, maybe my previous gardeners changed the settings to every day? I'm pretty sure these guys ripped me off. I had a backyard water leak. They arrived, dug up buried sprinkler valve main which the prior owners had buried. They cut out the valve and capped the pipe and charged me 190. I only capped the pipe because they did not explain that the external water could be switched off and not all the main water to the house. He told me the definitive repair would be "really expensive". I had some distrust in his service and sought other quotes. I then had the valve replaced for 200 by another company and it works great. Pretty crooked if you ask me. I will say they made accommodations to come out the same day I discovered the problem and provided a temporary fix, but it was costly and could have been fixed with simple turning of a handle, had I know better. read more
