Floor & Decor recommends then won't get involved when Installation Made Easy screws things up royally. Installation Made Easy acts like they're providing the actual in-home service, but really they just pass the work over to a pre-arranged general contractor. That general contractor will then subcontract the bulk of their work to a subcontractor. In some cases, the subcontractor will subcontract again. The general contractors do horrible work, they lie, they're terrible to work with, and worse in some instances. If you go back to Installation Made Easy, they refuse to do much, if anything, saying they're not a contractor. Installation Made Easy hides behind the fact they're a middle man company that merely helps you find a contractor they hand pick. Bottom line is - stay away from Home Decor and Installation Made Easy. They're all utterly incompetent, and you'll live to regret stepping into the store in the first place.

What I've learned in this adventure is that you'll run into "designers" at each of these places, and 9 times out of 10, they are not the kind of people you want designing your home. Enter Ethan Allen. A place where the designers are actual interior designers. They will not stalk you around the store unless you ask. And while I always had the impression that Ethan Allen was really expensive, it's not any pricier than any other of its competing brands. Are you going to find a $400 sofa here? No. But we've found a good mix of quality and pricing that has made it worth it to spend a little extra. Plus they make a lot of their furniture right here in the US of A, and I'm willing to spend more for that. We've been working with Ardith Huesz for about 6 months now. We made our first order in April (for an entertainment stand), and shortly after it showed up, we placed an order for a custom sofa to be delivered this fall (custom upholstery takes forever, no matter where you go). Ardith is great; she has a good sense of space & color, which has been a great help in trying to fill our new construction, white walled home. She's also not afraid to tell you what would look good in a space, even if it's something she can't sell you (she recommended a dining table set look that they don't carry). After our entertainment center was delivered, we had her bring out textile samples to help us pick out a couch fabric, as well as for general advice on how to proceed in furniture our home. So we love Ardith. We love the EA delivery team (the friendliest, most efficient and most careful ones we've met). And we'll definitely be back for another piece once our new couch comes in.

We had an issue with a factory defect in our recliner, which it took 3 months before they found a 'match' to replace a section of leather on the arm. Out came the 'repair man', who did a wonderfully terrible job, at which point we demanded they take the chair to their warehouse or wherever they take it to get it right. They did...after a month of waiting. 2 1/2 months later we finally received the recliner back with the new piece of leather on it...it looked good, or so we thought. There was another defect in the leather! This was beyond visible to the eye, but still somehow passed QC and was sent to our house. Now we have a call and email into the customer service rep and the store owner to contact us immediately, and still no response, not like this is a surprise or anything. So, we paid almost $2,000 for a chair and have had it in our house for 2 total months even though we ordered it 10 months ago...and it's still not right!! There's more, but I think I've gotten my point across. Ethan Allen may have great furniture, but DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE!! Or if you do, don't say we didn't warn you.

Today I attended the Herb Planting Class at Kospia Farms. First I want to comment that with…read moreeverything going on at the Farm today in celebration of Mothers, it was very well organized. Behind the greenhouse, we had a delightful time listening to our instructors who clearly have worked side by side at the farm. Educational facts about herbs with a sprinkling of humor began the event. It is so wonderful to attend a class where they share their knowledge about the herbs and their uses. They give you salient advice that helps you decide on which herbs fit the taste profile you enjoy so you build your herb pot on what fits you. Then to top it all off they gave us a handout that covered trimming, drying and pairing herbs as well as a few recipes! A wonderful experience! Thank you for making my Mother's day extra special!
