They were helpful in letting me know where the meeting room was when I first got there and the set up was great for the type of meeting that we were having. Of course, having worked in the restaurant industry, I was paying most attention to the service and food aspect of the experience. The servers did a great job in being discreet and clearing the million coffee cups and dirty spoons that we must have accumulated within the first half hour of our meeting. Fresh pots of coffee kept appearing. The kitchen staff were equally respectful when they had to set up the lunch table in the middle of our meeting. The sandwiches and soup that they prepared were good, along with the cheese and dessert platters. Unfortunately since our group was mostly women, we hardly made a dent! There was a bit of noise from another meeting next door, but it didn't last for long. I think this country club would be a beautiful spot for a wedding or other special event and I like that it is removed from the city.

The Long Version: The Hylands Golf Club is a golf club by the Ottawa airport. Membership is open to everyone, but it is known as a military golf club. Military insignia and military memorabilia can be found throughout the golf club. Military personnel also pay the cheapest memberships, followed by civilians working in Defence, RCMP and Coast Guards. All others have the highest membership rates. I'm not a golfer and am not a member, but I was there for a special event (military related). I briefly toured the grounds and they looked nice, but I spent most of my time in the clubhouse. There's a bar and kitchen there. I had dinner there and it was fantastic. We started with the Bistro Salad, which was a mixed greens salad with onions, dried cranberries and feta cheese. The vinaigrette was light and slightly sweet. We had beef tenderloin as our main and it was tender and flavourful. It was accompanied by roasted potatoes, carrots and asparagus. The gravy was delicious. The dessert was a cheesecake with a raspberry sauce. It was a bit too sweet and too rich for my liking, but overall still good. Service was courteous, but I never got my tea, and I feel like we were maybe a bit of a larger group than they are used to. We were about 100 people. There is free parking on-site, which is paved (I mention this because although I haven't been to many golf clubs, most that I've been to have unpaved parking lots, which is a pain when you're attending a formal event and wearing heels, lol). I think Hylands Golf Club would be a nice place to have a smallish reception or party. Review #116 (2025)

Between the red and the blue course, Mini Golf Gardens has two full 18 holes mini putt courses. The blue has bumpers and is better for beginners or a warm up whereas the red is much more challenging and doesn't have any bumpers to help direct your ball or prevent it from going into the grass, water or sand. That's right, there are water hazards on this course so get your snorkeling gear! I'm not sure if they always have the 2 for 1 deal, but the day we went if you paid for the firsy 18, the 2nd 18 was free. I had a blast playing here. Oh and did I mention I got 3, that's right, three holes-in-one?!!? Yeah, that's right. Wicked place. Would definitely be back when I'm in the area.

It looks absolutely stunning as the sun sets. There are two courses and to my understanding the second course is free when you play the first. Each hole ranges in difficulty; some I was able to get a hole in one (probably a miracle) and others had me laughing as my ball rolled down to the bottom of the hill for the fourth time. The staff was very kind. There's a small hut where you pay and they also offer ice cream bars and other snacks there as well. I'll definitely be going back to keep my winning streak up!

I *LOVE* this conference centre! I wish this wonderful city had had one of these a long time ago!!…read moreYes, the parking is expensive - we paid $10 the first time we were there, and $7 last weekend after it was taken over by Ernst & Young (and getting out of the parking lot is hugely better when the place isn't teaming with people!!) I've been here 3 times now, and once was by shuttle bus. I would recommend this as an option if you have the choice. You don't go here for the food. There are restaurants for that. You come here for to see demonstrations and sales shows. What I love about this place: First of all, I find it inviting, because of the wide, brightly lit and carpeted hallways (big windows let in natural light); the large, well lit function rooms (electric light); and the availability of a coat check. Most recently I attended the home and garden show here, and they were charging $3 per coat (forewarned is forearmed! At least you know now that they offer this service.) The Home Renovations show was good, but the Henry's Digital Show was stellar! It was Henry's who offered the shuttle bus, so you could have parked at one of their stores to catch the bus as we did, hitching a ride in Kanata, and it made one stop at their newest store on Hunt Club. Good advertising, I thought!! The first time we went here, I don't even remember what the show was, but that was when we paid $10 for parking, and I do recall that Lulu Lemon had a sale there that day as well, and the parking lot and the building was a ZOO!! The Lulu Lemon presentation had a lineup out the door! The show we attended was good, but the Lulu Lemon sale must have been a real hit! Mind you, I have heard that they never ever have a sale, so this was something special. After the Home Reno show this past weekend (18-20 January 2013), we noticed another exhibition hall was open, and they were advertising a sale on crocs and other sell-off stock, including some clothing. Entry to that exhibit hall was free, so we went in. I wanted a new pair of crocs which I got, but we did not find clothes at the right size. Ah well! It was enjoyable any way! What you find at the show all depends on the demonstrators who rent the spaces there, but overall, I've enjoyed what I've seen.

The washrooms were closed promptly after the event and attendants were being turned away as if they were loiterers instead of paying attendees. At one point after the event, security guards were forcibly trying to remove patrons by kicking and spitting at them. I have never seen anything like this in my life. The entire staff was deplorable. Especially the security guards! Whether they were contracted or not it reflects poorly on the entire establishment. I expected much better overall treatment and service as a PAYING guest of the EY Centre. I will never return.
