I had despaired of ever getting the slope (well, more like a cliff) in my backyard cleaned up and stabilized with a secondary keystone block retaining wall. It wasn't a complex job, but the the site was a giant mess, with a lot of overgrowth and debris. Michael's bid was well within my budget, and he was able to schedule the job for a time that was convenient for me. He also offered clear explanations about why the work would best be done a certain way. When it came to the work itself, his crew was outstanding. On September 17, 2026, my wife and I met with Michael B. Moore, owner of Pacific Landscaping & Maintenance, for an estimate on a project involving plant installation, irrigation installation, re-grading, crushed rock, and a curb rock bed. He arrived on time and handed us a business card. However, the rest of the meeting did not go well for us. He spoke very quickly and looked at his phone frequently, and we felt he was not fully listening to what we wanted. When I scheduled our appointment, we sent him our designer's plan, which showed bender board separating the small rocks from the large ones, along with photographs of our property. He therefore had the full scope of work before he arrived. Yet his first statement to us at the meeting was, "This job is not so simple," which contradicted what he had said when I scheduled the appointment. He also told us the bender board was not necessary. Our property is on a slope; hence, the two different rocks would most certainly mix over time. Next, he said previous contractors' quotes had not included enough rock and recommended roto-tilling the property. He did not take any measurements before saying we would need more rock, stating he could estimate the amount by eye. When I asked whether he planned to measure, given the quantity involved, he said it wasn't necessary but agreed to do so reluctantly. During the meeting, he mentioned several times how busy he was and that he had 20 employees. He also criticized the other contractors we had received estimates from, which we found unprofessional. While my wife was still explaining what we were looking for, he said he did not want to take on the job and walked away. We found this rude. We also waited a full week between our initial contact and this meeting, and we were left puzzled as to why he bothered to schedule our appointment when he said he was so busy. I needed a new lawn and got my standard five bids for the job. Michael stood out for all of his initial input on the options and then for the details of his bid. He was the only one who detailed every item involved in the bid, including update of irrigation. I've had issues in the past with bids for other projects that I assumed included the little details but didn't and then I had to pay extra. Michael's bid included every detail in writing that you would assume would be a part of a new lawn job and it was very reasonable. He also showed up on time for the initial appointment! His crew was great! Their work was very detailed and clean. The job was done within three days and all of the work area, including the driveway, was cleaned up. They even noted my falling-apart fence gate so Michael gave me a very reasonable quote and they did a great job fixing it for me. There were a lot of details for after-care and I've texted Michael multiple times to confirm. He texts back quickly and I never get the impression he's annoyed (I've sent a lot of texts!). I almost wish I had more yard renovations so that I could hire him again! I did discuss a whole-yard mulch job and will absolutely hire Michael when I'm ready for that. We needed to get our garden and patio completely redone and after meeting with a couple of contractors, we settled on Pacific Landscaping & Maintenance (PL&M). Michael Moore, the owner explained the design and implementation process and gave us three options for the garden design; two designers that were CAD based and the third designer used good ol' pen and paper. We chose to go with the 3rd option Kirk Neuroth. Michael said that he had a 3-month wait before he could start the job which was OK with us, as we were waiting for some patio pavers and paver pedestals to arrive. We had a couple of city sewer manhole covers to hide on the patio, so we decided to mount the pavers horizontally on variable height pedestals with the concrete base for the pavers set at a 2% grade to drain any rainwater away from the house. PL&M organized the concrete pad framing and the concrete pouring and the result looked great. My wife and I decided to save some $$$ and so we installed all the XL square pavers on the raised pedestals ourselves which took about 10 hours for 45 pavers. Very simple with a spirit level and a screwdriver. PL&M did the rest of the work, including laying pavers on a pathway with thinset, laying other pavers on decomposed granite (DG), cutting and fitting all the paver edge pieces, redoing all the irrigation and drainage, installing lighting, rebuilding a 30ft fence, building additional custom fencing to hide the AC and the automatic driveway gate, grading and planting all new plants, etc. Now it's all finished , the garden looks really great and we're very happy with the result. Just be prepared to wait a couple of months as PL&M is busy with multiple customers and you have to wait until one of PL&M's installation teams is available. read more

Ok, I'm not a big review guy, and honestly my wife and I seem to be historically cursed when it comes to contractors or service professionals in general. However, Michael and Cesar and the team at Pacific have seemingly restored our trust, as they knocked our large project out of the park and we could not be happier. We got three quotes, and were expecting Michael's to be the highest relative to his obvious superiority of knowledge and experience when compared to the other contractors. Thus we were surprised when his quote was the lowest of the three, despite being the most thorough and carrying the most confidence in quality of final product. They then delivered in all phases - the project was on time, on budget, and to our high standard of craftsmanship. Michael offered valuable insight to small design tweaks that really added to the overall cohesion and lasting durability of the project. How often is a big, complicated project completed on time, on budget, and better than you expected? This was our experience with Michael and his team - and we are totally thrilled with the results. We did a complete overhaul of both our front and back yard, including a massive hardscape project, patio cover, plumbing, irrigation, and electrical. At every stage we were kept in the loop on exactly what was happening and what to expect. We used Yardzen to create our design, and Michael gave us great advice on how to tweak it to make it more functional and cost less to implement. He added little suggestions throughout that we wouldn't have thought of to make the yard more functional and easier to maintain.
