The teachers and staff working at Katie's Kids along with Katie herself are exactly who I want molding and helping my children learn and grow. To be honest, reading one of these negative views gets my blood boiling because Katie works so hard to give/provide the best possible experience and atmosphere for our children and her staff. Katie is a BOSS LADY because she has has built her business from the ground up and to be honest if it were a man we were talking about no one would be questioning it. Women need to be lifting other women up not trying to tear them apart. Also, Katie is more direct then most so because she is direct and has strict policy on sickness/illness (to protect her and the school from liability) she is now seen as a rude?!! My kids have had Hand foot, Mouth, pink eye, etc. so we have had to take our kids out for days and weeks at a time. Unfortunately, that is part of the drill when your kids go to daycare/school. They are going to get sick sometimes more often especially if they are new. And believe me it's hard working with your kids home but if your kids are sick or have a contagious bug then no matter what school they are at you would have to keep them home. What I really want to emphasize is that the teachers are happy and you can tell they are part of a family there and I feel that way too. Katie and Wendy are always available; their door is always open if I need to discuss anything but I find myself sharing our lives and all the positive things my kiddos are doing and learning. Leaving your children everyday in the care of someone else is scary and hard to do. I have had family help raising my children, previous day care facilities, an in home facility and school so I know all facets of this industry. That said, I have an almost 2 year old and a 5 year old at Katie's (my oldest is in 1st grade) and we feel good dropping them off EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. My kids are loved and celebrated. They are taught to be kind, respectful and overall good humans which is hard to come by in this day and age. The owners Elisa and Sam made me feel so comfortable during my tour and answered all my questions, easing my concerns. The teachers were all very friendly, and the kids get to do so many cool projects that encourage their creativity and motor skills. My daughter is in the toddlers room and absolutely loves it. The director, the teachers and entire staff is amazing. We had just moved from out of state and my daughter was thriving in her previous school to say I was picky when looking at schools is an understatement. My daughter has continued to thrive. The communication and the one on one care from the staff is fantastic. My daughter is excited every morning to go to school and doesn't want to leave when I pick her up. I love the constant updates from the staff and have always felt like she is incredibly safe while there. As a mom when I send her off in the morning nothing makes me feel better than knowing she is in not only safe but in loving hands. This staff truly cares and it shows.

Since starting this daycare, I've noticed my son is hitting milestones quicker and love that he is getting socialization at such an early age. I'm a single mom, and I chose this place not just to work, but to also have my twin boys enrolled so I could be closer to them. Sadly, what began as a hopeful opportunity quickly became one of the most toxic and disappointing work environments I've ever experienced. A teacher I initially trusted (my children's teacher) ended up mom-shaming me to my face and behind my back questioning if my children could sing their ABCs, count, or put on shoes, and even suggesting they weren't "smart enough" to be in her class (despite her own son being the same age). She pushed to have them moved down into my classroom and later, when I experienced a serious medical issue at work, she told others I was "faking it." What I went through medically was something beyond my control and deeply personal. To have it dismissed like that was beyond hurtful. I addressed my concerns respectfully and privately with the owner. Instead of addressing the issue directly, she sent out a vague message to staff about gossip but never followed up or took further action. ( which I asked for )That teacher continued to be unkind and unprofessional, including making comments about me not deserving donated diapers for my kids. I asked multiple times for a group meeting to resolve everything calmly and constructively. It never happened. I felt so unsupported, disrespected, and anxious every day at work that I ultimately quit even though I didn't have another job lined up. That should tell you how emotionally exhausting it had become. Before leaving, I shared my disappointment in the staff communication thread not to be dramatic, but because I believe people should treat each other better, especially in a space meant to nurture children. Instead of acknowledging the problem, my message was deleted, ignored, and swept under the rug. Since then, I've heard several more staff members have quit for the same reasons I did. Yet the same individuals who were creating the toxic environment continue to be protected. I truly don't understand why. As for the daycare itself the children are not in danger, and many of the caregivers genuinely do their best. But I do believe the classrooms are too small, outdoor time is limited (30 minutes a day), and efforts to reduce outside play due to "staff interactions" is not in the best interest of the kids. When teacher turnover is high and staff morale is low, that inevitably affects the children, too.

I hate seeing the rating so low from some folks that had a very limited or one-time experience. My kiddos were well prepared for Kinder and thrived, especially socially, at Vista. If you're in it for the long haul, Vista is so great. I'm glad my babies made core memories and lifelong friends there.

We are fans of all the outdoor playing, field trips, phonics, holiday special events and swim lessons. Learning Tree has been around for 40 years...there are kids there whose parents went there as children. All my kids loved to go there and are amazing swimmers. It is only closed for a few holidays a year versus other pre-schools that follow the Boise School District calendar. The only reason I don't give it a 5 is that I think every place always has room for improvement.
