I'll start out by saying I didn't purchase or receive flowers from Olson's, so I can't speak to their bread and butter. They did have some traditional style arrangements in the cooler, the cut flowers on hand looked fresh, and I'm sure you'd be happy with one of their arrangements. I was actually just wandering around downtown and happened to spy some chocolate through their window. Once I walked in, I discovered a great variety of high quality chocolate bars as well as Spokandy chocolates (and maybe other bon bon or truffle style chocolates, but it was mostly bars). We're talkin' Cultura, mellow, Meurisse, Blanxart, Cacao Hunters, and Domori, to name a few. They are also supporting local with Ranger and Moonstruck. They had some beautifully arranged plants, including many tillandsia/air plants, some even hanging from colored glass so they looked like an octopus! The gal at the front was helpful and friendly, and I heard her tell another customer the shop has been open for almost 100 years. How cool is that?! read more

I purchased a floral spray for a funeral service and it was absolutely beautiful and exactly as pictured on the business's website. I ordered and paid online. The site was easy to navigate. I included a message for the family and it was printed out on a small card and attached to the spray. The only reason why I'm docking one star is because I had specific notes on when the arrangement needed to be delivered by. The church where the service was held had set times they would accept floral deliveries. Unfortunately, I had to call Olson's because the delivery was running behind and barely made it before the church closed its doors. Otherwise, the flowers were extremely fresh, fragrant and the design was everything I had hoped for. I will surely order again from Olson's next time I'm in Salem. read more

Paid $80 plus $10 delivery for flowers for my mom. What was delivered was worse than an Albertsons off-the-shelf bouquet. When she sent me a picture thanking me I was obviously extremely disappointed and called to have situation remedied. Within a couple hours they redeployed someone to her house. When she answered the door she was greeted with a terse "heard you don't like your flowers" and a man inviting himself into her house to pick up the crappy flowers initially sent. When she asked if she could just keep them both he laughed dismissively and left. The subsequent bouquet was still significantly less impressive than what the same price down here in super expensive Southern California would get you. Lovely birthday bouquet delivered to my granddaughter. We couldn't have been happier.

When I ordered my sister's flowers I couldn't choose between the beautiful bouquets on the website, so I took a stab at ordering the designers choice. For $55, my sister received 6 roses, a few white daisies, greenery and a balloon? To say that I'm sorely disappointed is an understatement.  Thankfully, the person that received it was appreciative and would never complain, but this bouquet was absolutely not worth the price I paid. I honestly expected an assortment of smaller flowers (after looking through Send Flowers.com of which I ordered through), but not a plain, cheap assortment like this one. Please see the attached photos to reference my disappointment. Notice the size next to a bag of chips and a large drink...  After emailing my complaint, I did receive a $12.00 refund. I would rather have had them send a more appropriate bouquet. read more

I received a Valentine's arrangement delivered around 1pm that was absolutely beautiful. It was from my children who are out of state. They know Valentine's Day is my favorite holiday. About 4pm I received a very similar arrangement. When I looked at the card, and realized it was a duplicate order. I caught the deliveryman, who actually told me th he was the owner. I pointed to the first delivery and said that I had already received flowers. He told me they had a lot of orders and h issues with Teleflora. I told him I couldn't keep two. He asked which ones did I want. I told him that I wanted the first ones. The owner is delivering flowers to make sure orders got delivered,even if they're a duplicate. read more

