It has that official but sort of time stamped '70s or '80s Sunbelt government office building look. The difference is that it sits up high off the ground, possibly to put USPS vehicle parking under it and maybe even because it can rain hard here. With its being off the ground, the maze of ramps to make it accessible is one of the most noticeable things about this place. Once inside, the actual post office is small. The staff is accustomed to working at a USPS location that sees a lot of tourists with many different needs, so they appear to be mellow and are fairly helpful. The zone for the post office boxes is a lot larger than the post office lobby itself, which is actually small. I went here to mail four postcards that I got for a very good price. I still send them, though a lot less than before. There isn't much of a market for postcards anymore. The big beachwear and novelty stores on the island don't sell them and I actually stumbled onto them at a store in Port Isabel. Two of the postcards traveled domestically and two of them traveled to Italy. The two sent within the U.S. got to their recipients fairly quickly. Those going to Italy must have been on a "milk train." You already know which side is at fault. The parking lot in front of this USPS branch is large. Also, befitting the smaller year-round population numbers of SPI, this branch has slightly shorter hours from Monday through Friday - until 4:30 p.m. - and a very short window of hours on Saturday mornings.

BEWARE OF FALSE INFORMATION! I went in to schedule notary services for a POA and a will. He (the…read moreowner) asked me the usual questions which is understandable considering a Power of Attorney is a serious document. AFter I explained the situation (and that it involved sale of a property and a possible lawsuit) he proceeded to ask questions about a lawsuit and that he needed to know this in order to decide if he was going to notarize the document. ONe has nothing to do with the other. He then informed me that the POA does NOT have to be filed with county but the will does. THIS IS FALSE. IN order for anyone to execute a POA IT HAS TO BE FILED WITH THE COUNTY CLERKS OFFICE. A WILL IS A PERSONAL DOCUMENT AND IS TO BE FILED AND EXECUTED UPON DEATH. RIDICULOUS. He grilled me about the source of the document which I downloaded via THE LIBRARY FROM LEGAL DEPOT. TOTAL MISINFORMATION ON LEGAL ISSUES. HE IS A DANGER TO THE PUBLIC IN GENERAL.

I called several times and no one replies to tell me that they received the check to renew my late…read moremother's post office box. The employee forgets which post office box it is and the expiration date after several days of calls. I want a grace period beyond January 31, 2024 since this post office is irresponsible and does not provide an answer. I recommend a federal review of the practices and procedures of this post office as well. It is genuinely a dishonorable institution.
