With this place being the only possible spot in town to carry them, I rolled the dice, stopped in, and became pleasantly surprised when there was not just one, but two options. The price was also "marked down" 50% on both so what would have been a $120 pair cost me only $60. They also had sizes 11.5 and 12 in both. Another surprise. The only thing they didn't have was a pair of nylon socks, so I rolled the dice again and took a dirty, likely germ-infested sock from the used sock box and hoped to leave without getting plantar warts or else some other unrecognizable fungus. Three days later and I haven't had to visit either the podiatrist or dermatologist. Before entering the store, I got distracted by the sales rack and ended up picking up a $10 t-shirt and a $32 pair of running shorts inside (not on sale). The cashier/manager told me he could save me 20% on my total at the counter by simply providing my name and address. Not my email address, which would have likely resulted in me getting bombarded with unwanted spam, but my physical address. Easy enough. My total came to just under $90 and I left one happy shopper.

I do like to fish but just don't go often enough anymore and I have a lot of gear already. It is dog friendly here and Santa was in store so off we went on a Sat at 1pm... And wow. Was blown away. The cool people are here! Lol! The men.... Are here! Nice customers, many with their own dogs! My pooch loved the display at the back with all the taxidermy deer, bear, geese etc. the running waterfall was a great effect on the mini mountain. The store was busy but well laid out. Clean. The huge signs above the sections tell you where to go. I was surprised at alllll the pet things. Gift ideas, spices. Xmas food items. Staff wear green shirts with name tags and they were so great and good to my dog. She was spoiled. Santa loves dogs too! We stayed at least 2 hours... Blew about $75 but I see this as an amazing outing every couple of weekends. Things are on clearance but scattered throughout the store. Washroom was at the front at the massive fireplace. Check outs didn't take long. Lol... I went thru x 2. Tons of parking.

Stay tuned for details!! ________________ They've had spectacular attendance for their opening weekend - September 22-25 2016. I went in to see what it's like, comparing it to their biggest competition (Bass Pro is NOT located in Ottawa, unfortunately - but there is one in the outskirts of Toronto, which is where I have been.) This store was mobbed! There are many similarities, such as they've kept the taxidermists quite busy with all the animals on display. The entrance has several such displays set up, high above the entrance where people can't touch them. Bears, deer, etc. Everywhere I went, I could hear "pop! pop! pop!", and when I got to the back of the store, I found out why: there's a display of animals cavorting down a rock-mountain, and kids and adults alike are playing with wooden toy guns that produce a popping noise when they go off. Meanwhile, in the rest of the store, they sell fishing and hunting equipment, including a long counter where they sell rifles. They sell camouflage clothes, as well as footwear for all ages, and camping and cooking gear (I noticed a deep fryer). Cabela's does NOT have a huge fish tank. There was a fudge factory (with a lineup), and candied nuts (I had a sample; they were good!). I will go back again to take a closer look, and perhaps try some footwear on, when it will hopefully be a little less crowded.

Shopping for a bike on Markertplace, Canadian Tire, Used, Costco. Forget it. I tried. Here, the bike is assembled for you upon purchase by people that know what they are doing. Warranty included. 15% off accessories for 7 days after the buy. You can get sized on your visit to see what size of bike you need. You can test drive the floor model on the lot to get a feel for your chosen one. (Bring runners, of course) I learned a lot and I'll be back soon for payment. 3 Ottawa locations. Westboro is said to be bigger. Orleans has a lot of the stock. It feels elite to shop here. Just wish it was a tad more affordable but you get what you pay for!

When…read moreI got back to my hotel room, I found that there was only one sock in the package (I suspect the other was used as the model on display) I though I'd learned a lesson about checking before buying anything, but figured there was no downside in writing an email to the store, thinking that maybe someone would be coming downtown for the race and could drop the missing sock off at the hotel. They mailed me a pair along with some extra goodies for the inconvenience. It's a level of service I never expected. Bushtukah certainly demonstrated their mission to provide unparalleled customer service. They've made me a fan for life. I wish they had a store less than 3,500 kms away from Calgary.

He is the epitome of outdoors - he lives up in the mountains of Washington State, drives an atv, hunts, rides horseback, owns bear repellant and can fish any body of water for his survival. I spotted Green Drake Outfitters one day as I was cruising along Wellington Street and decided to stop by to buy something/talk to the staff to acquire some sort of woods credibility (the opposite of street cred). Green Drake Outfitters (a green drake is a kind of fly they make lures of for fly fishing - some sort of outdoor sport) sells all kinds of fishing gear - the hats, these gloves for holding the fish tight as you wrest the hook from its mouth, vests to store your hooks, hip waders, all sorts of camoflage gear, etc. The prices? I have no idea if they are high or not, but the staff assured me they were middle of the road. Speaking of the staff, they seem very knowledgable - well, they were quite willing to spend time educating a city boy like me about all things outdoors - mostly for their own entertainment, I am sure! Anyhow, if you are interested in fishing or outdoor adventuring, then go to Green Drake Outfitters.

We opted to store the boat there over the winter and have it wrapped after using it for only one month. Improper wrapping caused scratches all over the motor. They wanted us to bring the boat back so they could fix it! I told them that wasn't right, so they sent a detailer out to buff out the scratches. While they are mostly no longer visible except in photos, the top of the cowling still shows obvious swirl marks. No apologies were ever issued and the wife owner was rude. They should have given us a brand new cowling.

I politely told the salespeople that I was just looking for now. A short time later I heard a manager (possibly the owner) yelling at her staff saying that they had to ask everybody in the store if any help was needed. I must have been approached by three or four salespeople within only a few minutes. It was way overboard and annoying. Getting frustrated, I ended up leaving the store without buying anything. Another time I went to Sports Check wanting to buy a pair of good quality running shoes. Despite trying on numerous different running shoes none of them fit my feet properly and they weren't even comfortable. When shopping at other stores, I always find good fitting shoes without too much difficulty. During my last visit at Sports Check, in the late Fall, I asked a manager about cycling pants. She said, "I show you what I have." The manager brought me over to the area where they display hiking pants. Over the years, I have found that Sports Chek usually doesn't sell what I'm looking for and/or often they don't have my size. Even when they do have my size, the clothes/shoes don't fit properly. I am an average-sized person proportionate to my body shape, height and weight. Also, I have found that staff doesn't know much about the products they are selling.

Fortunately, I was approached/greeted by a staff member who was eager to serve. After trying on a few pairs and explaining what I needed, and the difficulties I usually have shopping for shoes, the manager helped with some more suggestions. The 2 of them narrowed down the choices the perfect shoe for me. I paid for my purchase, and left the store quite satisfied, and enthusiastic about sharing my experience here on Yelp, as well as my family, and friends.
