The instructors are wonderful both with adults and kids. I have children in each age division class as well as the adult class. The owner/master instructor is very good with children (and adults) of all ages and abilities. This school does teach discipline, respect, and hard work which is why we chose KHK. It is expected that every student work to earn each rank, it is not just rewarded for "showing up" or "participation rewards"- which I am sincerely thankful for. We want our children to learn how to work hard and earn their ranks ,as well as learn how to accept constructive criticism, coaching, and the hard lesson of needing to work harder if they do not meet the goals, expectations, and requirements of what they are trying to achieve and learn to do it again correctly with an attitude of achievement. As an adult who is learning taekwondo for the first time after many years of low activity this has been amazing and difficult- it takes commitment, practice both in class and at home, and willingness to learn and be corrected frequently in all age groups. This school does this with firmness but also with teaching self-confidence in a lasting manner not false compliments. To be able to watch the younger and school-age classes is heartwarming to see how the kids mature and improve in discipline, respect, and ability. I love seeing how my daughter especially is learning that it's ok if she is unable to accomplish something after trying many times, but with help from instructors/other students she can correct her attempt and learn what else to improve and with practice achieve her goal (learning perseverance!). If you are looking for a martial arts school where you learn martial arts, good work ethic, perseverance, respect, and can become part of a family- KHK is the place!

The weather was horrible the time we were visiting Banner Elk, but we made the most of it…read more My Nephew and I decided to take on the "High Country UTV Tour" and rented a couple of the "Outriders" even though it was raining. So - We threw on a couple of $2.00 poncho's from Walmart, our worst sneakers and made the best of it. We actually had a FANTASTIC time driving those Outriders up and down the country hill side. Our Guide (I apologize for forgetting his name) was Awesome! He was constantly checking in on us, if we were ok, everything alright, so on and so fourth. If you're in the Banner Elk area and have some time, Definitely Check them out, I Highly Recommend it.

Trip was about 2+ hrs. We stopped for snacks & water & a bathroom break. Also an opportunity to jump into an area of still water. Rope swing & slide available as well. It was a rainy afternoon, we were provided ponchos. Water guns also included! Which was fun for the teenager in our group !