I'm sorry to see all of the problems others have had with staff here. I've always been pleased both with the quality of their flowers and arrangements and with their customer service. I've ordered from here a dozen or so times over nearly 10 years. I always use their senator rather than Telaflora's as this keeps all of the money local to Salem. They also know exactly how the bouquets on their website ate to be made and always match then out better. I am writing this review because it is so rare to come upon the type of kind and going out of the way customer service I received today. An employee of mine had a death in the family and I wanted to send flowers from the company. Thing was it was 3:20 pm and every florist closes at 5. I called 4 or 5 places and nobody could deliver the same day, earliest was the following day. I didn't want to have them delivered the next day because I knew my employee would probably force herself to come to work and it wouldn't have meant the same. When I called Olson's, the last delivery person had already left for the day. When I explained the situation to the woman on the phone she offered to run the delivery herself after closing on her way home. Who does that? OLSON'S. That's who. I have been going here since I moved to Salem and I recommend them to everyone. Every few months I buy my grandmother a bouquet so she can smell nature while being bedridden. I look forward to picking out flowers for her every month or so. I, usually, get two or three expensive stems and then ask them to fill in the bouquet with affordable flowers and greenery. I got a bouquet last week and my grandma LOVED it. The lily smelled amazing and she loved all the bright colors. There is usually one woman who works at the front desk and makes bouquets for people walking in. She is always respectful and polite. I went to Olson Florist to order flowers for a dear friend's funeral. The assistance I was given in selecting the perfect arrangement was amazing. I had selected a crystal cross to adorn the arrangement. I was called later in the day to advise that someone else had ordered flowers for the same funeral and had selected the crystal cross. How nice it was to receive the call and be assisted with other options. You do not get this type of customer service with online ordering. Their flowers thrive tough weather and stay fresh and gorgeous! Recently, we have received beautiful flower arrangements in vase. Unfortunately, we were out of town when they were delivered, and they were left out on the front porch for over a week. One of them were even knocked down!! But, those flowers look as if they were just delivered! I am so glad for the sender too, that we will still be able to cherish these beautiful flowers. When my grandmother died we walked in here me and my auntie to pick out Arrangements. It's a small establishment with somebody already there being helped we were approached and treated as if we were bothering or had to answer to why we were in there walking around looking at Arrangements.. but before that we stood there Milling around for at least five minutes without even a greeting. And when you asked me what we needed there, I advise you Arrangements like anyone else, to what you then stared and then whispered for your coworker and back to come up front and help. I was very specific in my arrangement needs in the colors of white and anything blue ( but absolutely no purple) the day before my grandmother was buried he brought two arrangements to the home as we also ordered and they were purple and white.. we turned you away and you respectfully brought back another arrangement with blue and white and when I called down to ensure that the following day when the casket sprays delivered for the funeral that there better have any purple flowers in there... when I walked up to her casket at the funeral the casket spray was filled with purple flowers. She only got to die once.. you had one job!! my family will never be back to you!!! read more

Ordered flowers a month ago for this Mother's Day from Olson's and wrote a message in the card. I paid almost $75. When they deliver it, it's an entirely different (clearly cheaper) bouquet, cheaper vase (on the website they heavily advertise for this particular vase with this bouquet), there's no card, and the delivery driver just said "it's from Gina" when it was supposed to be from all 5 of my mom's children(as I stated in the card)! I call to complain and Judy is nice, telling me they ran out of the advertised vase (hence the cheap one) but she can't explain why the bouquet looks nothing like what I ordered and had different flowers than advertised. She says they will replace it. When the driver shows up he is rude to my mother (remember-this bouquet is supposed to be a way for us to thank our amazing mother-not make her feel like she's done something wrong! ) and after handing over the replacement gives her attitude while saying "k, now give me the other ones". She still never received the card. I'm disgusted and will never use them again. read more

I ordered flowers from Olson Florist online for a sick employee. Having never ordered flowers online before, I called them later to check on my order only to find out, from the put out employee, Tamara (I believe was her name), that they had to send the order to another florist b/c where I wanted the flowers sent to was just too far for them to travel that day - which is fine, but it was the whole tone of the conversation. I asked her which florist in the next town over it was sent to, at which point the person interrupted me and told me that the town only had one florist, how would I know that?! I agree with the previous reviewer, the company doesn't seem interested in developing relationships, explaining why they do the things they do, let alone alerting their customer about changes to the orders. I would not try and use them again, even for a local order, which is a shame b/c their presentation online is beautiful. read more

The older couple that owns this flower shop are some of the sweetest people I know. The first time I came in I was happily greeted, I absolutely love the smell of the place, fresh cut flowers everywhere. At this time I worked right around the corner, so once in a while Gary would stop by and bring us ladies a few fresh cut roses, he would tell us a little about the flower and where it came from and what we thought about it. I came in a few weeks later and created my own bouquet for a co-worker and they were so helpful, I loved learning about the names of the flowers, if they were perennials or annuals, etc. One of the best florists to go to if you are looking to get someone something special, and they also have great pricing for weddings. If you do stop by, bring them an espresso shake from the Beanery next door :) they love those! read more

For Valentine's 2015 I ordered a $70 bouquet of flowers and my girlfriend got a small vase with pinkish purple roses, the picture on the website showed many different kinds of purplish flowers, I called olson and they had a new bouquet sent. The New bouquet had really none of the same flowers that were shown on the website, beautiful flowers but I don't think I'll be ordering from this business again any time soon. I am rating 2 stars because they at least had the decency to reimburse the amount charged for the arrangement I thought I was sending. I can understand that not all flowers pictures in an arrangement can be available at a given time but to sub out gerber daisies for carnations and say that they are comparable is laughable. read more

This florist was awful, I wanted to send a nice bouquet to my grandma for her birthday on sat, but they supposedly tried to deliver the flowers a day early on Friday , they said they left a note on the gate and took the flowers back to the shop, my grandma never saw a note, they didn't call me to tell me there was a problem, and she never got her flowers, they refused to give me a full refund, so I'm out $30.00 and my grandma never got her birthday flowers, I do not recommend this florist read more
