Although I wasn't interested in the judo and jujitsu they are primarily known for, Bobby, the owner, accommodated my interest in getting fit and I ended up taking Dana's Strength and Conditioning classes and got hooked. I renewed my membership and then continued with private training sessions. I am the strongest I have ever been and feel and look pretty great (never thought I'd feel like this as a woman in my 40s with three kids). Dana is motivating and a fantastic teacher and trainer - she fine tunes and gives great prompts to assist with form and make sure the exercises are done properly and safely. In addition, my kids have trialed the jujitsu and gymnastics classes and loved them but couldn't continue due to their other activities, but from what I observed, Bobby is a knowledgeable, patient, and fun teacher. I signed up for a class (first one is free), and took the wrestling class last night. The coach definitely knows his stuff. The class was decent size, and mixed men's and women's. He put us through proper warm ups, reviewed techniques previously taught, and introduced some new moves (with variations). Lots of drills and some live scenarios and matches at the end. I didn't have time afterwards to try the jujitsu classes, but now I know where I'll be training the next time I visit.

I have my girls every other week and my ex won't take them so I had a chat with Sunsei he was nice enough to accommodate my schedule and work out an affordable payment plan. The centre is clean and small. The other 3 teachers on staff are really great as well. I see kids that are rowdy and think they can get their way at home can do the same at the Centre. The teacher don't take BS from the students which I love. They teach them discipline and respect. I see a significant improvement in my girls. They went from being shy and intimidated to performing in front of the teachers, students and parents to get their colour belt grading. I want my girls to continue and get their black belt at 18. Because they're girls I appreciate that they're learning self defence to protect themselves. Not just do they learn the sets of martial arts moves but the class teaches them self defence. They practice if someone were to attack them what they should do. Overall I'm pleased with this Martial Arts Centre. Sunsei and his staff wants what's best for the students and it shows.

You should think of it more as a fitness class (that's what roughly 40 min of each class is devoted to) that teaches some self-defense techniques rather than a martial arts class, especially since it's located in a gym. Super sketchy when it comes to money though. The instructors will use high pressure sales tactics to get you to buy all the equipment through Dan, the owner, even if you're only interested in classes that don't require/need boxing gloves, thigh guards, etc. Really long lead time to cancel recurring billing (over thirty days) and no flexibility from Dan either. For your money, if you're not in the downtown core (and even if you are and can afford a longer travel time) go somewhere else.

I feel duty-bound to warn fellow Burlington residents about this gym…read more First, I'll say that as far as MMA gyms go, I had no complaints. Sure, it's rough and equipment has seen better days, but the classes and instructors are good and I'm sure it's a proper fighters' gym if that's what you're looking for. But be warned, they auto renew memberships without paying any heed to Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, which requires a notice period, cooling off period etc. Money comes off your credit card and you have no way of getting it back. I'm out more than $1000 for a family membership that auto renewed despite us not using the gym for the last 8 months of our year's membership. We stopped going because they had moved from previous location (no complaints, they are entitled to do so) and classes no longer being convenient to get to for us based on where we live. I didn't ask for a refund on the year we paid for, I just sucked it up and moved on and we attended the gym and classes as often as we could but eventually stopped going around April of 2025. The membership was due to end in November or December. Then it auto renewed in November 2025 without me getting a reminder. I immediately emailed to ask for refund, and they have ignored me ever since. I have called about 8 times, emailed at least that many times. I checked their Google reviews and I'm not the only one this has happened to. Be warned. I'll see what I can do with the Ontario Consumer Protection Act but I suspect my $1000 is gone up in smoke. Don't let it happen to you.
