Super excited as I love indian food but the restaurant thing is starting to get quite expensive so I'm super happy to have found a great place to do some groceries for the house and prep some fabulous indian cuisine homemade! There's an abundance of indian spices in jars, cans, powder form with tons of fresh veggies and fruits. Lots of cool flavours. It's not a full on grocery such as no meats .. only spices, dairy products Paneer cheese yaaay and ready to go snacks as you walk in the store. The Place is super convenient for me as we live close by and we don't have to drive far to get our things.. the only downfall is the price.. a bit pricey if you ask me but not as bad as the resto's and it's a convenience thing.. rather spend more and drive less. The store is an Asian specialty grocery store and they have a fairly large free parking lot. The prices seemed to be fair and comparable to C&T and LianTai (at least for the items that interested me). I don't drive to this area a lot but if I am in the area, I would have no issues going to Kim Phat for some specialty Asian grocery store items and snacks. Because of the convenience of parking, I prefer Lian Tai, then probably Kim Phat, and then C&T (C&T's parking is often full because it shares a large parking area in a parking mall). Since I didn't eat breakfast or lunch before bringing my mom here, I was famished and purchased a banh mi (Vietnamese baguette sandwich) which was premade and also purchased a drink which was on special.

I've been to the C&T located in the Ville Saint-Laurent / Cartierville area but this is their recently new location in Pierrefonds. This C&T location recently opened in Pierrefonds and was very large and clean. At the time that my friend and I arrived, there was plenty of available free parking close to the entrance. The large shopping carts work with the coin deposit/release system which I'm not a fan of. I know why a lot of stores implement this (mostly grocery stores) but since I'm one of the people who despite what the weather is like, I will always return my grocery shopping cart back to the area that they are supposed to be located after I put the items into my car, I find it more of a nuisance and I often don't carry a loonie or a two-nie with me to release the shopping cart. Luckily here, they have smaller red plastic grocery carts that you can use. These grocery carts can't leave the store so whatever you purchase in the store, you need to take them out of the cart and bring them to your car or whatever means of transportation you used to shop here. This place is very large and very clean. As it just recently opened, hopefully it stays this clean since the C&T location in the VSL/Cartierville area isn't as clean. I believe that this place opened in June 2023 (I visited in late July 2023). There is a minimum $10 amount if using your credit card for purchases. The prices were typical for a larger Asian grocery store and I found the prices to be very competitive and the fresh produce prices that I looked at and was interested in were lower than some of the prices that I saw in the bigger chains (Provigo, Maxi, Metro, Super-C, IGA). I can see myself returning here if I'm in the area. The only negative is that I need to make sure that I have my grocery bags or a loonie/two-nie in order to use the grocery cart if I'm purchasing a lot of items (and I generally don't have/keep my empty grocery bags in my car).

Top Discount is a small speciality French/European grocery store that offers mostly shelf stable foods and specialty products for the home. You can find lots of imported snacks, chips, candies, beverages, cereals and household supplies like cleaning products, detergents, body care, soaps, lotions and the like - all from France for the most part. These are the type of items that are very hard to find elsewhere and normally not sold at your regular grocery store. With the large community of French ex-pats and other European migrants in Quebec, Top Discount offers a little taste from home. I stocked up on a few body washes from brands like Dop or Cottage (not sold in Canada normally), made in France Lays chips, Haribo gummy candy and special bbq sauces. The prices are very affordable and the products are unique and fun. I am not from Europe but appreciate the variety and being introduced to new brands. Note that Top Discount has a partnership with Carrefour which is one of the largest grocery chains in Europe so they also sell many Carrefour house branded items at very cheap prices. This Laval location has the best selection, I went on opening day and compared to another Top Discount store I went to in Brossard, this new location is bigger and better. We walked in on Friday night and were greeted by the owner. He's a very attentive host and went above and beyond explaining each dish and how fresh they were. We ended up ordering the beef tartare with seared scallops and steak. It was to die for. The steak was accompanied by their homemade sauce. The owner paired both of our dishes with the perfect wine, it was his suggestion by the way. We topped everything off with two massive cheesecakes for desert. We both left this place satisfied! We will definitely come back again, especially in the summer where you can sit close to the docks and watch the boats sail by!
